    One of , if not the best small runabout boats.
    Used by nearly every marine rescue , water police , etc here in Australia for decades.
    Kiwis know how to build boats full stop.
    Enjoy.

      Thank you, I agree. Lots of stuff out there with the boat running and showcasing the standard stuff but I had a hard time finding any videos with all the little detail I wanted to know when I was looking too.

    A lot of the Stabi's here in NZ have the livebait well installed under the cutting board of the workstation. So where you currently have the big black plate that has clear acrylic and you access it by lifting the cutting board. Cool boat, congrats.

    Congrats what an amazing rig! I have a Cortez 22, but my buddy Aaron flew up north to Y Marina yesterday to do a sea trial and see if he gets his own 2250 Stabicraft for So Cal fishing! Heard they started building them here in the USA now to help speed up delivery to new customers.

      The USA Hull’s are going to be the ticket. Mainly because people will be able to use them commercially. Coast guard rules won’t allow foreign hulls to be commercially registered untill the are 3 years old. It’s an old weird rule.

    Beautiful boat you have there. I just got a minn kota for my 2500UCXL and am looking into mounting options. I see that Kevin recently asked for some additional images of the bracket and area. Can I also get some pictures of how your mount was accomplished. Thanks for the video. BTW you sound very much like the Boat Doctor who did my run thru at the Y

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  Рік тому

      Thanks for checking in Todd. You bet. The boys at Y put everything together on my boat too. Not sure wear they got the bracket from but I’ve seen it on a number of builds so I would guess it’s a pretty standard bracket. I’ll make a short video and upload it.

      @@Channelislandslife thank you so much. I just checked in with Jerimiah at the Y and he says all are done custom by a local fabricator. Any close-ups / video would be great.

      Posted a short video today. I would just get the fabricators info and order one direct through him. Mounting looks pretty straight forward.

    Thank you so much for the review. It’s very detailed. I’m about to order the boat. I will be using it in the med and the boat will be always in the water. Can you please tell me if the boat is self draining? If a wave goes on deck will the water drain out or will it pass through the bilge and then go out? Also, is there enough storage for trolling rods in the cabin and on the bed? Cheers and thank you

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  7 місяців тому

      Great questions: The 2250 and 2750 are not self bailing boats. I’m not a fan of that design purely for in water or over water storage issues. Also there are 3 additional drain plugs that drain none accessible open spaces below the deck. Water “should not” be getting into these areas but can… (that’s why they have the drains) my Stabi lives on a lift over the water so all drain plugs are left in unless I remove them for Maintanance. The problem with a none self bailing design is, when it rains the boat is a giant bucket and collects water…. And it’s surprising how fast water collects in a good storm. So I now turn on my batteries so the bilge pump is live whenever rain is forecasted. Also when the bilge pump runs dry there is still a few inches of water left in the bilge box that is unprotected aluminum. Standing water and aluminum arn’t a good match over time so I periodically vacuum the bilge dry and spray some AFC-50 in the area to protect all the bare aluminum.
      Bottom line in my opinion these boats were originally designed to live out of the water on trailers so the need for a “dry bilge” and self bailing wasn’t there. It’s not a huge deal at the end of the day but defiantly an extra headache that I didn’t have with my Grady white.
      Rod storage: on the 2250 there is no designated rod storage in the cabin, however there is plenty or room for rods to be placed in the cabin when the boat is not being used. The only reason I don’t leave my expensive rods in the boat when parked is due to the unsecured zip up back section of the boat. My friend that had a 2750 with the enclosed lockable back door left his gear in the boat all the time. Side note, His was docked in the water and he would have to come turn on his batteries and drain his boat any time there was a big rain storm too. We live in CA so that doesn’t happen often.

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  7 місяців тому

      Also forgot to add the 2250 and 2750 are extremely dry running boats in the worst of weather. Only time spray comes in is when you have a nasty cross wind. :) that being said the bilge pump is the ONLY way to get water out of the boat and there is only ONE in the 2250 and it was a cheep $80 pump. I would have had the dealer upgrade to a better quality brand/version right out of the gate if I would have know it came with such a cheep life raft aka bilge pump. I do carry a spare on the boat for that reason.
      Cheers

    If you would have bought the ulterra model minn kota, you could’ve just sat inside your helm with a remote in your hand, and deploy the minn kota automatically and when your done using it, it’ll stow away/come back up into position automatically. But since you got the terrova, you have to deploy and stow away by hand.😢

    Just bring the boat to a welding fabricating shop, show them your live well tell them what you want done they will make those tubes disappear and expand your live . Well should be a pretty simple process honestly

    great video and thank you ,,,if I may ask? I heard you say you were going to get a joystick? I didn't know they worked with a single engine,

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  Рік тому

      Right! That’s what I thought. Surprisingly they have now developed the technology to make that happen. However with single engine you can NOT maneuver sideways or in a circle but you DO have the ability to lock the vessel by way or GPS into one spot with the bow or stern into the wind. It’s called level 3 helm master EX. Ultimately the trolling motor does the same thing but off the bow with a little less movement and with NO noise. Thanks for watching.

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  Рік тому

      Yes it sure does. I love keeping the under side clean and having the walk around space for cleaning. The stabi motors never trim completely out of the water so it nice to keep all the gear on the transom high and dry.

      Thanks for watching Ralph. I have more videos to come focused on the fishing lifestyle around our local area. I just wanted to get a detailed video out there of all the stuff I couldn’t find in the UA-cam world when I was shopping for this boat. Also I don’t get any perks or payments for these videos. Would love too! But I’ll keep my day job for now. Have a great day.

      Also for anyone looking in the USA it’s great they now build them on US soil because you can put them to work. Fun fact I found out was any foreign vessel’s can’t be used commercially for the first 3 years after the build date!! 😮

    • @Channelislandslife
      @Channelislandslife  Рік тому

      When I ordered it, the super fish was still around. All that meant was more options included in base price. If you look at the new packages there are very few included options… there all optional = $$$$ my follow up video talks specifically about what came with the Superfish as a standard option.
