- Vela Luka, Croatia - Vela Luka is the Largest town on Korcula island and has a lot going for it. Famous Croatian Singer Oliver Dragojevic wrote Sjećanje na Vela Luku (Remembering Vela Luka) about his love for this, his beautiful home town. Famous singer Jasna Zlokić is also from Vela Luka!
Today we explore this quiet town and some of the notable spots like Vela Spila, a large cave with a history of human habitation for over 20,000 years. We walk along the in-progress longest continuous mosaic in the world, take a stroll along the harbor and visit a local beach near hotel Adria.

@@PureDetour Yes, a beautiful song, but he just sang it, it was written by another guy from Vela Luka, and a friend, Oliver's version was most popular, however. It was never recorded by Oliver for any album, though, the recording is probably from a live performance.

We’re off to Korcula end of this month for a week . Is it worth hiring a car in order to see as much of the island as possible?
Hi! You're going to love Korcula! Vela Luka, Korcula town, Lumbarda, etc are all lovely towns. There are buses if you like, but a car would be more convenient obviously. If you have a car you can also get to Orebic on a quick car ferry and visit all the lovely wineries on the Peljesac peninsula and best seafood in Ston/Mali Ston area.
Correction: Oliver Dragojevic (greatest legend of all time) sang 'Sjećanje na Vela Luka". I believe Branko Žuvela Doda is the author of Croatian song " Sjećanje na Velu Luku "

People keep correcting us on this. It may be a European vs North American thing. To us, any large body of salt water can be called ocean, we'll have to get used to calling it the sea.
@@PureDetour everyone in the world except you in N.America when they say ocean they mean one of the 3, Pacific, Atlantic or Indian and that is the only correct one, all the rest are seas.
@@ostojamartrix, Well Angela was trying to be nice about it, I won't . Seas (outside a few irrelevant ones) , and gulfs for that matter, are connected to oceans. The only differentiating factor is that seas are partially enclosed by land. They are as a matter of fact an extension of the ocean. Now if you feel the continued need to play semantics on the internet, go do it on someone else's channel or find a hobby
