  • With the release of the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake, I was curious to see how well every party member in the series stacks up to each other. This list goes over every individual partner in the series (yes, including the Pixls), so I hope you enjoy!

I'm not sure what you're talking about with Lady Bow. Not only would she kill you if she found out, she also essentially has Rally Wink that gets rid of enemy charges. That's right; if Mario uses his turn before Bow's, he GETS HIS TURN BACK for the next turn.
That's absolutely MASSIVE in a game like 64. She has usefulness all throughout the game until maybe around chapter 7 if you keep in mind the fact that yeah you have rally wink for 2FP, and a 6 HP basic attack.
Also, let me explain why Yoshi's attack is actually good. Let's say that we have an Ultra Ranked Yoshi and he uses Ground Pound on an enemy without defense. That's 1+1+1+1+1+1= 6 damage.
Okay, now let's give him Mega Rush P, early and easily obtained and Trial Stew him. Let's see that damage now. It reduces for 1 for each hit so that would be 6+5+4+3+2+1=21 damage. Multihits are BUSTED with extra attacks. At this point, each extra attack increase (like Power Lift for example) adds 6 damage. Since the Switch remake you can consistently get +3s, that's 21+18= 39 damage with this setup. And this isn't even his screen nuke attack, stampede, that uses the same logic.
Additionally, let's look at Mini Egg with this setup. Mini Egg does 2 damage at base, and DOESN'T reduce in damage. That leads to 6+6+6+6=24 damage from using Mini Egg without power lift, and 9+9+9+9=36 with.
For enemies with defense, the amount of damage a move is reduced by is the amount of defense * the number of hits, meaning that on, say, a 4 DEF enemy, you lose about 24 damage on these multihits. But Yoshi has Gulp so...yeah.

When researching this video, I heard mixed things about Bow's Outta Sight move. It wasn't clear whether Mario moved again or not if Bow moved before he did, but my testing showed that he did, so I ultimately decided to not include this part. Dodging charged attacks is very good in the original 64 game, but Bow's otherwise weak attacks and sour personality didn't end up getting her very far.
As for Yoshi, I was not considering badges and items when making this video, purely just the characters as they are. Otherwise, any TTYD partner could be very overpowered when given the right set of circumstances. And that's honestly what makes TTYD so good lol

I feel goombella's placement in this list is very low, but overall very nice job! I also have sentimental attachment to Huey, but I get what you mean haha.

Boomer is S in combat, he can easily clear the first pit and most of the second pit with just him, he can defeat every enemy most pixls can but with more options on how to do so, all the while stunning boomboxers and defeating enemies others can’t, plus Thoreau gives him more range while helping him reach enemies that are dangerous to get close to, I would died in the pit if I used any other attacking pixls over boomer, plus you can detonate him even while ducking as peach giving you way more survivability against ranged or dangerous enemies

Boomer can definitely be useful in the right circumstances. Thoreau's added range can be great, but that's such a quick setup that requires an additional partner and I was really just looking at Boomer himself. Maybe I ranked Boomer a little too low, but I was always going with Bowser or other direct combat abilities unless Boomer was necessary.

@@TrippyGamer95Bowser to me is good, but I feel like using mainly him is an unreliable crutch since his huge hit box, slow movement, and how much delay he has while breathing fire just means you get hit way more over if you use peach and boomer, who actually work amazingly together

    • @TrippyGamer95

@@anthonyoliver418 Yeah, I note Bowser's drawbacks in the video. His main selling points really are just his additional attack power (which just increases further with Thudley), and him just actively switching sides to help Mario at all. In my own playthroughs, the Bowser/Thudley duo were usually my active characters, though yes, they can take some time to work with. And from other playthroughs I've seen, this duo is pretty common.
To be clear, I am not denying Boomer's usefulness. But when compared to Bombette or Bobbery, he had trouble placing any higher. I'm glad the Peach/Boomer duo is working for you, though!

As someone who played Paper Mario 64 extensively, you’re absolutely wrong about Lady Bow. I remember I did a playthrough of the game a few years ago and she can become really OP with the Fan Smack ability, to the point she can turn most enemies and even some bosses like The Master into a joke. She’s a great addition to the party and worthy of A tier, if not at least a B.

    • @TrippyGamer95

@@NoxWyatt Is there a way to improve Bow's Fan Smack? I was not considering items or badges, just the partners as they were.
Regardless, Bow had some major points going against her. Mainly being an antagonistic personality, her field move being barely used outside of her chapter, and actively keeping Mario from collecting the Star Spirit upon meeting her. She did not get very far, but maybe I ranked her a little too low.

How is Lady Bow lower on the list than Miss Mowz.

    • @TrippyGamer95
      @TrippyGamer95  18 днів тому

Because Ms. Mowz doesn't act against Mario like Bow does and her basic attack can actually pierce defenses (which I forgot to mention). Treasure pointing is vague, but more useful than Outta Sight, and Kiss Thief can net you some pretty interesting items if done at the right times. Ms. Mowz still has some major drawbacks, but not as much as I found in Bow.

This is the worst tier list I've ever seen. Take off your nostalgia goggles, this is pathetic
