Spot! The Professional Fossil Hunter’s Find?🤔

- Did you find that fossil ammonite quickly? I could see the eroded keel of the ammonite protruding out of the stones. The fossil ammonite is called Liparoceras sp. , its a 180 million year old ammonite, found at low tide along the Jurassic Coast. The ammonite was an ancient marine sea creature. I recommend wearing safety spectacles and sturdy gloves when using a geological hammer. I go fossil hunting at low tide for these little fossils, i stay away from the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning. My UA-cam channel @Lyme Regis Fossils has some longer fossil hunting videos on it. I called my channel "Lyme Regis Fossils" on UA-cam. Its a geologists dream to live and work in a place where the earth`s history is being revealed every day.

I can't believe I found this fossil hunting surprise!🤔(Part 1)- This is a longer video that I made on UA-cam, about an awesome ammonite that I found !
It's strange seeing the ammonite not embedded in a concretion.
You get quite a few of these that wash out of the mudslides and soft shales along the Jurassic Coast
Nice Ammonite.. unfortunately a very small section at the end is missing but still a very nice find.
Thanks 🙏
Mary anning used to find these she basically was a palaeontologist they called those curiosities back then
That’s exactly right she’d be out along the beach with her little dog Tray, finding fossils at low tide !
Me be like: 'Omg a big SNAIL😂'
Thought they were always enclosed in rock.
That one isn't damaged or even eroded in places .
It is actually got a little chunk missing!
Lipaceras
I got a smaller version of that at an antique store. It is my first fossil in the collection!
Well spotted it’s fun 🤩 when you find them too like that at an antique store
Wow, you found a marine life from Paleozoic thats cool.
That fossil looks like a my baby of the shell
That's a big one! It's only when I saw your foot enter the frame I realised how big it was!
Thanks 🙏 yes 🙌 it’s good to have scale in there
I used to collect lots of fossils when a child fifty years ago growing up in the seventies .My dad would take us down to the shingle beaches on the Dorset and Devon coastlines
Excellent 👌 that was me too, my father a geologist took our family fossil collecting at Charmouth at low tide
Fantastic find.🎉🌊🌞
I couldn’t believe it was sitting there like that, I’d found nothing that day until then
There is one imposter among us… rock edition
A fossil Liparoceras sp. ammonite washed onto the shoreline from a mudslide. The sea does the work for you washing out a lot these ammonite specimens along the Jurassic Coast- especially in the Winter. The best time to go fossil collecting is at low tide
Pokemon irl confirmed that's omanyte lol
Omanyte is based of ammonites
That's gorgeous!!!
A very nicely eroded ammonite from the Jurassic Coast 🍀- found at low tide
I just found some Ammonite today
А в середине камня как бутобы лицо
A fossil ammonite found at low tide along the Jurassic Coast
The rock above the "L" in "Fossil" looks like it has a face of lion or dog on it
Yes 🙌 well noticed
I found 2 small rocks but I swear they look like clams
That ammonite is called Liparoceras sp. It’s a funny looking one that species
Look what I just put there
The kids do well finding these in the Winter months with me on my guided fossil walks. All sorts of ammonite fragments wash out here along the Jurassic Coast. This one I found is called Liparoceras sp. You can google it
is jurassic coast in england? if so do u know how far away it is from cumbria? Thanks :)
Thanks 🙏 yes the Jurassic Coast is on the South Coast
About 7 hrs
@@LymeRegisFossils thanks :)
Went to Lyme Regis this week and found nothing, searched for hours, and nothing just open like that, cracked stuff open and all we ended up with was a fossilised shell
The best fossil collecting is the Winter months when the rates of erosion are rapid from the attrition of the sand and sea. The wet weather makes the mudslides flow and these get washed away with fossils then ending up on the beach. The really dry weather of late has meant there is less to find 🙌. In the last few days though at low tide some people have been collecting some good stuff as there has been some rough seas
Nicely, sea worn.👍💯💥✨️
Thank you! Cheers!
It looks more like a nautilus fossil than an ammonite
Yes, true but it’s a Liparoceras sp. Ammonite from Golden Cap along the Jurassic Coast at low tide
@@LymeRegisFossils cool, thanks for the info!!
Thank you 🙏
He look Alive again how he is well preserved

Und das liegt da einfach so herum? Beim nächsten Mal komme ich mit.😂
The fossil walkers on my guided tours get some nice 👌 finds like this at low tide - along the Jurassic Coast.
Nice wish I was there to so I could try to find one for me!!!
It’s really good fun finding fossils in the Winter months along the Jurassic Coast - at low tide
This looks.... So prehistoric!
Yes, 🙌 a really good ammonite find from the Jurassic Coast!
@@LymeRegisFossils what's a ammonite?
That’s an ancient marine sea 🌊 creature I found fossilized in limestone along the Jurassic Coast- at low tide. It’s called Liparoceras sp. and they are quite numerous in that certain area, especially the pieces of them . They get washed out of the mudslides and onto the beaches by the sea’s actions
@@LymeRegisFossils what did it look like?
“ Fossil Hunting Suprise 🤔(Part 2) “ Here you can see my longer UA-cam video I made and a model of an ammonite that I show off .
Parabéns meu amigo Deus abençoe tamos juntos 💯👏👍🤝
There might be multiple fossils in that area but we cant see them

Where were you? I'll put it on my bucket list.
The Jurassic Coast, U.k I do guided fossil walks along the beach East of Lyme Regis - at low tide .

The sea 🌊 washes them out of the soft mud, they erode out onto the beaches along the Jurassic Coast!
hmmmm freshly peeled?
You find a lot of “ body chambers” and fossils like these along the Jurassic Coast- at low tide. Google Liparoceras sp. Androgynoceras sp.
Hey Brandon Lennon funny enough I went to the Lyme Regis fossil museum and saw ur name on holiday congrats!. Also I wonder how your Finding these fossils during a “global fossil reduction” as I am an expert myself and have found only 1 rock turned over a partial ammonite. HOW??
I am always fossil collecting in the middle of winter when the storms are raging in and washing fossils out onto the beaches at low tide - when I go collecting. I’ve had 45 years experience fossil collecting so a bit of skill , quite a lot of luck 🍀
@@LymeRegisFossils well I guess you prove me wrong. It’s a shame though because My holiday in the summer and about a 5 hour drive to Lyme. fair when u hunt I did find my biggest fish vertebra yet that time in the mud somewhere in Kent.
You're funny 😂
Global fossil reduction 😂😂
What will they think of next 😂😂
Oh but you're an "EXPERT" aren't you 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ii remeber when i was visiting dominican repuplic with my family we went to this river and i found 7 of these!
Rivers seem to be good places for washing out fossil finds 🙌

Damn that’s absolutely wild, I have to go sometime because it just seems too perfect ya know. Thank you for the lesson!
The Jurassic Coast really is wild in places, where there have been big landslides down to the sea. One stretch is 7 miles long, a complete wilderness from Lyme Regis to Seaton

It'a wonder how tgat stone can keep its own shape for 16mil years.
It was contained within marine sediments then washed out of them and onto the beach. It had probably been on the beach a week or two
ammonite can't be found like this its in a special rock
These ones wash out of the mudslides and onto the beaches, the sea does the work for you. Google Liparoceras sp. Or Androgynoceras sp. body chambers Jurassic Coast to see lots of images of other ones that have been found
