- Dip pen and watercolor illustration. Wanted to explore something a bit more organic.
Ink: Speedball super black
Nib: Speedball 512
Watercolor: Kuretake and Winsor & Newton
Paper: Canson illustration board
reminds me of a toxic jungle from Naussica
Yes exactly
Naussica was the first thing I thought of. ❤
Came here to say exactly this!
Same here!
Your style reminds me of books i would just stop and stare at as a kid, the one I can think of off the top of my head is cloudy with a chance of meatballs. I just love the whimsical nature of the illustrations
Yesss!!! Also the book Alexander's Bad Day (Is that what it was called? Idk.)
Please don't stop the videos!❤ Your work is pure magic ✨✨✨
I totally agree with this comment! I have never seen such incredible illustrations in my life! I love watching this!
Some excited to have stumbled across your channel! I’m trying to figure out how to take my watercolor and illustrations up a notch, and you’re a two for one! Awesome line work, it does so much of the heavy lifting already!!! Please never stop uploading these videos, I’m learning so much and you haven’t so much as uttered a word!
@@Danawears.dresses Thank you for the kind words! More videos on the way!
The use of vertical lines behind the man and the car was a good choice. Totally worth the viewing!
Much better than AI... ❤❤❤❤
I think your channel is going to be huge, there is nothing else like it, I love it! Please keep making great content like this. Thank you.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
Reminds a lot of the Franco-Belgian comic illustrator style in the comics I read as a kid: Tintin, Thorgal, Blueberry, and Spirou.
incredibly inspired by your work as always. It makes me want to do more traditional art! I've always admired hatching and the dots/lines of inking.
great work! im obsessed
this is such a wonderful illustration! I could stare at that jungle for hours, I love your linework
This is so cool. I want to create inspiring compositions like that one day!
I couldn’t help the smile on my face while watching. Enchanting ❤
Every illustration of yours is amazing! Thanks for sharing ❤
This honestly deserves way more views. Amazing work!
Arte incrível ❤ parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏👏🥲
Naussica ❤❤❤
Me recordó mucho a estilo de Naussica y de Moebius. Excelente 🙂
¡Yo también!
Amazing attention to detail in every stroke, absolutely mesmerizing
beautiful! Dip pen is my favourite tool too. Getting to be rare indeed!
Nice! Your style reminds me of Nausicaä
Fascinated here by the relation between your scribbly, gestural pencils and your precise, delicate inks. Love your work!
It's nice to see the care and attention to detail. As a kid I loved books like "Me and My Flying Machine" by Marissa and Mercer Mayer, the ink and watercolour work in that book stands the test of time as it is beautiful. Just like this wonderful work.
I don't know what it is about your illustration, perhaps because it's so enchanting? Anyway, it has emboldened me to pick up the pen again to start drawing regularly, no matter how small or casual, even if I'm currently feeling the pressure of grad school.
I've forgotten that being human means our souls just need to create sometimes. Thanks for uploading this.
Delightful! Thank you for sharing.
Stunning! I like the perspective from the traveler, coming across this massive jungle.
It looks magical. I'm waiting for more of your videos, especially about flora and fauna.❤
Wow beautiful work! I could stare at it and just get lost in all the details for a long time. Really sparks the imagination.
You remembered me of the beauty in art again, after I was hopeless
Excellent work! Thanks!
So beautiful! More of the long form please 💚
Восхитительная работа. Вы так трудолюбивы и талантливы, а еще видно, что вам нравится процесс. Круто.
Beautiful ❤
Watching you barely touch the paper with the dip pen made me realize that I've been using mine wrong, I’m pressing too hard. Great video, Nausicaä is one of my favorites.
Magnificent ! Feels more like a sea of decay than a jungle tho :)
¡Quedó precioso!
Love it!
Simply amazing! I love your style...Thank you for sharing your process.
Love the organic. So good.
thats a gorgeous piece
wow wow wow your hatching is absolutely beautiful
Man, I was contemplating on getting Kuretake watercolors, since they were the most affordable option in my area. It's nice to see them in action! 😄💕
Your art is just amazing 😭💕
This makes me think of the gorgeous illustration for the secret of mana games cover !
I can only guess how much concentration and time it would take to create this type of drawing..Great work! keep posting
Thats an obscene amount of focus and patience
Love it!
thanks for sharing the process ♡♡♡
Wunderschön! ❤
今週,ナウシカの原作を読み直していたのでこの絵を見てなつかしい感じがしました。
シダ植物の渦巻きがかわいいです❤
Im so empowered to one day draw wicked stuff like this
você me inspira muito. obrigado.
I just love your art and i wish you make some tutorials or live drawing videos
prediction: you'll have over 10,000 followers by next summer.
