- Part three of this commission is all about the fitted kitchen! I begin with laying a real beach flooring, before starting the kit to build the kitchen cupboards. It's a long job, but so satisfying to see it coming together!

Thank you!!! for the tip about placing a piece of card to line up the cupboard doors when using pin hinges {I know that is a lot of exclamation marks, but a bane of my dolls-housing has been banished with your simple solution} The kitchen is beautiful--all your extra time& effort does show. The kitschen will be great. Love the green color. Actually my son had a small flat in central Stockolm in culture area with houses built around 1920. He installed a custom built kitchen having the same green color. They även managed to add a small version of a bottle storage. If I remember correct it hade space for 4 bottles. The color is defenitely a quite typical Swedish one. His kitchen hade only space for a maximum of two persons and no space for sitting but all was there fridge, dishwasher, microwave and a small stove. Looking forward to mest video 😀

Yes, the t-shirt made me cry with laughter! 😂 and left handed people are normally more artistic because the left hand is connected with the right side of the brain (which is the "artistic" side) and lots of famous artists were left handed like Van Gogh! 🙂
Love that flooring that you showed. You can get light wood flooring. Which you can use wood dye on. Which I have done in my Victorian doll house. With puting holes in floor I had used a silver pen. To make silver nails in the floor. I love watching Julie warren videos she explains everything. Like you do Richard. Your do good explaining things. In a such a lovely way. And no your not crazy. We love the way you say ( who knows who cares 😊😂). I am making a craft room. Not easy making 1/12 scale. So fiddle. 😊

Once you've cut your pieces, then it's just a matter of glueing them together! You should have a go 🙂

Hi Lana, you hit the nail on the head when you said about real life being tied in with the miniature world. I think in "miniature" every single day. If we watch TV or go out, I'm constantly looking at the architecture and seeing it in 12th scale! Furniture, wall coverings, just everything I see when my eyes are open, until I fall asleep. And sometimes I even have some connection to miniatures in my dreams! ❤️

Thank you Rosemary 🙏 sometimes when I buy bits of furniture, if I'm not too keen on it, I work out if I can change it any way to improve it. But sometimes it's better just to make your own the way you want it to be! 😊

Question, what were those blue clamps you used to clamp the cupboards, the looked like they were held with rubber bands. How intriguing.

It is hilarious to me that you and others put in floor boards and meticulously put tiny indentations to simulate nail holes. My father and both grandfathers were carpenters who prided themselves in "toenailing" floorboards. Each plank ws nailed on the diagonal through the tongue and groove. This kept the flooring from having all those holes. It took much longer, but the effect was very finely finished, soething most people would not notice, but would know it was special. They took longer to do what you take longer to undo! My other question is that you have the name of Amalie. Do you know the names of the couple who own the other buildings?
I could see how someone with knowledge of "toenailing" floorboards would find it hilarious that we tale time to make marks. But in our defence, there are many floorboards around the world that haven't been finished off in that professional way, as a lot of properties never had that kind of work done on them. I've seen floorboards with nails just banged in straight, showing birth round flat heads on, plus I've even seen ones that were screwed into place. But I do agree, that the professional way would cover up those hole marks to make a good finish. But because its not full size like in the full-size world, then in the "miniature" world, we are always looking to add as much as possible to add the "attention" to detail 😀
As far as names go, the folk that inhabit my houses will of course have names (all people have at least one!)😂 it's all part of getting as much enjoyment as possible out of our hobby! And it's great to have such a "loving" community that understands and shares their own thoughts with the rest of us! 🙏😀

Thank you Marie-Anne 🙏 the kitchen is an old kit that my client has had for years! It's made by Elf Kitchens, and they are still online but owned by another lovely couple now. Look them up online, they are lovely people and have lovely items for sale! 🙏😊
