  • Inspired once again by my mate over the pond, Kofuzi, I took the camera along for the Bondi to Manly Ultra, running the first leg of the relay on Gadigal Land for my team, the legendary 'Bondi Boogie Blazers'.
The course for my leg, as well as the other three, had heaps of elevation, running alongside the ocean and harbour line across trail, beach and road. On such a beautiful but challenging course, running in a team, your time really starts to become irrelevant as you look around and appreciate how lucky we are to do this. There was no chasing fast splits where we were suffering up the hills and recovering on the way down!
Running as part of a team is bloody awesome! We had a team of quality runners and even better humans, who did their best by one another to come away with a more than solid 9th place in the mixed relay - how good! This was a great opportunity for me to hone my newfound training philosophy of 'Enjoyment First', and I'll continue to advocate for this approach amongst amateurs; do what you want to do and what you love doing, and have fun whilst you do it.
In saying that; oh my word I can't imagine running 80kms of that for the full-distance race. Anyone that achieved the feat on the day is an absolute warrior and/or has a screw loose - nice one legends!
