  • One of the great features of the Korg Modwave and Korg Wavestate is the ability to import your own custom samples into the synths. This allows you to use custom WAV files in your performances.
This guide will walk you through the process of importing and transferring multisamples into the Modwave and Wavestate, including Modwave Native and Wavestate Native. Understanding this process is essential, especially as I have some interesting custom sample sets coming soon for the Modwave and Wavestate.
In a few weeks, I will be releasing a custom sound pack for the Modwave and Wavestate based on the classic 1980s Fairlight. This means you will be able to play the iconic 1980s sounds used by artists like Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and many others.
This guide provides instructions for importing multisamples. To get you started, I've included a free Fairlight sound (the famous "arrhh" sound) in the ZIP file. It contains the raw sample file, Korg multisample files, and files for the native versions. Simply download the file, unzip it, and use the Korg Sample Editor to transfer the sounds to the Modwave and Wavestate.
This process is compatible with the Modwave (Modwave Native, Modwave Rack, Modwave, and Modwave mkII) and Wavestate (Wavestate Native, Wavestate Rack, Wavestate, Wavestate mkII, and Wavestate SE).
Download the files, follow the guide, and stay tuned for a full set of Fairlight patches soon. I also have some other sample sets in the works!

Didn’t I just ask for some explanation on using your own samples with Modwave…? 🤔 And here we go! Ian, you are marvelous. Cannot express how much I do appreciate your work, assistance, and great input for us „Modwavers“.

    Thanks Ian, appreciate your work.
I really wish Korg would provide a utility to extract the user bank from both Modwave and Wavestate. With my Modwave I've avoided loading user samples into a bank because of the lack of space, and I don't want to touch my Wavestate without extracting the full user bank, as I'm pretty sure I will lose some presets, due to upgrading my PC; I have copious backups but I can't be confident that there will be some stray samples that have disappeared.
    First world problems

A download feature would be great. I keep my banks in OneDrive so I don't lose them.

After you create a plugin sample bank and you add it to the Native can you move or delete the file or does the Native plugin have to access it each time you use it?

It stays in its memory until you transfer a new bank
