      @@briansmobile1 I hope you will see this. Im trying to choose a quality cab light set up for my 2000 Dodge ram that didnt have them originally the parts am feel pretty cheap and I've seen some bad reviews about Recon, I noticed that Atomic doesnt have lights for our generation of pickup so my guestion is are those later model lights you are installing? I found some Mopar oem kits on Amazon that are model year 2010-18 im sure i could figure out the splice id just like to know if they fit snuggly enough to the hood to prevent leakage being they arent meant for our year of trucks. Thank you for your time!

    Nice video man, I enjoyed it. Can any person put those lights on their truck? You spoke elsewhere in the comments about helping other people on the road. I do the same thing, (Got about 3-4 cars unstuck after they slid off the road this winter.) And having the extra lights would be nice. As long as they arent red or blue you should be ok?

    • @briansmobile1
      @briansmobile1  10 років тому

      Yes- like you said the color and the mode of use is key. Use them to pass on the freeway you're Furschitzled. Use them to create a safer condition and in the right context and you're good!

    Great video, you make it really clear and simple with your explanations. That gel your using to seal the holes would appear to be a bluing agent like you would use in gun finishing. Just oxidizes the metal to protect it.

    I did basically the same thing but added two thin rectangular lights in the top back panel for bed and strobes two in the rear bumper for backup a light bar cross the front upper windshield and a hand control spot lights each door plus 4 pods on the front bumper colors are red yellow and white
    Truck has tough country bumpers front and rear nerfed bars down the sides and wrapped in predator camo wrap rides on P305-70-R16 all terrain engine swap jegs crate 408 CID dodge OH it set up to pull a 24 foot gooseneck trailer transfer flow had a 46 gallon gas tank swap so that's an additional 20 gallons carried

    Nice job, and I believe most people can do this with a touch of warning not to fold their liner and stay away from Alex.
    The wiring (unit used, and what wire where so it does this and that kinda thing) methods of stripping and heat shrink should make it out okay.
    Another concern was the voltage, did you relay or wire hot straight from the battery or fuse box.
    I guess I'm trying to dumb things down, or maybe everybody gets it and I'm just too critical.
    My feet hurt.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this project on my last f150 can't wait to get them over to my current f150! I put 4 halo. floods on my Baha bar..spst switch to 2 - 25A fused relays to 2 - 65W floods and 2 - 55W floods..my bar being grounded with 4 self tapping screws...one screw was sizzling while two 65W and only one 55W floodlight were lit! My question is why is the screw sizzling? Thanks for all the hard work on here! I've learned a ton!!

      It may be that the ground current is insufficient. If you have too much resistance on any part of the circuit you will get heat. To help the amp flow- use a heavier gauge wire, or a larger bolt to ground or ground terminal (at battery) to chassis.

    On your ground wire,don't you think it would have been a lot easier to use the blue wire connectors where they have one wire in a straight line and the light ground on the side of the same clip?You can use the same clips for power too.I've done this install almost a dozen times and worked like a champ.These are the clips you use to press the metal clip inside the plastic,you don't get lose wire or bad grounds.You could have saved an hour or more.and only for a couple dollars.

    If a vehicle is over 80 inches wide it must have three identifaction lights at the highest point applicable and markers at the widest point applicable. A trailer is a vehicle. So a 2500 does not need them because it is less than 80 inches but a trailer over 80 inches must have them. A dually is over 80 inches and must have them. thats why they are grouped three in the middle one on each side...just fyi

    Love your videos it helps me so much with my 99 Dakota. Can you make a video explaining more about your side markers and how they are wired.

    • @briansmobile1
      @briansmobile1  10 років тому

      Yes! They're LED- even the front factory placed turn signal bulbs are. This allows you to have more lights without over loading the circuit AND so you can turn the noisy engine off and still have traffic communication/signaling. (I still have to use a custom LED flasher or my truck BCM thinks a bulb is out and signals too fast) -So you wire them the same way as the harness built in this video. You extend the front turn signal + wire down the frame to the back tire in distance (inside frame tube along or inside factory harness jacket for protection and stabilize from chafing etc.) That causes them to work with turn signals/hazards, but not brake lights. The ground is built into the housing of the LED marker lights and is acquired locally.

I thought I could connect to the light switch control but to my surprise I can completely disconnect the wire hookup and start the pickup and head lights come on. While the wire connection is disconnected. Must be a computer module set up. Any ideas? Super confused.

      Thanks! It is an emergency vehicle. I regularly assist others who are broken down or in an accident etc. The lights are used road-side. I wouldn't spend the time or money on them if they weren't to be used for something. You'll notice that there's no red or blue lights in the front. Just amber and clear. Same with the rear, but my hazard/brake lights are red.(of course) That's the key. That and if you use them responsibly you're within the parameters of the law. I have assisted every police agency in the area and only got grief about lights from one particular officer... a young university officer. Sheriff's, City, Highway Patrol, and DNR are appreciative of the help and fully understand the need to be seen while assisting others on the highway or roadside as they all have their own "close call" stories to tell. The young university officer made some idle threat about potential misuse to pass the time and justify contact. Of course I treated him with respect and nothing was issued or recorded of the incident. He didn't even identify me or run plates etc. I think he was both curious and bored. No laws were violated. No worries.

    I always wondered how a christmas tree drives?

      lol Typically this tree is not driven while lit, unless it's dragging something large back onto the road or off the road.

    I am pretty sure it was asked. Where did you get the roof lights. I want them for my truck. They would be nice for my truck, to add to the rest of my emergency lights.
