I just bought a 2017 1SS with the NPP dual mode exhuast. I really like it so far. The plus side is I didn't have to get under the car to put a louder system on it.
not sure if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my gf lately =)
For me, the npp was enough on my '15. I don't need it much louder as I already receive playful comments from the neighbors saying they know when I'm coming down the street and when I leave for work. Part of that is I have the mild to wild switch set with the baffles always open. Plus the quad exhaust is a badass look and helped sell me on the car. There aren't many camaro-centric channels on UA-cam and I'm enjoying the updates you provide with your gen6. Keep up the good work, Hammer!
Machine can you show exactly what mechanically happens to the valves I've worked on cars for 40 years and never seen anything like it my GM certified dealers are absolutely no help whatsoever I have a 2017 2ss 50th what a car water Beast I love it
I thoroughly think the NPP is worth it for someone who wants to have a nice quiet drive as well as a more notable drive when they so choose. I'm driving an '18 2LT and the silent mode is amazing. I live in a dense neighborhood and my neighbors have yet to voice any complaints. On the Flip Side, it's always fun to switch it into Sport Mode and drive around. For me personally, the switching from Silent to Sport Mode is some of the most fun of the NPP, because you always have that variety and options in sound.
I got the Dual Mode exhaust on my 2015 SS. It came with it, it is computer controlled, the only way to open it all the time is pulling the fuse. I think the 2016 and up you have the switch to control it. My opens at 2800 RPM.
I would buy this without a doubt. It looks 10x better in my opinion and sounds great. If you want to go quad tip from the basic exhaust you will need an axleback and the rear bumper section for quad exhaust ( or let someone cut on your car). Some people don't feel the need to hear their car 100% of the time. I know I got a V8 and I don't always need to remind myself or feel the need to remind everyone else. Most of my verbal pleasure comes from doing cold starts and making a pull. Plus you get to finance the cost of the exhaust versus saying your saving to buy a full exhaust....which may or may not even happen
1 of the two main options I've looked for on my new FIFTY model camaro. The magnetic ride was numero uno!! That being said, I love the NPP and worth every penny IMO. Thanks for all the great content bro! Your channel helped me alot with my decisions in my 20 yr dream of purchasing a camaro!
We also do get a much better looking gloss black rear diffuser with the NPP. So 895 bucks for the ability to control volume, quad tips and diffuser is a KILLER deal. Oem, insane bang for the buck, no annoying drone (especially for road trips and when it rains so you can't roll your windows down). Plus for people like us, just getting an axle back is never enough haha. LT TRI-Y headers and xpipe will follow that axle back too (no secondary cats.... Set fire to those secondary cats....). Personally, sticking with stock tri-y's just getting them ported and coated. OEM is legit. And like you said, Borla is indeed making an NPP compatible ATAK system (they just shared a teaser on the forums) so instead of spending $2400 (borla c7 npp), having a crappy looking rear diffuser + manual switch for baffles instead of infotaintment. Getting the factory NPP option is THE best way to go. Having control over mods is priceless. You can always pull the fuse like you did or keep it in there once you are done with your setup if you don't want to be way too loud as maybe you just are not in the mood for it at that time... And thanks again for the video Sledge
+Lethalhammer Yeah, I do wish I was a little more smart about it and gotten a baseline done with my actual local gas that I would be using all the time as I never cared for baselines before, always cared for what #s I ended up with lol. Btw, we need to get you a camera mount or something to make your life easier man! Love these videos but man I feel bad for you having to hold the camera up all the time and having to switch and all lol.
+Lethalhammer Thanks for the video! my car is in transit as I am typing this message and I look forward to getting to do some of the mods you have done on your camaro on mine! Keep making videos and people are going to keep coming to watch them! Keep up the good work!
a great summary of the npp , I got it but unless you constantly are depressing the gas pedal you don't hear the great " motorboat " sound. your tip on pulling the fuse is great but how identifiable is it?? looking forward to your follow up videos...
Thank you for your post! The best things I learned was about pulling the fuse in track mode, and the fact that NPP gets you the 4 tip exhaust pipe setup in the rear. Awesome info!
