The peace it gives this to the viewer... Living in your own house , doing your things in your own time, give such sence in life. I'm happy I found you. Stay as you are, stay real.
As other people have said below, I watch an episode nearly every day and it is what has got me through our Lockdown through the winter months, here in the UK. The music and views, as the filming pans over the area is just beautiful and brings a peace. There are a lot of troubling matters going on in England at the moment, politically speaking and this vlog centres and calms me - especially after reading the papers! Thank you.
I just stumbled upon your channel and I can't stop watching. As a film editor I can't believe how cinematic your vlogs are. Not only do I enjoy them so much and wish I could replace my work for this nature thriving one, one day, I have to tell you I enjoy watching your videos very much. The aesthetics and film language are really impressive, they go beyond ordinary vlogs. The pace of editing and music and sound choice complement your story. + they have a very calming effect on the viewer as I see from the comments. I wish you all the best and I hope you will continue filming cause it's very interesting and educational, so thank you for sharing.
I couldn't agree more. Not a film editor like you Iana but you can't help but appreciate how well done it is. Matthias and Tova are growing and developing as artists as well as crafters, farmers, ranchers...parents!! I feel like I'm visiting with my Swedish friends or cousins with every episode.
Don't ya just love what Mathias can do with life! The variation in the music to exactly fit the scene is magical. He gets it all right from beginning to end.
Accidentally came across this channel, and it has quickly become my favorite. I’ve been binge watching, and love every single video. Thank you for creating such awesome content, keep up the good work. This is the type of channel I love supporting.
I so enjoy your videos. How beautiful that winter market is. My maternal great grandmother emigrated to the USA from Vaasa Finland and my maternal great grandfather emigrated to the USA from Stockholm Sweden in the late 1890’s. How wonderful it would be to be able to visit both Sweden and Finland to see where they came from. Your videos give me an understanding of how resilient and strong people from there really are. God Bless and keep posting videos.
I found your videos about a month ago; episode 41 first. They are so lovely I immediately subscribed, and began at the beginning. Now on 53, and I have reaped a blessing from you and Tova. Mathias you are truly talented. Driving trucks here in the US is wonderful; although I yearn for a slower pace and a more peaceful existence. I hit your channel and I instantly relax and feel the peace that drifts out of the fabric of each video. Congratulations on your family expansion! Thank you for sharing your wonderful life with us; it is greatly appreciated!!
Yes but please keep these appointments up! I don't want to tell you what happened to me, these appointments are very necessary! only because I love you both! My grandma was swedish and Danish, my grandfather came from Finland! When I watch you both I see what my grandparents and see how they might have lived! It's a blessing to me!
Life can get hard...sometimes we need to remind ourselves we are survivers...thank you for sharing your life, I am beggining new chapter in life by myself and learning so much...it is tough, but so am I....much love to your beautiful family ❤
I truly enjoy your drone footage it’s spectacular. The time lapse of the night sky with northern lights was especially beautiful. Thank you for all the time and effort you both put in to open your hearts and lives with so many of us that cannot do what you are doing. Such fulfillment just watching you both thank you . Sending love hugs and many prayers. Stay safe happy and healthy.
You create such lovely videos. The photography, the music and your comments. It is charming to listen to you searching for the right English word. The Christmas market was very special. How wonderful it would be to visit it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us.
Thank you for your kind words! :) Yes, I was very pleased how the market video turned out. And it is a very nice market, you should definitely visit if you get the chance /Mathias
Beautiful views of the amazing landscape you have there! You are so honest and simple! Difficult find this kind of content on internet. Thank you very much!
I like the life you live, I know it's difficult and demanding, but there is a sense of purpose and it gives you peace, Harmony and enjoyment. We in India have a very different life and I must say, I feel so good that there are still people in this world who live in harmony with nature and build a life around it. I also wish a baby comes your way and would love to see her/him in the days to come. Wish you all the best for 2020.