So cool :)
You have inspired me. But I am starting off small. Little 3 x 5 sizes, lol. I need to learn how to do this.
your intro tell as how you care artistic touch. just perfect. please go in
I am, The LA Beast. And this is the extreme art challenge *throws up a bunch of paint and art supplies*. seriously though. I have to put my own music to this to watch cause the music just reminds me of LA beast scarfing down random crap lol. IYKYK
好強!好棒!好厲害! ❤❤❤
訂閱!!!🎉🎉🎉
REally fantastic work. I'm curious if Moebius was a big source of inspiration on this one.
工简绚丽,太喜欢这种画风了❤不常见
Do you illustrate books or comics? Would be amazing to see a comic in this style. It reminds me of Miyazaki's watercolour style from Ghibli.
@@lieslemmens7762 Yes! I illustrate children’s books for a living and ocassionally work in visual development for animation as well. I am actually working on a graphic novel right now set to publish in 2026.
@@Henderverse Ooh that is so cool. I keep an eye open for it. ;)
i hope i can be as good of an artist as you are someday
❤❤❤
Please more erasing footage! Beautiful work.
just missing a pop of red.. otherwise.. amazing.. your linework is what makes it so good... spacing between the hatching and knowing where to place them. Good thing that fly escaped too...
Please little man, you gotta explore this jungle. Carefully, but you gotta go ahead.
I love your work and style! Do you notice a difference in look and feel when you use a dip pen versus any other inking tool? Im thinking of getting a fountain pen but not sure what the difference would be versus a regular inking pen
Hi. Most of Fountain pens Inks aren't waterproff, so, if you use watercolor over it it will be a mess. I use a Lamy Safary with DeAtramentis Document ink and it is waterproff. But you have to use the fountain pen a lot or the ink will dry in the pen.
Wow, beautiful illustration! Do you feel like using a dip pen slows you down at all vs a fine liner?
I love this so much! (Also, what is the song? I know it but can't place it.)
It looks like illustration for movie "Annihilation" 😮
You should do a reef scene! I bet that would look great with the color
@@codysutherland4379 That sounds fun! I’ll put it on my list
Hello,
I'm super glad that your channel was recommended to me. I am an absolute fan.
I am currently learning watercolor and have a question : did you humidify the whole board before starting to apply watercolor ?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I see some Dr. Seuss elements.
Hey, lovely video! I apologize if this has been asked a bunch before, but I was wondering, what qualities of line encourage you to use a dip pen rather than another type of pen? Thanks for showing us your process!
@@AgentLym Thank you! I like the variation of line width, and it’s more economical. One bottle of ink lasts as long as several disposable pens, and is generally cheaper. I have been using the same $5 bottle for every video on this channel up until now, and it’s not even empty yet. I also got tired of constantly buying new pens, and didn’t like throwing away that much plastic.
@@Henderversehello. I use dip pen because the ink is stronger when you erase the pencil and have lightfastness, also usually is waterproof. Not all the markers can say that.
"Have a good day!"
Very Moebius! I like it. What nib are you using?
@@thewildadversary Thanks! It’s a Speedball 512
I just found you tonight when I watched the castle scene you did, which was awesome. I enjoy illustration art myself, but I am nowhere near this level. But I have to ask, I tend to use .005 fineliners (such as Pigma micron, Uni-Pin, or edding 1880). Can I ask what the main reason you use a dip pen instead of a fineliner, or just a matter of preference?
@@ZannerBatman Thanks! The main reason I use a dip pen is cost. One $5 bottle of ink lasts as long as several fineliners, in fact all of the drawings on my channel up to now was with the same bottle, and it’s not even empty yet. I also like the variable width of the pen nibs, and collecting different holders.
@@Henderverse Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. You are quite right in regards to expense. And really, it's better for the world, less plastic to throw away. I have lots of ink, and some different pens and nibs, but for some reason I just don't feel very confident using them. I will say though, after watching your videos tonight, I intend to try a bit more. I really, really love your style of art. Not sure if you're familiar with Tomislav Tomic, but I'm a huge fan, and your art reminds me a lot of his style (with a little bit of Kerby Rosanes thrown in). I have subscribed to your channel and would love to see more of your creations. I might even watch your videos again later! 😊
@@HenderverseI also collect dip prn holders XD
hello. I use dip pen because the ink is stronger when you erase the pencil and have lightfastness, also usually is waterproof. Not all the markers can say that.
How do you keep the blank ink from bleeding?
Also, do you have a website,is your artwork for sale?
Do you have an online marketplace for someone wanting to browse and potentially purchase some of your work?
My friend, are these drawings available for purchase?
how long did this take?
@@TyCliffe I made it over the course of a week, a couple of hours a day.
@@Henderverse you're awesome. Please keep making cool stuff, you make the world better
I don’t know. Maybe try more detail. 😉
