This is one of the best LIVE performances I've heard, of one of my favorite JB songs. Summer of 1980, drinking a beer with a beautiful young girl in a pub on Nantucket Island , when " She was a friend to me when I needed one" came out of the jukebox. I was thunderstruck, yeah buddy, young and in love..Thanks Jackson, it was a moment! Glad you're playing it again, it's a wonderful song.
In the Spring of 2017 when Valerie Carter died , Jackson Browne confided to an audience that he wrote this song for her and that he had loved her for many years.
@@guitarbo1 Good to know. Turns out song writers Will Jennings and Tom Jans were good friends with Valerie and inserted her name in this song. Not nearly as interesting as the thought that Steve Winwood loved her.
To a girl that helped me get through a break up of someone I loved for seven year's. Donna you saved me in the 80's your love was divine thank you for ever. Hope you found the right man. Wishing you peace divine! JB sings a song by that very name, it's on yt.
@@rmw837 Agree. A backup singer shouldn't try to outdo the lead singer especially when you are only fair, at best. Tone it down. Doubt she ever got another gig with JB .
I truly wish the background singer would remain a background singer, and not interject unnecessary "garbage" / vocals to the performance. When I go to see an artist perform, I want to hear the songs as close to the original recordings as possible. The woman doing back-up vocals just f_cked it all up. Otherwise, a great performance

Awesome! Heard him live at Shoreline in the 80's when I worked there and the music is even better now.

Damn I love this song! Fantastic!
The STUDIO Version Guitar playing and Guitar Tone was Awesome
can't tell if jackson is amazed by her voice or wants to throw something at her lol.
lol - I personally like the second option. I'm not sure who the woman is who is singing back-up, but I'm pretty sure this song isn't about her!

Great version!!! Sounds spot on
Jackson needs to bring this group and Sara on tour with him. We can only hope.
🌹
lol the bad ass band backing him up look like they probably weren’t even born when the song came out. But they are doing it right, this rocks 🤘🏼
That girl was sane, she was sane....
What a dynamite background vocalist!
These vocals make me ..Melt!! Simple! ❣️❤️🩹💝💖🫶
Didn’t see the brand name on his Keyboard

Doreen Piazza-Randal fuck off.
@@ATalkingBadger Hey you fuck off they were just trying to help.
I was always told it was about Janis Joplin but Jackson Browne would know better than anyone
That’s what I’m thinking, right or wrong….”She wasn’t much Good at Staying Alive, but That Girl Could sing”….🎤
This. Live. Show izzz evidence. Of. This. Bands

Wow, that girl can back up chorus. WOW!
Pretty decent rendition but leaves out the incredible guitar work the original had.

Browne singing like a 21 year old...

Jackson's song for his girlfriend, Laura Nyro.
