Riding the Katy Trail With My 69 Year Old Dad - Day 7 - Bike Ride From St. Charles To Machens

July 2023 - Day 7 of our 7 day bicycle ride on the Katy Trail.
I ride my bike about 13 miles from St. Charles to Machens, where I was able to ring the NEWLY repaired bell. My dad picked me up in Machens so I didn't have to make the return ride to St. Charles. This was great because it gave us more time to spend with my brother and his family in St. Louis. We were starving and decided to cook a meal together instead of eating out. The food was amazing! It was the perfect way to end our adventure.

great job,,,by both of you!!! a friend and i also just did Kansas City to St Louis via the Katy this past July! it was a great first bike camping trip for both of us and i think we are hooked! can't wait to do more of these adventures! we used Amtrak to get us from Chicago to KC and then St Louis to Chicago,,,and it was a great option, especially since it was very affordable and we didn't have to box up our bikes!

Thank you! Your trip sounds amazing! I love bikes and I love riding the trains! Plus the fact that you didn't have to box the bikes is super cool! The rail line nearest my house requires bikes to be in boxes, and this has prevented me from using the train for my trips. Happy trails and enjoy the new addiction!