Hi from Québec ! Thank you so much for your videos!! My husband and i just bougth a land and we want to live off the grid in the more natural way possible. Your videos are so inspiring! Thanx also for the tips and podcast you are sharing ! So helpfull 💚

I came across your channel yesterday and been watching a few videos. Thanks for the link above. I did watch it and it was interesting to listen to both of you. I very much resonated with Mattias views on the school system, sustainability etc., Keep inspiring people and all the best. May you keep doing the things that drive you forward:) You live in such a beautiful place...well I do too, as I keep enjoying the nature so much, in Stockholm. Tara Extra thanks for the bone broth links:)
I'm also raising my own chickens and meat rabbits and, like you, I'm having a hard time doing what needs to get done. That being said, when you put yourself through the whole process, you learn to truly respect and appreciate what keeps you alive.
I used to have a really hard time with the lack of sunlight . Then, I learned to love the winter. Learned to have candles, fluffy blankets on my porch and on my couch.. just learning to say instead now I have to be in the dark and I have to use lights ect. Now I learn to say . OHHH the sun went down!!! Now I get to light candles, and have some slow time. It really did help.
My dad taught me how to clean a chicken when I was young, almost forgot! Tova you look so beautiful in the candlelight with the blue glow off the snow coming through the window behind you! It's visual poetry! So happy for you both!
Your videos are amazing. With bone broth or veggie broth, I use scraps of veggies. I save potato skins, carrot and salary ends, onion and garlic peels and use those for my veggies. I eat the veggies and use what's left. Makes a nice dark flavorful broth. However I can't have livestock where I live to feed them, so I freeze the scraps until I'm ready to make and can broth or soup then compost the used veggies.
Thank you! :) Yes, I've heard about saving the scraps for broth. Need to start saving them instead of composting them directly. Are you freezing them till you get enough scraps?
@@Talasbuan if you eat a lot of veggies in summer, you can keep the scraps the same as veggies. I keep mine in fridge but a cool dark place would work. But eat enough veggies to use scraps within a week to use in summer. I don't eat as much fresh veggies in winter. I eat mostly meats in winter so I freeze the veggie scraps I do have.
Hej ! We have to thank you ! Thanks for sharing all the beauty around you ! The market was great ! I really like scandinavian mythology. As a child Ronja Rövardotter was one of my favorite book. SO happy everything is going well with the pregnancy . Take care of yourself. Merry Christmas and happy New Year !
Thank you so much Stephane! Ronja Rövardotter was also Mathias and mine favourite book/movie, its awesome! :D Swedish folklore are such an amazing subject, love it! We wish you a very happy Christmas! /Tova
It has taken us 10 years (during holidays) to build our off grid place & we hope to be living there permanently next year. It is lovely to see the snow as it is heat wave weather here with bush fires all up the coast, so a lot of smoke in the air for weeks now. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Missing the timbering in favor of seeing traditional Scandinavian Christmas celebration and local handiwork. That video was quite nicely done; showing more of you subtle style -- quite a treat I had not expected. Even so many thousands if miles away, this old man's heart is warmed and excited in anticipation of our first sight of the coming new light in your lives. No doubt, your grandmother is as delighted as when you came to the world, maybe even just tiny bit more. It will just have to be enough to think that we are sharing the same air. I breathe deeply of it and think of you two, glad that we can share it. Stay well, this will be a special Christmas too.
I always feel a sense of peace when watching your videos. The market you guys went to was so neat it seemed like something out of a movie. You are blessed to have such a beautiful and heart rich culture. You know life is good though when theres no place like being home. 👍
We're very glad that you like our videos :) Yes, I was very happy with how the market video turned out. We're so very thankful for our little place here!

Hello, As a Portuguese that lived in Norway for 4 years, you make me travel in my memories, all your videos enable me to still have a connection with that beautiful land that is Scandinavia and his nature. Thank you for the time to share with us public, how you live and for the wonderful and skilled footage and edition that you put out. I also pursue this self-sufficient life as recently started a food garden, for the family here in Portugal. Takk skal du ha. Obrigado :) and all the best for the family.
