The scary stuff was to drive them out of the house because they were in danger there. The daughter/bed stab was a metaphor for her putting her daughter in danger by staying there.

House and House 2 are classics, but House IV has a special place in my heart. My sister and I have been singing that 'pizza man' song since we were little kids.

Here's my theory to link all those movies together. They are all parallel timeline. All the undead villains at some point in their lives got their hands on the crystal skulls from their timeline. Jinkies used his skulls to travel in time, that's how he evaded police for so long. Roger Cobb in here is the Roger that never went to 'Nam. the Roger who never lost his father.

I like this film for some strange reason, and it's not as if I disagree with any of your gripes. I suppose I appreciate that it came closest to the tone of the first movie, and I'm a sucker for William Katt. Plus...yeah, I kinda love the Pizza Man song.

I know this isn't really related to the House movie, but if you have the energy to power a time machine to send your toxic waste back in time, it'd probably just be easier to shoot it into orbit and let it burn up on re-entry.
Funny he should mention buying that wheelchair at a yard sale because "Friday the 13th: The Series" actually had a wheelchair like that the character gets at a yard sale (in directly through Curious Goods). Hummmm.....
Oh my god! I saw that movie many years ago, at least partially, and the only thing I could remember was that really disgusting phlegm scene. Thinking about it made me nauseous even years after seeing it. And now I know the movie's name, so I can actively avoid it from now on. What's weird though is that I already had the feeling that this was the film with that scene only a few minutes in.

Well yeah, because even though the first movie kind of hints that he and his wife got back together maybe they didn't and she got custody of the son. He married a new woman with a daughter of her own.
I don't know about the stuff with the step brother and his father owning the house since that doesn't seem to fit. Maybe make it HER father's house and change the step brother to someone else entirely.
To say the least.
You think Hollywood can't get any more insulting, display any greater contempt for its audience, and then something like this comes along that says, "Sure we can!" Part of the reason the movie is so disjointed may be that four people worked on the story, one of whom was Jim Wynorski, who has done far better work (Chopping Mall, Deathstalker 2), but has also directed erotic parodies (The Bare Wench Project, The Witches of Breastwick). Also, House IV was shot in 1990 but wasn't released until 1992, showing how little faith anyone involved had in it.
House 4 budget 1.6 million apprently.
Maybe she thought she could fix up the place and sell it for more than the guy offered. A lot of scenes of her going around and inspecting things and trying to maybe fix stuff.
There is something terribly wrong here. I will never forgive this film. It is a entertainment crime to have a horror movie where the only two horrorific scenes are a singing discount Pizza-the-Hutt and a phlem-infested discount Lynchian baddie who force-feeds bile to a low-cost, less adequate Billie Jean love interest and part time Full Moon henchman.

I too am a fan of Star Waps.
I was born in 1982. The original House had a scene that scared me so much as a child we had to shut it off. So believe me when I say that I am a lifelong House fan. I can confirm that this film was an insulting travesty even as a dumb child who liked everything. I've watched Howling VII more than this.

Wait, Captain Planet stole a plot line from Time Trax? I think it was the first or second Time Trax where the recurring villain was going to get rich by sending nuclear waste into the future (which is really a better idea than sending it into the past, since it is still around if you do that) I know, way off point, just shocked at two separate shows thinking "pollution via time travel" makes for a compelling plot.
Just set back and throw on a night of house , the first a fun campy classic, the second story another fun just jump in and run then for some intriguing fun watch The Frighteners. Now shut your brain down and watch The horror show House 3 enjoy the straight up horror switch a roo. Now put on house 4 and just set back and have fun Kane hodder is a pizza I mean you can’t go wrong with Kane hodder as a pizza.