Hey @lethalhammer from one Camaro owner/lover to another the specifics you speak of on the GenV - NPP are a little off. NPP was available at any trim and the automatics as well - however there are no "modes" available on the GenV which I am most certainly jealous of. However I can control it quite a bit being that I have a manual and I love that aspect. When just cruising around and suddenly flooring it you can actually feel the performance increase once the RPMs get high enough and the 2 valves open. Makes the car so much more fun to drive that I was not having nearly as much fun in the manual V8 challenger my buddy bought not too long after mine. It was almost a disappointment for me in his car lol
+Alexander McC I think when the gen5 refresh happened on 2014/2015 they made that option available for the LT. But 2010 - 2013 could not get NPP on the LS or LT.
+Lethalhammer I went through and looked up the spec sheets for 2012 to 2015 (as the exhaust didn't exist for Camaro until after the ZL1 intro). 2012 only ZL1. 2013 SS manual and ZL1. 2014 LT manual and auto, SS manual only, and of course ZL1. www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Help%20Center/Download%20a%20Brochure/02_PDFs/2012_Camaro_eBrochure.pdf www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Help%20Center/Download%20a%20Brochure/02_PDFs/MY13%20Camaro%20eBrochure_081612.pdf www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Help%20Center/Download%20a%20Brochure/02_PDFs/GLOBE-CAM%20122_MY14%20Camaro%20eBrochure_092513.pdf
For me, the NPP was an absolute dealbreaker when I was in the market for a 2SS, if it had everything I wanted, but not the quad/NPP, I didn’t want the car, to me, if you get a big fast V8, definitely gotta get some extra sound in there, and the gloss black diffuser is a plus!!
I bought a used 5th gen Camaro RS 2lt, and it has the NPP exhaust on it.. so I didn't pay extra on it.. I don't have the fuse in it anymore, who ever had it before me pulled a fuse so that its always open. Just curious.. does it compare to the stock on the V6 ? Thanks for your time
Another thing to consider is the price is added to your monthly car payment. So if you don't have the cash to add that to your Camaro this is the better way to go.
I test drove a 2017 Camaro v6 today with the npp dual mode exhaust. The only driving modes were Tour, Sport and Snow &Ice. What's the catch, is it supposed to have more modes just coz of NPP Dual mode and if not, how do you control it?
If I get a 6th gen Camaro 2SS and it has the dual exhaust instead of the quad NPP exhaust will the infotainment system not have the different modes (stealth/tour/sport/track)? please respond if you can
Hey Lethalhammer, can you make a short video of the different display modes you can cycle through like 4 aux gauges, g meter, etc. in between the speedo and tachometer? I have meant to go to the dealer and look myself but don't wanna be hassled or had the time to go in lately. Thanks man and keep up the good work!
My battery died over night, and I had to jump start it. Now both of my windows won't work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I know you are the Camaro expert. This is for a 2017 Camaro 1SS. Thank you!
I have ‘17 1LT (v6) and just noticed I have the NPP exhaust, I do wanna make it just a little bit louder so I’m thinkin just an resonator delete w an Xpipe, but what’s stealth mode
Great video - but can you disconnect the NPP wires from the valves, thereby making a muffler delete system without the check engine light ? Let me know as I would love to do this to my Vette
+Master Mario I think you will get an error code without them hooked up. They do offer system with the valve delete, but it is just an external mount that makes the flange think it is still working.
Man , I have 2 questions for you , does your catch can works ? I mean have you Already remove oil from the can ? Beacause Aaron Link said they already put a catch can type system in the LT1 camaro . And the other question , which drive mode is the best in throttle response and speed ? Track or sport ? Cause in the Cts-V track mode isnt the fastest in throttle response and reactions , thanks man , im waiting for my 2ss
+elvicdesonora Aaron Link's design works wonders from the back side of the engine, but the PVC valve is still dumping pressure and oil into the intake manifold. The Catch can I am using is catch oil and keeping the motor clean.
I love my NPP on my 2015 1LE. It's perfect IMHO. I wouldn't change it for anything. That said, my brother also has a 2015 1LE with NPP and he has headers and cat delete and it's just plain nasty sounding. I'm planning to add headers soon.
what are your thoughts on the npp exhaust being crushed by the rear axle. looks to have good clearance without being crushed. do you think it would be worth cutting the crushed section out and replacing it with new pope?

