*i just found an old husky mower at work i was planning to do this to IF i get to keep it. motor needs work but i like to tinker with that stuff anyways. glad to see someone else already does this stuff.*
You need high temp paint for the muffler or else it’ll burn off and look like crap after the first mow.
@Nathan Anderson no problem, just trying to help you make a better product, so people keep coming back to you to buy mowers.
Remember you can adjust the cable by simply screwing it in or out at the end by motor
I started using engine paint on my mowers. Just a drop of gas on the mower eats right through the other paint.
If you 2k clear over the paint it will be fine
Geek
Cable is adjustable
Not bad sucks they put such easily scratched paint on them new.
Leave it in the sun for a few seconds and itll be scorching
How did you keep the decals free of paint. They look good
Remember all the blue painters tape at the beginning of the video. The stickers were under it
Truthfully ....
..... I'd rather see a grease free mower with some scratches than a cheap rattle can job attempting to cover up apparent defects.
That's just me, I'll buy some Rustoleum stock.
i agree ....looks silly all black .....but whatever works i guess .... lol
A few scratches and a little bit of rust don't make it mow. If the handle is really bad I usually paint it, but I never paint the deck because the first splash of gas will wash it off. But I always make sure the engine is in top-notch shape before I sell it.
You painted the air filter, the CARB BODY???
OMG
I saw that to.....
awesome job
Awesome work!
I can't paint as good as you. lol
Cristi Ro Thank you!! You get used to painting things after a time or two. This mower is probably my 10th maybe... I can't really remember. Lol.
I'd use Rust-Oleum professional series paint. It lasts longer and some cans can be bought in bulk for a discount at Lowe's.
dry time is a few days on rustoleum to cure though
Call me a troll if you want to, but while it might make it look good for re-sell, that 1.5 coats of Krylon, especially using no primer, isn't going to prevent those rust spots from continuing to rust out or keep the places where the original paint is flaking off from continuing to flake off. Rust will quickly come right through that 1.5 coats of spray paint. But heck, as long as you sell it to someone before the rust shows through & the new spray paint flaked off, it's their problem then, right?
I have done all of this to sell mowers... I never touch up... If the body isnt worth it, I will keep the engine and fix one with a good body... I did that just the other month... I had a good body but carb wasnt worth messing with, someone gave me a mower that ran great but body wasnt worth 2 cents so I took the 2, made 1 great mower and sold it... It always pays to be honest... Thats how you get repeat customers... I never sugar coat or hide an issue...
im a little to detailed to leave rust behind. i tend to put way too much effort into these projects. i guess thats good for the buyer.
Preparation is important, more time you spend on preparation, you get better results.
awesome job but you can build your own sissior lift out of wood buddy I'll get you a link
That regular paint will burn off of the muffler fairly fast. Just keep around a can or two of high temp paint for the muffler and engine.
Jeffrey Beyer Yeah it did. I do have some high temp black paint around but its not a gloss black like the mower is so it doesn't look the greatest.
Earl Schieb!
I just chuckled to my self thinking...who would buy an old paint bombed lawn mower and who that first thought of was.
@Nathan Anderson how do you know it doesn't properly run?
Just one coat????? (ok missed the one and half coats statement first time), still, effectively one coat, wish I could get results like that with one coat.
Ive had success many times flipping chainsaws. most of the time I dont even clean them up and make at least $100.
how do you adjust carberator on you're chainsaws?
low and high!?
I only know stihl saws. Should be two small adjustment screws attatched to the carb but accessible from outside the cover. Just start twisting till you get it right.
I hope this doesn't come across as rude it isn't intended to, do you work on the farm or do you work somewhere
David Mollard I do work on the farm and I am self employed. Why do you need to know?
Love2boat92 totally just curious you seem to have many skills I was wondering if they were self taught or learned in trades or something like that
David Mollard I'm mostly self taught and use UA-cam a lot for any help I need. I enjoy doing things myself because I know it's done right or to the best of my ability. Just tonight I put a set of tires with tubes on rims for the first time. We are in the process of bringing an old ford 8n back from retirement. You guys haven't seen any of that though. I can't keep up with editing and taking videos fast enough for what we are doing.
Love2boat92 I love UA-cam fit things that I don't learn in my trade great wealth of knowledge. And I agree I would rather do things myself as well if I can that sounds pretty interesting I like seeing restorations
Shoddy
Annnnnd that's why you dont buy a spray painted mower....

He's a Witch!!!!!
METALMAN4Wii How?
Love2boat92 You made it look like new in the after pic witchcraft!
METALMAN4Wii Nowhere did I say it was new in the ad. I gave it the attention it needed. It ran great and looked great. I really don't see what the problem is.
Love2boat92 I'm just saying it looked like new bro.
METALMAN4Wii I wanted it to look as good as possible.
