3:30 BEHOLD! The one and ONLY moment of "Intentional" humor in the ENTIRE Megaman Genre! Seriously over 100 games... and this hat gag is literally it. Its at moments like this (and keep in mind I was a huge megaman fan as a kid) that I have to ask myself... why did this become a hit again?
I dunno; the surprise of the fake Wily in MM3 is intentionally funny, as are some of the enemy designs. I'm pretty sure the presence or absence of humor was never a driving factor in the series' popularity, though.
the battle network games are full of funny moments
@@bewill5121 Battle network doesn't count. Not really a megaman game. more like fan fiction. like the tronbon games... or Or that frightening megaman cartoon few a couple years ago.
@@Phoenixesper1 fan fiction? it was literally developed in house by capcom
I can't believe it's been seven years since this video came out. I remember watching it on my mother's computer.
I also can't believe I'm speaking about nostalgia for a youtube video.
It's nearly been a full decade since this playthrough started... damn. How the years go by. Maybe in 21XX we'll get the MM8 playthrough...
I would kill for that "EYEBROWS!!" voice snippet.
I might find a way to make it available for download once this is all over. I've had requests for a few voice clips over the years.
Best part of this video?
♫EYEBROWS!♪
That voice edit was GOLD!
This is still one of my very favorite Megaman games. And the fact it was made in THREE MONTHS just like Megaman 2 is just incredible.
I really wonder what the game could've been like with a longer development time.
7:07
Oh yeah, let's not forget that it's pronounced Bass like "ambassador" in Mega Man 8.
Nathaniel, When you tackle Megaman 8... would you be so kind to replace the dialogue with your voices? It would be so epic! (and it would sound a LOT better XD; )
I've got something in mind for MM8, but I'll certainly consider it, thanks. :)
***** I have this reaaaally big feeling that Z-Sabre's going to do the voice of Mega Man.
The 64th Shadow And Roll as well. LOL
sazdx I dunno how that'd work, since you'd be talking over the characters, but that might be pleasant.
Not the talking over them, the better suited voices.
04:59 Best... Line... EVER!
XX means 20 in Roman numerals, so that means 20XX is 2020, so mega man was warning us
It only feels like yesterday I was hyped out of my mind for your MM7 play through... that was 7 years ago. How the time flies!
Let's go to First Man burst!
And so we did!
The same thing as going all destructy~pow.
Master of being first in the comments
First Man
After 2 years, Nathaniel has returned with guests, his hilarious commentary, vast knowledge of the Megaman games, maximum showoffery, and finally, Pizza Time! :D
Love this part of the intro. Also loved how Mega Man posed as if he was a Robot Master. A Robot Master of peacekeeping!
Very happy to see a new video from you. I find that, more than other commentators on the series, you really show an appreciation that stems from a great understanding of game design, and I always enjoy the technical aspects of your commentary, as well as the banter.
I would love that "EYEBROWS!!!" Voice snippet as a text alert.
Oh man. Wouldn't that be a fun surprise for other people around you when it goes off.
Dude your actually really funny. And you've got some great commentary too. This is my first video of yours I've seen but I'm definitely subscribing.
you should cuase LOLOLOLOOLLOLOOLOOlOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLOOOOLOLOLOLOLOOLOL. OK im done
Thank you! I know my upload schedule (if you can even call it a schedule) has ground to a halt, but I have every intention of returning with MM8 eventually.
GeminiLaser Oh! Your still active
I think the graphics are just fine, and the game in general, but due to the difference in animation, it seems like it "responds" slower than the NES games, which is one of the reasons that I liked them so much to begin with.
I don't find it to be a bad game, I just like the others more, because they "feel" better.
I get that.
7:02 Bass? DUDE ITS BASS!!!
Don't stop being you, don't get discouraged from this stuff ever. You are incredible. These videos always make me smile.
This.
Is.
AWESOME!!!
When this run is completely uploaded, I can't wait to watch it over and over again like the other runs. Keep up the showoffery and great commentary. That goes to the whole crew!
if you don't mind me asking, at what frequency are these expected to be uploaded?
The patience was worth it. Glad you're back, Gemini. Missed your awesome show-offery :D
YES! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT!
Finally a chance to watch GeminiLaser tackle MM7, one of my favorites of the Classic series. Thank you!!
Been looking forward to this for a long time! Glad to see the next chapter in the showoff series is in progress! The eyebrows bit will have me laughing every single time I see it, I just know it!
Nice to finally see you tackling this game at long last! I love the voice acting you added in.
4:13 -- yeah about that... I'm getting my CDL soon and I'll be humming this from when I first start out to my first stop and route for the day lol
I love the style of this game. My favourite of classic saga.
Woo! Finally! I've been looking forward to this, I'm so happy! And now I've watched it! And now I have to wait some more! Now I'm sad again...
I've been fighting a throat infection for two weeks, but once you post part two, my energy will be OVER 9000!
Great video, dude. I mean, all your videos have a charm to them, but this one is definitely up there.