So I’m tryina add this future on my 2020 2ss mine didn’t come wit a npp system, anywhere I could get that installed? I tried callin dealership but nothing and I currently have corse xtreme but I’m trying to get the one wit the valves. Any ideas? I don’t wanna get valvetronics bc I wanna stick wit corsa
I only have dual tips on mines too quiet for my taste I wanted the quads but none of the dealerships had it on their vehicles . So I can ask my dealership to install the npp on mines?
+Lethalhammer Bought my camaro about 3 months ago and I am now wondering if they would be ok installing it on mine now, I regret not having it installed when I picked it up, do they allow that (for the same price that is)?
Do you know if someone that makes a conversion of the Non NPP exhaust to a NPP exhaust I couldn’t find a 2SS with the NPP exhaust so I was wanting to have a full functioning one or rig one to have the quad tips
I just pulled the F51 fuse on my 2018 Camaro RS I have dual NPP when in park i rev engine i now can hear that pop sounds alot louder when i floor it and jump on the Long Island Expressway. No service engine light. I do want to buy the Borla Atak axel back quad NPP with valves but its $1,595.00 does anyone know where i can but it cheaper with a fast free shipping.
100% worth it. I'm running NPP on my 5th gen with Stainless Works LT headers w/out cats and it sounds sick. When I first got the car I did the fuse pull but have since installed the mild 2 wild switch so that I can close them if I want to. I run them with the switch "off" (wide open) all the time with the exception of when I come home late at night from work. Again IMO, NPP....100% worth it. Quick sound clip below. ua-cam.com/video/mDOnixMNaA4/v-deo.html
Hey what's up Lethal! I got a question. I have a 2016 1SS with single tips exhaust, I want to get a NPP axle back exhaust, is there any device that could be connected to the actuator and remotely control it? since I don't have the NPP system on my car. Thank you very much in advance and thx for such a great channel!
Lethalhammer Yeah I did the fuse pull as well. Absolutely amazing. Best free mod you can do! My car sounds badass just strolling around the parking lot now 😂
Hey Lethal look at corsa exhaust on the C7 Corvettes. Yes the exhaust is different but the engine is the same and listen to that exhaust sounds pretty good! I currently have Borla Atak cat back exhaust on my challenger r/t that I am about to trade in for the car and it sounds great but I think Corsa really dialed in the sound of these lt1 engines! Also an idea for a video tell people what kind of paint you used to pain your brake calipers am looking to do that to mine as well and need a good product that works
Lethalhammer I know Corsa was working on exhaust for us. I got in contact with them and they said they are on the last steps of their exhaust and it should be available to the public very soon say sometime around May
can i change from stock one to NPP ? after i bought the car ? or if i had the stock one and bought after market NPP exhaust will the mods sound will work ?
+Noob Gamer you can get a quad tip exhaust setups. But to get the Dual mode functionally is impossible to add after the fact. Some vendors offer remote control valves, but it will not be seamless and hook up to your MyLink system.
+Lethalhammer yessss I just watched the video and gave it a thumbs up right before you told me lol, thanks a lot!! First thing I'm going to do when I get my car back on Friday Haha
Where it gets expensive, is when you want to upgrade your exhaust, the aftermarket exhaust with the NPP and AFM, are stupid expensive. It saves a lot of money to just do a NPP and AFM delete and buy the exhaust, without the NPP and AFM setup. It’s about a $500 difference, across the board. Not to mention, AFM is terrible for your valves and cause premature engine failure.
My new favorite game is looking at people's reactions in my rear view mirror who are behind the 2SS when I start it up lol. And do you have a video on how to pull the fuse?
DEF worth it! I sell Camaro's and the Sound changing with Modes is BRILLIANT!!!! Plus it sounds awesome! I just wish the Steering feel was Independent of mode!!!! Just because I want the throttle response and loudness of TRACK MODE doesnt mean I want less assist in the steering!!! THAT is my biggest critique of this car (along with visibility)! (that shows how GREAT the car is.
