My niece and her husband and daughters live in a relatively new development in St. Albert and feel fine with the high property taxes given all that's available in St. Albert! They don't complain. My niece is from Vancouver, where I am and Tim is from Lac La Biche, and they do love the area! It helps that they are successful! I love visiting! Cheers!

Awesome, I am super glad to hear they are enjoying the city and happy with the move. I do agree that the higher property taxes are worth it to live in such a beautifully green and well-maintained city. Cheers!

Great video. Knowing the negative side of living in a city is pretty helpful. Thanks!

What value are you getting for your taxes? The roads in Edmonton are basically donkey trails.

I’m impressed that you addressed the lack of diversity. As a black male, I didn’t consider that as an issue before moving here from Pittsburgh PA. I learned pretty quickly that a lack of diversity means a lack of a diversity of services. It’s really embarrassing walking into a barbershop to get a haircut and being turned away because the barbers can’t style “that kind of hair.”

Some people complain that St.Albert is getting too built up and too populated and busy. I came here as a young child in 1988 and it definitely has changed. I think the population was around 42k, correct me if I’m wrong I won’t be offended. That being said, it still has a small community feel in a way. Like any other community, you can be as connected or disconnected as you want from it. If you still don’t like it, then move to Sturgeon County, it’s way more tranquil than St.Albert. Still like St.Albert DGMW, but where I live it’s quiet, it’s more beautiful and I love that my house is just minutes from St.Albert. I turn left on my highway, I’m in Edmonton. I feel like I get the BEST of all 3 worlds.

Yes I agree that although St. Albert is growing quickly, it still has the smaller community charm. 100%!

they need to stop the building, it will ruin the safety and small town feel. I come from North Vancouver so I know snobby, St. Albert is not that.

Sherwood Park is way better. St Albert has one main road. Thats it. Most overated city in the province.

I have nothing bad to say about Sherwood Park! Also a great city with many of the same benefits of St. Albert and lower property taxes. Thanks for commenting

Some areas in Sherwood Park have terrible internet connection… it’s terrible but one of the retirement homes there (i won’t name which one) have terrible reception. They called Telus and Shaw and both said the problem is the city (or hamlet, i guess since Sherwood Park is technically not even a city). So basically, just live with it was what they were told…

High property taxes….but still subsidized by Edmonton tax payers. Vastly more St Albert residents work and use the infrastructure of Edmonton vs the other way around.
Love hearing St Albert residents complain about traffic on the roads they don’t pay for and make congested by their choice to have long commutes.
