One of the fun facts about this movie is that Stu is not an actor. He actually is an IT tech named Stu who went to school with Taika. Apparently he thought he only had a bit part in the movie until he saw it at the premiere. Oh, and the show is 100% worth checking out. Just as hilarious as the movie.
Another fun fact is that Stu, later in his career, ended up being a founder of a film lighting/engineering-ish company. About the vampire and silver: silver was supposed to be sacred, so it's not good for vamps. It's also why they couldn't reflect in mirrors, because they were made with silver. Nowadays they're not anymore, so they should be able to reflect.
But mirrors still have a very thin layer of silver on the back of glass which makes the glass reflective. Copper I believe is thinly layered over the silver and then a thicker layer of just paint.

Oh I think you may have missed some references to a lot of other vampire movies... you should watch Francis Ford Coppola's 'Dracula', 'Lost Boys' and 'Fright Night'. Also the Nosferatu is not the name of the vampire, Nosferatu is more of another word for a vampire. The vampire's name is Count Orlok. A great movies about that is 'Shadow of a Vampire'. Oh and maybe the 1992 movie, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. Or the 1932 'Dracula' with Bela Lugosi. Or Mel Brook's, 'Dracula's Dead and Loving It' I love vampire movies....... so... yeah.

Rhys? Present.
Jermaine Clement is also in the film, too.
Literally saw this movie for the first time yesterday, then you post a reaction to it. What are the odds lol
Me too!
Apparently a lot of the stuff in the movie was improv from the actors.
This is such a great movie and my absolute go to, if I've had a bad day/week. It always makes me laugh and cheers me up.
YES!!! The show next :)
I'm team Nadja!
Literally watched this because I knew I would see unadulterated joy on your face the whole way through.
Was not disappointed
YES DUDE. This and Hot Fuzz are the best modern comedies period. That the movie can be so funny and have such unexpected depth to it as well in like a gut punch scene towards the end is just amazing
Hell yeah! When you get some extra time/show spot opens up the What We Do in The Shadows show would be some great reactions.
The next Taika Waititi film you should watch is Boy. Its probably one of his best films in my opinion
You would love Flight Of The Conchords. It’s got the same type of New Zealand humor and a couple of the same cast members.
One of my favorite movies! I hate showing it to people because most of the jokes go over their heads, or they say it’s boring. I love how much you loved it!
I also like swedish Let the Right One In, if we're talking about vampire movies
1000% yes
Definitely one of the best vampire films.
Got so excited when I saw the title! This is my official 3rd favorite film ever. The humor is just amazing and witty. A great idea taken to perfection.
The tv series is freaking gold as is Flight of the Concords which features Jermaine clement in it (vlad) and the leader of the werewolves (Rhys Darby)
Spon on with that Beast prediction, lol. This movie and the TV series are simply brilliant.
Also check out the show: 'Wellington Paranormal', it features the two Cops from this in the lead roles and is rather delightful!💖
Been binging a lot of your videos lately. I love the reactions as they seem genuine and it gives me a reason to watch the films/series again. Keep up the good work!
Definitely recommend watching the show . In fact it would make for some great reactions. Taika is a producer and he directs a few episodes. It definitely lives up and keeps the same spirit of the movie. It's easily one of my favorite shows.
You have become one of my favorite content creators. This movie is awesome. Even the show is really good.
Brandon, my dude, you have out of nowhere become my favorite reactor on UA-cam. Nothing SUCKED about this reaction.
This makes me so homesick for my home town, Wellington 😍
This movie is just so great! I came across it by accident in the library and brought it home and I'm so glad I did. What a hoot! One of the best comedies I've seen in years.
one of my favorite movies of all time! so glad to see someone on yt finally react to it
Oh I think you may have missed some references to a lot of other vampire movies... you should watch Francis Ford Coppola's 'Dracula', 'Lost Boys' and 'Fright Night'.
Or Mel Brook's, 'Dracula's Dead and Loving It'
I love vampire movies....... so... yeah.
Hell yeah! This is one of my favorite comedies out there. High five to whoever recommended this one.
This was unexpected but a pleasant surprise! What We Do in the Shadows is in my top 5 favorite comedies ever and by far one of the best of the 2010s. It's a shame it's not more popular
Also if you don't know Flight of the Conchords, Vlad is Jemaine Clement and he's part of the duo. They're absolutely hysterical and one of the best musical comedy acts ever. Their old show is on HBO and it's definitely worth checking out, if not just their music
Jemaine Clement also directed this with Taika. Love his style of comedy.
TV show turned out to be really good as well. Taika and Jemaine were both involved with writing and directing the episodes for the first and second season. As a huge fan of this movie I highly recommend the show!
Brandon, your pronunciation of one of our Maori directors; thank you for doing it properly 👌
If you enjoy our kiwi humor, some other great NZ comedies I also recommend;
Hunt for the Wilderpeople (Directed by Taika Waititi)
Eagle vs Shark (Directed by Taika Waititi)
The Breaker Upperers (Directed by Jackie van Beek who played the Familar in this movie)
Some other amazing NZ movies:
Savage (drama around the life in a NZ gang)
Boy (Directed by Taika Waititi about growing up as a young Maori)
Once Were Warriors (another NZ gang drama starring Temuera Morrison)
The Piano (drama about migrating from UK to NZ in the early 20th century)
Heavenly Creatures (crime drama starring Kate Winslet & Melanie Lynskey)
Whale Rider (modern setting based around Maori folklaw and tradition and small town life)
Brandon, I’m so happy you reviewed this film! Truly a hidden gem. I love sharing this movie with others, never shown it to someone who didn’t find it hilarious.
Anyways, I started going through some of your older videos and am on Arrival. You said you’ve only seen a handful of alien/disaster movies. You should review District 9! Last I checked it’s on Netflix, and it’s my favorite alien film by far. I’d love to hear what you think.
The show is just as good. Definitely give it a go!
If you enjoy this, I really recommend ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, which was a huge influence, and is a bonafide classic comedy.
Your pronunciation of Taika Waititi is fantastic. You're the only youtuber i've seen who says it correctly.