Lol never mind my previous comment, I was trying to multitask and comment..(rolls eyes, failed)..but anywho yeah I got the dual tips on my 2016 buuuut I regretted it later and now I'm thinking about changing that part out( diffuser) that's what they told me it was called and trying to get one for a fitted for a quad tip but haven't had any luck yet.
I just bought a 2017 1SS with the NPP dual mode exhuast. I really like it so far. The plus side is I didn't have to get under the car to put a louder system on it.

+Alexander McC on the Gen5's you could not get NPP on LT or LS's. I was also a gen5 owner.
Is your car 14 or 15?
15 - thats my car in the vid
and was just trying to help - you know far more about these cars than I BUT I do know mine

Why not install after market exhaust?
Im in that boat right now in a 2022. Deal is about to break over this
i ve driven the 2016 twice i truly like npp exhaust

How do I engage it/ disengage it? I have a 2013 camaro ss but it’s a manual so no buttons to engage ?
The NPP with cat deletes sounds amazing! Try it out and it’s super quiet when it’s in stealth !
How does it sound with it on loud vs quiet? Any videos
@@jakef.1670 I have aftermarket npp on my 13 with cat/resonator delete and yes it does make a huge difference with the sound
How do you know which fuse, and where?
If I get a 6th gen Camaro 2SS and it has the dual exhaust instead of the quad NPP exhaust will the infotainment system not have the different modes (stealth/tour/sport/track)? please respond if you can
It won’t have the sound options but will still have the driving modes on a switch near the shifter
+Tyler Borchers Easy to do! Will do just that.
My battery died over night, and I had to jump start it. Now both of my windows won't work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I know you are the Camaro expert. This is for a 2017 Camaro 1SS. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! YES, it is worth it. I wish Chevy put this on the 6.2 and 5.3 Silverado trucks.
Could just pull the fuse?
I have the NPP on my "18 SS. Wonder how just an aftermarket or custom H-pipe sounds with the NPP.
hows it sound on the turbo.
It's totally worth it!! Sounds badass!!
Nope. This was done most likely to kill drone from the NPP setup. Overall no HP is lost with the crushed pipes.
Love your videos! I have a question that you might be able to answer. What is the sound level with the npp exhaust at wide open throttle. I ask because I am taking mine to Laguna and they enforce a .90 db level.....and I am pretty sure our cars are louder than that! Thanks for any help and keep up the great work!
+Tom Battaglia stay in tour mode for the exhaust and your fine. But I think Wot is about 98db.
thanks! That sucks....tour mode while on the track.....and track mode while on the streets....lol
Options are always better than no options.... NPP hands down!
It is not possible to add after the fact. Have to add aftermarket cutouts or controllers.
What NPP mean ? And I have AFE intake , muffler delete, u guys think with NPP my car can sound louder ?
Where did you get your fog tail lights
I only have dual tips on mines too quiet for my taste I wanted the quads but none of the dealerships had it on their vehicles . So I can ask my dealership to install the npp on mines?
NPP is not something that can be added after the fact. your only option is aftermarket options.
+Lethalhammer Bought my camaro about 3 months ago and I am now wondering if they would be ok installing it on mine now, I regret not having it installed when I picked it up, do they allow that (for the same price that is)?
+Yannsen S. Not possible.
Do you know if someone that makes a conversion of the Non NPP exhaust to a NPP exhaust I couldn’t find a 2SS with the NPP exhaust so I was wanting to have a full functioning one or rig one to have the quad tips
You can do it, but it won’t be like factory.
I took out the npp fuse out of my car does it effect the throttle response or performance
+Joejohn Carrizal It will not.
I just pulled the F51 fuse on my 2018 Camaro RS I have dual NPP when in park i rev engine i now can hear that pop sounds alot louder when i floor it and jump on the Long Island Expressway. No service engine light.

Jammin Jerry what does pulling the fuse do?
+Matt Davis keeps the NPP valves open all the time.
Lethal nice. thanks
Gen5DIY sells a device that can work like NPP and it’s controlled with a controller.
Ty so much. I'll check it out
hey man do you know if you can still have dual mode exhaust if you get a muffler delete?
Ummm not really. You have no muffler, which kills dual mode
The NPP exhaust valves are actually fully open on startup and idle. Atleast for my 13 ZL1. Idk if hey changed any of the behavior for the 16 models.
