Completely agree with your ratings! I grew up on this game too and have a very deep love for it! Like to replay it every few years just because.
Also it was really awesome to see the surprise at the end that you created so long ago!!!

Understandable! I have yet to properly try out the remake (I will be streaming it soon!), but from everything I know about it, the gameplay, the graphics, the sound, the characters, and the story progression, I can consider the remake to be better than the original. I already considered the original to be near-perfect, so that is a high bar to clear lol
Definitely give it a try yourself when you can!