Thank you so much Jose for your kind words! How come you lived in Norway for those years, work? :) Im so happy that we can bring some memories for you! Happy Christmas to you and your family! /Tova
We have a similar folk museum here in Wales called St Fagans on the edge of the capital - Cardiff. It was inspired by the Skansen museum in Sweden. Most old Welsh buildings were made of stone so moving historic buildings to the site to preserve them is a difficult job. When we were on holiday in Scandinavia we visited Maihaugen in Norway, another beautiful museum with over 200 historic buildings. I am still busy catching up with all your vlogs but they are my treat to myself at the end of the afternoon.
When trying to catch chickens in the open, get a piece of reasonably stiff fencing wire. Then make a Shepard’s hook at one end. You will now be able to slide the hook end under the chicken, pull towards you quickly and you will now have the chickens leg caught. Super video. I do love your sincerity and your wonderful videos. God bless.
So inspiring your videos so much love and peace I'm watching in a daily bases you become family to us especially for those living alone lot of love to you and all the animals from Australia ♥️👏😊
What a wonderful winter market, looks like an amazing time. I started from the beginning on your video vlogs and have really enjoyed them. You two are very inspirational, my wife and I also try to live a much more environmentally friendly lifestyle. It is much harder to do than you would think!! Thank you for sharing your passion
The best bone broth!! I also do our beef bones and put apple cider vinegar. Its so delicious. The flavor is amazing. The market looked wonderful. I seen little bowls like the one you made. The hides were really nice. I can see where you can get inspired. My little grandma is 107 years old. She will be 108 in March if she makes it that far.
Using a pole net, like the kind used for fishing, would make it much easier to catch chickens. Seeing the Christmas market is interesting as they are not common in the states like they are in Europe. And the mythical creatures are very fascinating. All the aerial shots are really beautiful.
It is always a relief to get the butchering behind you. Nicely done. Bone broth is extremely healing. The Winter Market was very interenting. I saw many crafts displayed. Enjoy your visitng.. It is still just the two of you. There is always home work to do and it will be waiting for when you return. The photography is beautiful.. and very vocal. It speaks very much without uttering a word. Thanks for sharing your life...
Really enjoying videos. The English word you were looking for (“first stomach” in the chickens neck) is the crop. Thank you and best wishes for a healthy child.
Haha! Yes! They are the most northern heritage breed found in Sweden. They don't like the new snow so much but they don't mind ice and packed snow. Only if it's below -25°C or so they stay mostly inside the whole day. What kind of chickens do you have?
In English the first stomach of a chicken is the crop. Try chopping up some ginger root and adding to the cooking broth. Adds a nice layer of flavor. Peace.
it is good, you have come to a point when work and chores are far less stressful for you! Easy for me to say!! From your first vlogs to now, feeders, sheds, various things have been built, you are more confident and comfortable in your work and what you do. That is wonderful! Do you have religious beliefs that give you comfort in the hard times?
Thank you for showing us the level of the sun. That always intrigued me when I was in Sweden. The Christmas market was spectacular too see! ❤️ You both look so happy together with the baby on the way. God Jul och Gott Nytt År!!! 😊
Most of my time was spent in Norrköping in 2000 as I stayed with a friend who was an English teacher. I visited Linköping, Söderköping and Stockholm for my final 4 days. Did a lot of hiking along the lakes, eating traditionally as I was with a family, not there as a tourist and learnt how to take the tram by myself and eat pastries without knowing any Swedish back then. (Google translate didn’t exist back then!!! 😂) A big smile and pointing at things helped me out a lot but so did the children around me as they could speak in English to the cashier for me. 😬 It was a beautiful experience ... ❤️❤️❤️
@@SnowinSummer37 I have friends and family in Norrköping and Linköping, nice cities! Haha, what an exciting experience, so you think English wasn't used that much in Sweden in 2000?
