Too many questions for a #1 pick that was traded up for. If he landed to a team, that's different....but to trade up to 1, the QB needs to be generational . He's not in my opinion
As a Panther’s fan I am on team Winks/Stroud. I just felt it when we traded for 1 right after the combine in which Young wasn’t participating. Stroud throws one of the cleanest balls I’ve ever seen. I get both sides of the argument, but Winks was really pulling out the specifics about Young that reflect a potential negative translation into the NFL. Even McCown said that you can teach Stroud to improve upon his game; implying on the other hand you can not teach someone to get taller. Young is high risk high reward. I can just see him getting hurt early on and we can’t afford a 1st overall on a gamble.
@jouzts I like that assessment. Unfortunately Scott Fitterer was asked on WFNZ radio, which assessment is most important to you Scott, and he said how a player interviews. 5 minutes prior to that question, he said all the QBs did well but Bryce really stood out. Scott Fitterer has talked himself into the "biggest" outlier ever taken at the #1 overall pick. More importantly, he's gonna face the QBs in Stroud and Richardson and soon regret his decision, in my opinion
One thing that you guys called out here and Reich saw in Bryce's first practice is consistently nailing the throws other QBs overthrow. We can see a guy throw a bomb and get impressed by the receiver making a great play on the ball, but in the big leagues, being able to consistently nail all types of throws with confidence and poise under pressure is what separates the greats from the goods. I'm so excited that the Panthers went all in to draft Bryce. #KeepPounding
Great breakdown! Watched a UA-cam video of Young’s every completion at Alabama. The guy is a playmaker. I think he’s going to be a great NFL QB. Watching the video also got me excited for my Jamo and Metchie shares. Really hoping Young ends up in Houston but that is looking unlikely at the moment.
For real. It happens every year. Some dude puts up impressive measurable at the combine and suddenly his draft stock is way overinflated. All of the sudden this person can be molded by NFL coaches into some superhero. Never mind his demonstrated mediocre accuracy and mediocre processing.
I consider it a far greater risk that no elite QBs have ever come out of the draft with as low of an S2 score as CJ’s than it is with Bryce’s size. Bryce’s score in the 98th percentile is historic (Joe B scored 97th) and while scoring high isn’t always an indicator of success, scoring poorly has shown a 0% success rate in the NFL.
@@B3GINNER the point of a leak is nobody wanted that information out there. They don’t want to hurt a player’s draft stock so of course they’re going to deny it.
@@blakty2 because there is a basis, it is real leaked information. Daniel Jeremiah accidentally said it on his podcast. Out of 27 QBs tested in 2021 (including Drew Brees and Kirk Cousins) 13 of the QBs with career passer ratings 90 and above all had S2 scores in 91st and above. The 14 others who had career passer ratings below 90 scored at or less than the 90th percentile.
And it’s not just about the test scores, Stroud’s inability to make quick decisions outside of the structure of the offense, sticking too long on his first option, and taking too long to get through progressions shows up on film. Everyone touts the Georgia game like it trumps two years worth of film on him.
I saw Doug Flutie play in person with the New England Patriots in 1989 at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. He was a playmaker who was fearless, confident and just a great guy.
Bryce Young is the most NFL-ready QB in this class. OSU QB's dont have a great track record in the NFL. Anthony Richardson is a monstrous athlete. But more so that than even an average QB. Not a Panthers fan
I like this series, but the guy in the hat likes stats way too much. Eye test is way more important than stats and every single one of his points has some kind of stat tied to it, while the main guy doesn’t really mention stats much and trusts what he sees on the field. Stop relying on stats so much.
BOB was an awful coordinator for Alabama. He kept trying to force long developing passing plays where WRs were often in the same space as Josh McCown mentioned in y'all's breakdown of him, along with QB school. He is at least comparable if not more athletic than Russell Wilson who is half an inch taller. I'd have him as the best in the draft slightly ahead of Stroud. Tua is 3 inches taller and much heavier and was/is 10x more of an injury concern than Bryce. I think with the right development he can be a Pro-bowl QB. Richardson ahead of Bryce is a joke. Josh Allen is the only QB to turn around such an awful accuracy, it didn't happen until Diggs came in 2020, and even then he has thrown the most INTS the past 3 years. He still throws some game-losing INTs despite how many TDs and wins.
Everybody so mad at the Panthers getting Bryce Young because the Panthers are on their way to once again become contenders instead of being irrelevant. It’s funny to me how DUM they all are.
