    I'm from Hungary, and now I'm stunned. Do people in other countries sit on benches outside when it's cold? Really? O.O How strange. :)
    So true, we always warn each other not to sit on cold surfaces, but I've never thought it's a cultural thing. ^_^

    "Don't sit there! You are not going to have children!" OMG, this is so typical :D :D

    A few years back I worked in a summer camp in Wisconsin and I was shocked that the kids were given water pitchers full of ice along with their meals. We would never do that in Hungary.
    The nose blowing thing is very weird for me. It's very rude to sniff in Hungary. I thought the norm is you blow your nose whenever you need it :)

    dont get cold, means they care about you and everyone who they see. take it as a positive thing. ;) if you dont recover from cold 100% you can feel all the pain in your joints as you re getting older, this is a knowledge from our ancestors. simple as that.

    Hungarian language is a tough one but the same time incredible. I mean it's hard to deal with the grammar, even Hungarians get confused some times, but once you master it , it can be so beautifully effective in communication, preceise in descriptions and meaningfull in it's wealth of words.
    No wonder Hungarians are smart.
    Among the invention of fire, using tools and other great things in evolution, verbal communication was one developing the human brain much. Verbal communication -language- is the most effective and thus mostly used way to communicate.
    Languages are code systems which people learn at their early age. Languages are deeply rooted in the mind. So deep they preset the mind, what the mind comprehend and how it relate to things.
    Having a more complex language indicates more brain activity. :)

      Cé Té yes we had we Turks mixed a little bit with Persians but you Hungarias mixed a lot with Russians and slavs it seems.

    • @cete1905
      @cete1905 9 років тому +9

      We didn't mix much with Russians and Slavs. We are friends with Poland, you know - and we both use a rare double letter (sz). In Polish language, it's the English sh, and in Hungarian, it's the English s. And we use a lot of double or triple letters (cs, zs, dzs, dz, ty, gy, etc.) and that's what's similar with Slavic languages. But our language haven't really changed or mixed after 1000 years. We can still easily understand the oldest writings of the past. And if we write Hungarian words with Turkish alphabet (I tried it) it's almost the same as Turkish.

    • @drillasbarbies
      @drillasbarbies 9 років тому +4

      Cé Té yes, your language looks a little like Turkish and Polish mixed. We don't use that kind of stuff. We have many arabic, persian, greek word but our writing style is still Turkish.
      Many Hungarians today have blonde hair, blue eyes etc. Isn't that weird? Your ancestors the huns had black Hair and asian-looking eyes :D

    I am not sure how we do it In Portugal, but I personally find similar to Hungary. Hate ice in my water and prefer to blow my nose ( although never in front of people eating!) than earring people sniffling! People sniffling annoy me royally!!!

    I visited Miami two years ago, the heat was almost unbearable, and when they served ice water in restaurants that were already pretty chilly thanks to the air conditioning, I thought my throat will just become a huge lump of ice. xD

      And drinking very cold liquid actually makes your body start heating up to counter the cold temperature, which makes you feel even hotter on a hot day.

    Interesting one, and true, about the runny nose. Sniffing is considered very rude in Hungary, but oddly enough, sneezing or blowing your nose around other people, even loudly, isn't. When you do that, people will say "to your health", whereas in England sniffing is forgiveable, while you're expected to go out of the room to blow your nose and sneezing in public is also considered very rude if you can possibly avoid it - for obvious reasons: people don't want to catch your cold. In Hungary, people seem to be down with colds a lot of the time - perhaps that's one of the reasons for it? There's certainly NO attempt to prevent other people from catching your germs...

    Well personally, i think putting ice in drinks is such a hassle, and by the time it cools down, you can drink a few glasses of water. Plus tap water can be "ice cold", so we really don't feel the need to cool it down.
    Oh, and some people, like my mother and grandmother can't drink too cold drinks, because they get a toothache or sore throat immediately.
    But it is just my opinion.

    Hi I'm a Hungarian, now I watching your videos, I think the most is true. And I have an answer why we drink hot tea in the summer, as I can remember my theacher said to me if we drink hot than our body gets warmed and then our body try to cool themselves because if the body tempeture is too high is bad so thats why we drink hot drink in summer. And I think is logical. I hope is gets to you. (and sorry for my langauge I'm not too good at it.)

      We drink hot tea to warm up our bodies (yes, even more). Because of the elevated body temperature we would feel the air (around us) less hot. Plus we sweat more and it's also an exothermic process. :-)

    Let me add, you are absolutely right, blowing nose not just acceptable anywhere but it's very weird, almost impolite (little bit insulting) if you sniffle around someone. :)

    Sounds like facts from Poland ;). Except for blowing nose... Both sniffling and blowing nose loudly is rather impolite, so runny nose is a big problem in public places. :D

    Americans don't blow their noses in public? Like never ever? If you're out the whole day, you won't blow your nose until the evening when you arrive home? 😂😂

    You really can not sit outside in the winter! or you can, but you don't do it for yourself. you know if the name of the month contains the letter "R", its surely too cold to sit outside even at the bus stop, and you can get really sick what is dangerous especially for women. It seems funny, but its true :)

    I am Hungarian, and I don't think it is polite to blow your nose in public. I think it is disgusting. Intelligent people blow their nose in the toilet. Of course if you are very ill, it's okay but otherwise it is just disgusting and not polite at all.
