Are Premna cold hardy, can they be kept outside for over-wintering or do they need to be brought in-side? I like the trunks on these trees but I'm limited to what I can bring in-doors...Thanks for sharing...Sequim, Wa...
No, premna are not cold hardy at all. If the plant tissues freeze that portion of the plant will die. I had two groups in the ground, one was protected by overhanging branches of an oak tree and the other was more exposed. Because we barely touch freezing the ones under the oak were fine, The one more exposed died basically to the ground. Amazingly, it actually resprouted and is now just one of the most funky premna I have, really not sure what do with it. I will feature it, along with the ones under the oak, in my next video