4:20, 9:03 just two of many examples that he wasn’t throwing a wr away from help there just he has a weaker arm and if he ain’t able to load up on them deep balls the come out short and inaccurate I love his character I do but this ain’t about character it’s a business draft CJ and we want be be sorry to me the arm talent of Stroud wins out but it’s looking like we going to draft Young so I hope he holds up and maybe if they can get him to bulk up he have some more fire power in that right arm
that film is all from the worst game of his carreer where he was pressured 40% of the time and the receivers played like shit.. it‘s not about character, it’s about awareness, iq, reading defenses, knowing where the windows gonna be.. drew brees torched our defense with his 40 year old noodle arm regularly.. strouds arm talent is better just as long as he doesn’t have to throw out of rhythm because he was trash under pressure
For Bryce young to be an elite qb he needs to be a savant, his football iq has to be so much higher than everyone’s or he’s not going to be great. He’s small and doesn’t have elite athleticism or arm strength. Kyler Murray is freak athlete with a cannon and Russell Wilson is more athletic and has a much stronger arm.
his football iq really is elite.. seems like the best ever coming out of college.. and arm strength is an absolutely overrated thing today.. he can make every nfl throw, into tight windows, long distance, with touch and especially can he throw off platform without his feet set and still be accurate 20 yards downfield.. there‘s no need for a quarterback to have an arm that can throw 80 yard bombs.. those kinda plays will never happen
I think Bryce Young is constantly being underestimated, and it's really sad that because of his size, he's always gonna be judged and compared and not given credit for being a great player whos overcome all odds. Thats like saying Jordan Wiseley isnt a great Challenge player because he only has one hand. Its just not right to judge and discredit someone for a physical thing they cant change and were born with. Bryce Young was born short and guess what it hasn't stopped him yet.
I noticed how he had no elite throws in the pocket just running which indicates he's going to have immense problems if he can't sit in the pocket and make elite throws. The plays he made are not going to be there in the NFL a breakdown of the defense will be very small with NFL D-backs.
how do you define elite throws? just on the fly i can remember two throws where he was in the pocket and the play kinda broke down and he put a dart perfectly to the right sideline into his receivers hands BETWEEN two defenders and the receiver dropped it.. his receivers dropped a lot of passes last year those won‘t show up on tape most of the time.. and he also reads the defense pre snap on an elite level and knows where his throwing windows will be and goes through his progressions really fast.. his processing of the field is also so good and fast that he reacts instantly to a disguised coverage or to something the defense wasn’t showing pre snap and instantly has a picture in his head where the holes will be in that coverage.. he made pre snap adjustments on protection and routes, faked out defenders with hard counts, that’s all NFL type stuff.. and who needs what you call „elite throws“ when you know your windows and can pick up 10-15 yards on easy catches every play? just marching down the field play by play, that’s what football is about.. creating an offensive scheme that makes it seem like it’s all simple and easy throws for the qb
Nah I really like Nash as the comp. Paul is short yes but he's thick (weighed 3 pounds less than Nash despite being 3 inches shorter) and plays more under control. Nash ran the frantic SSOL offense well. You could see when he got under the basket how his size hurt him but he did enough *special* things (that guys like Curry later ran with and mastered) with kickouts/setting up his guys or the hard stop fast break top of the key 3 that he was something different and remarkable even if it wasnt quite the full revolution Steph ended up as or had some marks to it where it didnt feel as dominant as it should when it came time to criticize his MVPs Paul on the other hand is just the absolute maximized version of an old school PG surviving in a time where that doesn't exist much anymore. It'd be like if Brees was in this class.
this evaluatuon is so negative.. they are talking about one of his strengths for 1 minute then stretch a possible weakness over 10 minutes.. also the guy with the hat looked up every stat he could that makes bryce look bad.. even the completion % to the outside is bullshit because his receivers dropped the ball so much.. the pressure responsibility stat he put up is bullshit too, it was much lower the year before when he had a better oline.. and also bryce young does not drift back in the pocket often, his pocket movement is the best in this class without a doubt, he steps up in the pocket everytime there’s a chance but this last year because of the bad oline and receivers he developed the habit of leaving the pocket a bit more but he showed in 2021 that he stands „tall“ in the pocket if everything is in structure
they also showed most of the film of the game against LSU which was his worst game.. the right guy really hates young.. he looks so frustrated when the other guy brings a good young stat up 😂 and why the fuck are they saying bryce young is not an accurate passer.. just because stroud has a better completion% but they don‘t say a word about alabama receivers having a 8,5% drop rate and bryce young being pressured way more than stroud and is levels above stroud in accuracy under pressure.. i don‘t understand what this guy is talking about when he says bryce young is on his toes and that hurts his accuracy, of course you are on your toes if you‘re pressured 40% of your dropbacks like it was in that LSU game they showed.. seems like that was the only game they watched completely and other than that just his highlight out of the pocket plays.. this evaluation is almost like watching luke kuechly highlights where he sacks the qb and then a game where he gave up a td and a few catches over the middle and then saying that luke kuechlys strength is the pass rush and he needs to work on his coverage.. such a lazy evaluation
Bingo! Panthers OL aren't gonna spread a DL out that wide/thin. Young is gonna be another Kyler Murray imo. He's gonna have some games where he absolutely goes TF off. And then other games where he's just flat.
Panthers fan here. I do NOT want Bryce Young. I'm hoping and praying we draft CJ Stroud, Texans can have Bryce little ass. I don't see how y'all think a QB that's barely or under 200 lbs is gonna make it in the NFL.

Panther fan here, I’m not worried with his height or weight. Remember we were worried about Hurts’s arm? Young could gain some muscle on his arms.
Goated for pat white mention
Young was born to his craft. He’s built for it.
Young's size wont hurt him in the NFL. He's a passing qb and they're protected in today's league.
If size over production is the scouting report then I see why a lot of teams don’t have a good qb
