    So beautiful. Just blows my mind. At first I'm not sure what you're trying to paint but after all the detail is done, it looks amazing. I don't paint but I enjoy watching your videos so much. I always look forward to next weeks painting and listening to your soft mellow voice. You have a great gift to go along with your sweet personality.

    Very nice...this painting is all about creating depth and visual interest through layers of color, texture. Nicely executed..your brushstrokes sculpting the paint to create the form of the mountains and rock. Nice color palette for this piece- a range of cool toned values of blue...the addition of Brown, grey, and purple tempers the highly saturated pops of color....the addition of ochre adds interest and balance..The overall blanket of snow soft white with its shadows unifies the piece-building texture without being visually distracting. The piece renders a visual feel of immense and majestic mountains..as well as a calm and serene feel. Nice work Kevin..

    Какие-то мягкие получилось горы на заднем плане. В такой местности, по идее, должно быть много выступов, обрывов, резких линий. Видимо, таково было настроение художника )

    I haven't watched the video (won't be able to till later) but I jumped to the very end to look at the final result and all I have to say is a few cuss words and blasphemes and using the Lord's name in vain in expressing how awesome this painting ended up being. I asked for a Bierstadt-style a long time ago and sans-glowing light, I think this landscape is a very close approximation of something he'd be happy to paint. Thank you, looking forward to seeing you working on it. Bob Ross would've added a small cabin, Church a cross, Bierstadt a sunset (or buffalo lol), Cole a hidden waterfall, Kinkade an N... I'd love to know what you hide in your paintings :)

      he's amazing. but i think Bierstadt had a ton more detail and depth in his paintings. i mean his pictures literally looked like photographs. i don't think anyone else has ever been able to do anything like Bierstadt

    Awesome winter scene, Kevin! In (at least) one of your other videos, you mentioned that you varnish your paintings. How long do you wait before varnishing them after you complete them? Thanks!

    Do you prepare your canvas with gesso? Or not necessarily? And one more question what do you think about painting on wood instead of canvas ? And why? Thank you so much :)

    Hi Kevin
    When I look at your canvas it always looks very smooth (as if it were paper finish smooth). Do you buy your canvases as is? If so what are the specifications (besides the size of the canvas), or do you pre-sand them to make them smoother? Or is it just the distance of the camera playing tricks on me?
    Love your work, keep it up!

      Hi, Kevin uses a double primed - medium textured all ready bought canvas. Look on his website for the medium he uses for soft blends such as the sky and water. Also, he has a Q@A I cannot find on his site, I googled it and he has a lot of good info there. Hope this helps..have fun painting.

    Do you use photos or pictures when painting as a refrrence, or is that all from your imagination? Either way, outstanding work!! ps: I'm an oil painter myself!

    • @adarkerlight
      @adarkerlight 9 років тому +1

      He has a video he recorded live (with chat) on UA-cam Live that you can find where he answers questions and he says he always uses reference photos to at least work out the composition and placement of objects in his paintings. I was telling this to someone on a graphic design video: references are fantastic and should be used regularly. What comes out of your imagination are the details (and with painting, stuff happens you don't necessarily intend but that look fantastic). Great question though, and I always jump on it and answer them lol Connor Rock

    Beautiful work, would you be willing to paint swimming pool water? It doesnt sound so beautiful, but the patterns and colors can look really good in the water.... and if you havent done it already, would be a new challenge =) Or tropical water, has similar shapes.... yeah tropical water is better...

      Hi, if you checkout Kevin has a video of tropical palm trees, and on his website he has an packet "Tropical Waters," very detailed instruction with close up pics of each step. Very nice scene.

      If you look at Kevin's older videos he has an unedited night scene of a seascape and a edited vid of a mountain waterfall night scene as well. Also, on his website He has a DVD of a seascape night scene with the illusion of rain..nice. Enjoy