That’s too funny!!! Many days I would try and do the tram. The coins for were awkward so I would simply put my hands out and the driver and he would take what I owed. I loved going to the pastry shops alone though. There were was on the Main Street and I loved it so much and even if I couldn’t speak Swedish they knew me and smiled every time I walked in. They knew what I wanted also. You know what? Barriers of language truly have no barriers because sometimes you can just be yourself in another country and it all works out well. 😊
Talasbuan back in 2000 no english was ever spoken much in Sweden (even in Stockholm) from my travels just the kids spoke English. That was 20 years ago though so things might have changed.
Awesome video as usual (great market)! However, I have to admit that I am getting a little lazy e.g. I hate plucking chickens so I build myself a chicken plucker (whizzbang chicken plucker) and I can tell you that plucking chicken has become a joy/fun now. Takes about 5 sec per chicken to pluck it perfectly! We raise&kill about 35 meat birds/year for our family (2 children). Since I build the plucker myself I can fix it (it is easy&basic to build+maintain). Even though it cost me close to 1000$ to build it, I am so happy I did it and that we have the plucker now (one could build it for less if you take more time shopping for materials,..). I don't like the killing part too much but its done quickly and works good (I put the chicken upside down in a cone and cut the head off with a stiff&sharp knife). But its always a trade with money, time, energy and an art to find the right balance. Looks as you two are on the right track, keep it up. Greetings from Nova Scotia
Haha yes! :) Takes some tries to catch them. Thank you! I am curious to know how you found our videos? You seem to have interesting videos, need to take a look :) /Mathias

Haha, in the summer we can't have too many, only in the winter! :) Thank you so much, we wish you a very happy christmas!
I’m so happy that your pregnancy is going well. The first pregnancy is so exciting.
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO !! The very best of good news. I pray for you both that all goes well.
/Tova
@@Talasbuan yes work, as a wine seller. Wonderfull times. Thank you once again. Much health and freedom for the baby!
I enjoy watching your video God be with you always.
l am happy for your family. Bless you with healty baby🥰
I am glad to hear your love for animals, but it is evident how you treat all the animals in and outside.
Using a pole net, like the kind used for fishing, would make it much easier to catch chickens.
Seeing the Christmas market is interesting as they are not common in the states like they are in Europe. And the mythical creatures are very fascinating.
All the aerial shots are really beautiful.
Thank you so much Brandi!
Your videography is beautiful. Thank you.
That market is beautiful!!! Such an experience
Such happy and healthy life!
All that's missing is the smell of the market❣
Your winter market shoots looks so magical and fairy it is like out of harry potter movies, I really enjoy your videos.
Really enjoying videos. The English word you were looking for (“first stomach” in the chickens neck) is the crop. Thank you and best wishes for a healthy child.
Hi and congratulations on the coming birth, i just wanted to say, i am really enjoying your vlogs and your filming. Well done, from Australia
Thank you so much Sean, means a lot to us! :)
Happy New Year, hope you have a great new year
@@seanrafferty5737 the Same to you! :)
You are sharing good information about your life and area
An English term for making the flock smaller is “culling.”
Yes! thats the word! Thank you
Your chickens are definitely Scandinavian. Mine don't even set foot outside when it snows. I have to put straw out for them to walk on. :)
Haha! Yes! They are the most northern heritage breed found in Sweden. They don't like the new snow so much but they don't mind ice and packed snow. Only if it's below -25°C or so they stay mostly inside the whole day.
What kind of chickens do you have?
As always , we love the updates and wish you both a very merry Christmas. Jason & Theresa
Thank you so much Jason and Theresa! We wish you a happy Christmas!
Thanks guys and take care of that baby girl, she's going to be a handful !
Im sure she(he) will be ;D
God bless your family 🙏 always watching take care both of you
In English the first stomach of a chicken is the crop. Try chopping up some ginger root and adding to the cooking broth. Adds a nice layer of flavor. Peace.