I also consider MM7 to be criminally underrated in the series. SO many neat innovations. Even if the English translation is kinda... well, wrong in several places.
It took me 12 minutes into the episode to get the pun of the title.
Welcome back, GeminiLaser! :D
Wow, so glad to see this released! Its been a while since the last mega man vid, but worth it. Great job on those voices, I have to say it was a treat to hear Mega Man's voice as if it came from the cartoon show. Glad to see so many other positive responses too =)
4:46 To be fair, you can't blame Rush alone. Dr. Light is the one pointing forward instead of to the building.
hey Gemini, do you still have that recording time limit??
Do you use a emulator or do you play on real hardware and if you play on a emulator how do you record it ?
For ease of recording, this was ZSNES recorded with CamStudio (or maybe oCam; I can't remember whether I'd switched over by this point).
Thanks man :)
I lost it at "I have a rotating letter in my pocket. It tickles."
That actually still makes me chuckle, too.
Eyebrows? You should hear our "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" rendition!
Hey Gemini, any plans on watching or attending AGDQ for the Megaman Block?
So, a long story short. I discovered this rom hack called Mega Man 7 Refit. Where the hacker/modder basically brought the NES engine sorta over to 7. Slightly quicker charge time with the mega buster, slighty longer invulnerability frames. The "shining" effect was also removed when you charge the buster. Essentially it's like the mega man 5 engine brought into snes. It's nice I liked it.
Huh. I'm not into playing ROM hacks, but that sounds like it's worth a look.
I think Mega Man 7 is one of the more underrated games in the series. It has a colorful art style reminiscent of earlier Mega Man games and a bold soundtrack. Now, as a whole, I felt the X series was better represented on the SNES. But while the franchise continued to mature and take on more serious themes, MM7 felt like a return to youthful, whimsical fun. I'm happy to see that it receives a fair share of accolades.
yeaaah! GeminiLaser finaly did Mega Man 7 let's play! Can't wait for part 2, 3, 4... till the end :) And then MM9 and 10
I swear...Each video you are getting even more hilarious.
Thank you!
And the eternal laughter begins...
Literally had cake in my mouth the moment you mentioned cake. I am a happy camper.
Whoa. I can't even remember the last time one of these came out. Has Heat Man's stage frozen over?
7:32 also from the mega man x games, you have bosses that have no names on the stage select screen
Keen observation!
Now the wait for part 2 begins. Anyways glad you finally posted this. It took time but you did good. Good job.
Best comeback ever, in the history of Mega man playthroughs.
So, while watching this video, I came to an observation. You stated that only in Mega Man 3 was there a tangible association with you getting the new weapon as you complete the stage? What about Mega Man 1 where you actually have to pick up the chip they drop to gain their power?
Absolutely awesome commentary/voice-acting for the intro stage. Can't wait for the rest! Having never played MM7, I only have others' opinions to go on. I'm excited to see your countering opinion to the fact that 7 allegedly "sucks big dinosaur balls". (Thanks, Brentalfloss.)
I finally got around to watching this, and I must say it's really, REALLY good. Excellent job Nate and the same goes to your friends and wife. Say "Hi" to them all and that they rocked if you get the chance.
I can't believe you didn't mention that the spikes in the second half Burst man's stage look like a bunch of scrapped crash-man-arm prototypes.
I agree with what you said a lot about the graphics. The zoomed in look doesn't hinder the gameplay a whole lot in this game, only really with the disappearing blocks and who likes those anyway? The only real "style" problem I had was that I am not keen on the sound effect of the uncharged buster, but that's a personal preference.
Yay Gemini is back. I've been waiting for this and so far am not disappointed!
So wait, where is that promised shoutout to me? o.o
Anyway, glad to see you finally got this out. Looking forward to the rest!
MegaMan 6 - Oct 1993 in Japan. March 1994 in America.
Mega Man X - December 17, 1993
Mega Man X2 - December 16, 1994
Mega Man 7 - September 1995
MM6 and MMX were supposed to be released at the same time on the SNES however Capcom changed their minds with MM6 and kept it to the NES.
I see. And to answer your other question, we were talking about the joint playthrough on Mega Man 7, and you said you would mention something about me in a video of your run.
You're back! Can't wait to see the rest of your show-offery through MM7. Also, EYEBROWS!
If I had to guess, it was that they tried too hard and it was getting in the way of the commentary (as in, it almost felt like it was overlapping yours).
Wow! I have to say it was well worth the wait, my friend! Can't wait for more.
After 2 years!!!! I mean, we had TWO april fools around this game, its nice to see you back :D
Nathaniel! I'm so glad that you're back! I've missed you man!
"The first time since Mega Man 3" as in, you didn't get any tangible evidence of Mega Man getting the weapon for Mega Man 4-6.
I laughed my head off when you said yell screaming die squares
In the beginning, Rush is actually staring where Light is pointing. He's pointing towards the wall, not the prison!
Maybe there's a turkey leg hidden in the wall or something.