On startup yes, but once you hit highway speeds, they start to close.
Lethalhammer Yeah that's basically what I said lol. The valves fully open above around 2500-3000 RPM.
+Jonathan T I pulled the fuse for now.
Lethalhammer Yeah I did the fuse pull as well. Absolutely amazing. Best free mod you can do! My car sounds badass just strolling around the parking lot now 😂
+Jonathan T I'll be honest, I wish I could afford a ZL1.
I saw a package called the ground effects package I saw that it included the NPP and there wasn't much of a description so what does that package do?
+Tech Defender It provides the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser.
Good suggestion. I haven't heard it on the vette. I think they may have released a teaser as well for the Camaro.
Lethalhammer I know Corsa was working on exhaust for us. I got in contact with them and they said they are on the last steps of their exhaust and it should be available to the public very soon say sometime around May
Is this still applicable with Borla's NPP compatible exhaust? I love NPP for the quiet mode. it really is MUCH quieter.
+bemrocs wasn't aware Borla started making a NPP exhaust.
Always love this channel and vids. Really helps me plan for what I want to get and always helps me remember why I love Camaros!
Thanks Man
can i change from stock one to NPP ? after i bought the car ? or if i had the stock one and bought after market NPP exhaust will the mods sound will work ?
+Noob Gamer you can get a quad tip exhaust setups. But to get the Dual mode functionally is impossible to add after the fact. Some vendors offer remote control valves, but it will not be seamless and hook up to your MyLink system.
ow :( because our dealer here in KUWAIT is just selling camaros with stock exhaust only :( i dont know why they didn't order NPP ones too
+Noob Gamer crazy! It is such a great and semi cheap upgrade compared to other offerings.
Perfect summary. Thank you sir'. 👍
How do you know what fuse to pull?
+Trey Smith I'll make a video for it :)
+Lethalhammer And here it is: ua-cam.com/video/8tnHhMYLpqQ/v-deo.html
+Lethalhammer yessss I just watched the video and gave it a thumbs up right before you told me lol, thanks a lot!! First thing I'm going to do when I get my car back on Friday Haha
Bro, which fuse you talking about? How to find it?
+Erno Mma see here: ua-cam.com/video/8tnHhMYLpqQ/v-deo.html
Thx bro
Borla gets pretty high and raspy on most cars!?
does all these upgrades void warranty
+Joejohn Carrizal Not all, but some can. Overall the dealer and GM would have to prove your upgrade caused a problem in the first place.
What's the loudest mode on the NPP?
Track and sport are the same loudness, just track stays open longer
@@Lethalgarage Thank you
Where it gets expensive, is when you want to upgrade your exhaust, the aftermarket exhaust with the NPP and AFM, are stupid expensive.
Nvm, found it
+claystar9valor Glad you found it.
+creekhed1 But the steering is... you can set the steering in the settings.
do the seats recline?
+Alan Gonzalez they do, but not a lot
LethalGarage I'm in the process of buying a 2SS Garnet Red and being 6'3, I'm a bit worried.
the only way I would not get nPP is if I got a cat back exhaust system
I mean I’m pretty sure NPP is meant for exhaust systems like a Cat-Back, but I might be wrong
Is it loud ?
+Swaggy Kullar not really.
best info good job
If i want to make mine loud and have pops and backfire, can i just go with stock and save some cash
Cash for a different exhaust system i do want the quad tips though
A Camaro should be loud no matter what.
+mukio900 Not everyone believes that. (I do ;))
You could get the npp with the auto in the later years of the 5th gen. Good video
Remember, the factory setup is engineered so you won't get a drone at highway speeds.
+Juve Madrigal They are not cheap I know that. My dealer said the diffuser part is $900 wholesale.
what dude is it? I own a 17 with npp
totally worth it, you wanna start that bitch every morning just so you can listen to that jesus of a V6 (or V8).
NPP
I don’t want it. I’ll buy a axle back if I want more sound
HELL not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's like $900 bucks i think. The exhaust is the first to go so NO!
more night driven videos to see the camaro at night
If your wife complains about your camaro being too loud divorce her
Hmmmm yes