Ah! Thank you for the word. Yes! Ginger would have been perfect, one of my favourite foods next to garlic and chili, thanks for the tip
/Mathias
Thank you for the videos; I really enjoy them. From north of Seattle, WA, USA.
Thank you Linda!
it is good, you have come to a point when work and chores are far less stressful for you! Easy for me to say!! From your first vlogs to now, feeders, sheds, various things have been built, you are more confident and comfortable in your work and what you do. That is wonderful! Do you have religious beliefs that give you comfort in the hard times?
Whether you two (three) are now in Finland or Sweden Dec 13 wishing you warmth & light on St Lucia day.
I like how you used branches as braces in the shed where you de-feathered the chickens
Beautiful shots as always, cheers!
Thank you!
Your winterfair is amazing! I can tell ours are inspired by yours, but God, everything good comes from above (the Kattegat) ;-)
I love the all your Vlog so bad. Peaceful.... Off Grid Life.
I haven't been to Jamtli since I was a little girl. It is so beautiful!
Wonderful market and museum.
Me encantan,se ve mucha paz!🙏
Can't wait to see Tova with the baby, y'all will make good parents.. we've got to get back to work on the house..
Thank you so much Colten! Yes, starting with the house again, its the plan ;)
I am glad to hear that both of your pregnancy is doing well.and do not force yourself to do work just for us.it will happen when it happens.
This video always make me deep impress. Happy new year
Wonderful market!
Thank you for showing us the level of the sun. That always intrigued me when I was in Sweden. The Christmas market was spectacular too see! ❤️ You both look so happy together with the baby on the way. God Jul och Gott Nytt År!!! 😊
Thank you so much Sandy
We make bone broth from moose... great stuff! So glad that you are healthy and that all is progressing well... Safe travels.
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, we have made some moos broth as well, and sheep, cow, pig, and rabbit too :)
Merry Christmas Tova, Mathias, family and friends!
Thank you and the same too you Rebecca!
LOVE YOUR WAY OF LIFE, HOW LUCKY :)
Nice music in this episode. And that the music doesnt take over..I apprechiate the stillness in your life... Och harmonin som ni utstrålar.
Must be incredible chicken broth. I truly loved seeing the market and exhibition. I would love going to that. Perhaps one day! ❤️
Its really something, cozy and atmospheric :D
I just learned about egg whites to clear chicken broth. I must try it next time.
We love bone broth too love your blogs so calming thank you
Since you have gotten your drone you have captured some beautiful pictures
Your scenery is spectacular.
I really enjoy the quality of your videos!
Thank you! We're glad to hear that :)
Catching chickens sure is hard!
Great video! First time watcher, greetings from across the border!
Haha yes! :) Takes some tries to catch them. Thank you! I am curious to know how you found our videos?
You seem to have interesting videos, need to take a look :)

I’m new and still glad I found your channel❣️🙋🏻♀️
I admire the amount of work you two do just for bone broth and chicken meat..how do you keep the fire going all night in the oven outside when you have to sleep? Very nice holiday market you showed us, similar to one near me .glad everything is going well with the pregnancy also , stay healthy and I look forward to more great videos! Cheers from Philadelphia
Thank you so much Joe! We just let the fire die out in the night and then start over in the morning, its ok to pause and continue :) Im glad you have a market that is similar, many have said here in the comments that they dont have anything like it at all! Wish you a wonderful week! /Tova
Hello to you, from the South Australian desert. Love your videos, as your climate is so different to ours ! :)
In my town most people live underground, because of our extreme heat.
Oh my, that's a totally different climate indeed, how very interesting! You have the heat year around? Thank you so much!
Happy new year lovely couple
aah yes, jamtli ! Pia used to work there in the summers when she was a teenager, as an actor, we were just talking about that haha. She lived there all summer... I had never seen it at christmas though, maybe a thought for next year. Merry (early) Christmas guys . Greetz from Smaland.
Dream job if you can't work at home, have always wanted to work there as an actor but its too far away :/ I hope you can visit the market next year, its cozy! Happy Christmas to you all! /Tova