Actually Yoku Blocks is the official name of the disappearing blocks in most official megaman games, so its not certain if hes seen that game or not.
my big question is...WHY WOULD YOU NEED BEAKERS THAT ARE LIKE 8 TIMES THE SIZE OF A HUMAN
and how do you measure with them. See the lines?
Y'know, you just sort of eye it up. And then drop people into the beaker, because that's obviously what it's fore.
quick..man, do u plan to do MegamanX and or the GBA MegaMan games?
How did Dr. Wily fit Robot Masters such as Cloud Man in capsules like that?
I know, right!?
Is it just me or does the that was prison holding Wily look like his head, minus the wacky hair.
Probably just me.
Finally, someone that likes this game. This is my favourite megaman of classic serie.
YES FINNALY Nathaniel I have been waiting for this for so long
Holy Shit, GeminiLaser, finally, I almost didn't believe my eyes when I saw my subscriptions, I thought maybe it was a recommendation, :P.
Enjoying the dr lights voice over there. remindes me of the 90's version of him.
There better be a "Dude, it's base!" in your Mega Man 8 playthrough.
You can count on it. :)
Well worth waiting for, good sir!
"Now I have a rotating letter in my pocket. It tickles." The matter-of-fact way you said that made me burst out laughing...appropriate for Burst Man's stage.
gemini, do you have a 3ds or a wii u? i want your friend code!
I think the Eddie plant-pot may actually be a pot of that Brain Break in Knight Man's stage from MM6.
~3:40 maybe he should have kept that hat on...and made all of his armor out of the same material
yes it looks stupid but how many weapons can actually destroy a met when their heads are down (not counting the ones that, say, make them fly offscreen or get them sucked into a black hole)?
lol at 13:49 GeminiLaser knows his audience. *Raises hand* Guilty as charged.
Are u planning to eventually do mega man 8, 9 and 10. If you ever run out of those games try mega man and bass or rockman and forte in japan.
We've waited for SO long, and it's FINALLY here! I can't believe you've actually started Mega Man 7! I'm pretty sure, when Mega Man 6 ended, I was still a squeaker! That was a LONG but worth it wait. Also, glad to see Dash making some auditory appearances!
There is a game that 8-bits MM7.There is one that 8-bits MM8 too.
Yep, I've played them both. MM7 was fine, but missing a lot of the little touches that make me like the game as much as I do; MM8 was stupidly hard and not at all fun to play.
Well, Nathaniel Hoover, I just may end up resenting you for making a video series better than GeminiLaser's Mega Man 6 special.
And I have so many more where that one came from.
*evil laughter with Wily-esque eyebrows*
@4:34 Geminilaser almost sounded like Cam Clarke (aka Liquid Snake)
Maybe! I haven't played enough Metal Gear Solid for the voices to stick in my head.
I was soooooooooooo excited seeing this has been uploaded!!!
Well finally, we have been waiting patiently this
The comment on the eyebrows was more for some of the commenters that seemed not to notice the eyebrows in Megaman 6. I knew you knew about the eyebrows, you commented on them during the megathon.
Boss music when Mega Man puts on his helmet?
I knew it, Mega Man is an evil robot master!
He's fooled us all!
One of my major issues with 7 was that it felt slower than 1-6; not entirely sure why. Maybe due to the graphics?
On a tangent, you're commentary seems to be slower than your 1-6 play though.
Imagine...
Doctor Light or Doctor Wily as the new Dr. Who's.
Mind. Blown.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! Long time coming, Nathaniel.
Will you be working on the GameBoy Titles as well? Love to see you show off those. :P Especially MMV.
That's the plan! Once MM8 is finished (one of these years), I'm moving on to the GB games.
@@TheRealBroMike It's only been 7 months since my last upload here! I have every intention of completing my playthrough of MM8-I keep chipping away at it every now and again. But I've had SEVERAL side projects going the last few years, and I've turned my attention to making Mega Man games rather than recording them. Once I'm officially done updating OH JOES! (A Proto Man Adventure) and finished with my judge commitment for Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 3, this channel will once again be my primary focus.
Yay! finally the wait was well worth it...is there going to be more quest appearances? Also will it be pizza time?
do you have a 3ds or wii u or not?
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes YES! Thank you! Thank you so much! ZSaber and DashJump are there, and even Yoga Inferno! :D
Dr. Willy is the demented cousin of Sir Eyebrows III.
Yay, I'm not the only one who likes this game's music and intro and everything
Mega Man 7 is actually one of the games I like the most out of the classic series. I like the graphics, the music is great, the special weapons are fun to mess around with and overall it shows that a lot of effort was put into it. I'm sad that this game is considered one of the worst out of the classic series by most of the Mega Man fandom and I really think it's a very underrated game. Hell, it's probably one of my favorite platformers on the SNES when i think about it.
"Eye brawls!" Dude I just couldn't hold my laugh at that point. I played it again just to laugh even more! X'D I'll be honored to play online some time with you, by the way. Good job with these videos!
When are you coming out with new vids?
