  • Got this lot of 40 new/like new Walmart customer return mowers from a wholesaler who has contracts with Walmart and other big box retailers and sells merchandise by the pallet. Mostly Murray, a few really nice Snapper mowers too. Bought them for pennies on the dollar and have fixed almost all of them in 2 months. Most were easy fixes. Ready to go for the 2017 season when the grass starts to grow again! Also included are some of my other equipment that didn't sell in 2016 and advice on buying in bulk and working with customers if you are, or want to be, in the mower fixing/selling business. Feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have!

    Great video...its great that you sell lawn mowers that are new and tested for a affordable price..my friends laugh at me when I mow my lawn with a 45 year old 5hp tecumseh engine lawn mower until they see it start right up and cutt grass 12 inches high with no problem..

      That's awesome Henry, this video was the one that started the channel because at the time there was very little content out there on the "new" OHV Briggs and I saw nobody else doing customer returns like this. It helped carve my niche in the small engine world and start off the channel back in 2017. Closing in on 5 years!

    How to Buy Walmart Returns and Overstock Through Liquidators?

  • @scottfirman
    @scottfirman 6 років тому +1

    I knew a guy that used to work next to Sears service center. Sears was just dumping any mower returned and these guys were fishing them out of the dumpster. I was buying a few of them until sears service closed. I need a good frame for a Toro, the engine runs great but the frame ir trash. Murry push mowers typically sell for $127 so you are charging almost store prices. I fix and sell mine to use the money for my other hobby,RC planes. Yeah, you have more than I want to mess with. I live in a trailer park and really have to be care full as to not get too many. I had my own shop 10 years ago but got Cancer, that ended my fun. Now I just pick and choose what I do. Sadly, I got into riding mowers, not any more. I have one left to sell, thats it, no more riders. They suck.

    • @EllisMowersandmore
      @EllisMowersandmore  6 років тому

      I got out of riders a while back because they take up too much space and could easily turn into a money pit. I'm trying to charge about $50 under retail. Good deal with the Sears store!

    Wow, I was wondering what happened to the free one I got it was only a couple years or even one year old, everything was new looking but the motor knocked bad and it smokes like crazy so I swapped the 550 ex briggs from my old mower that just needed a carb clean. Now I have one good mower 👍 I keep the other one for when my neighbors are making a lot of noise outside, smoke them back into their house lol

    You said you are in North Carolina. I’m in North Carolina, near Raleigh. I just happened to be looking on Craigslist for random mowers in the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill section and I seen your listings. They were Murray push mowers (mostly). I seen you listed a Murray self propelled for 195. So I found that cool.

    I just bought my first bulk lot....the shipping cost hurts but I will still be able to make some easy money on them. Crossing my fingers that all are fixable and none will be salvaged but even if a couple were damaged beyond repair I should still be able to make some decent profit.

      Very nice and good luck to you. I pick them up myself which helps and only costs me about $100-$150 in gas costs to get them at current prices. Last year I got 7 Murray push mowers from Walmart that was customer returns. They were actually going to just throw them in a dumpster.One was a no oil lockup. I just filled it full of diesel fuel and let it soak. All of the other ones had their sparkplug's flatten with no gap. Reset the gap and sold them all for $90 each. I kept the one that was locked up and I'm still using it. Now it does smoke some, but who cares.

    • @EllisMowersandmore

      What a great deal. Out of each lot of 40 I've gotten so far there typically are one or two blown up and most of the others are easy fixes like water or old gas in the fuel, etc. A couple that are completely trashed too. It's a lot of money up front but they are easy to fix, if they need fixing at all, and sell like hotcakes in the Spring.

      Hank and Ellis, there is kind of a place like this in GA. They have similar locations nationwide. I know in the Aug time frame they sell pallets of lawnmowers and lawn equipment typically the overstock and perhaps returns from walmart/Kmart etc. I have never been to this place as I don't have the room for such things. here is the link
      www.novacommercecorp.com/

    • @EllisMowersandmore
      @EllisMowersandmore  7 років тому +1

      Yes there are many places like that dotted across the US, it just depends on whether they are willing to sell to the general public. I got those from a very small (husband and wife) company that does it on a much smaller scale. The August time frame is a good time to get them, harder to sell at that point but if you're able to hold them through the Winter they sell like crazy in the Spring. And you get them cheaper that time of year too since demand is down!

  • @MrGiantstpss
    @MrGiantstpss 6 років тому +1

    I'm surprised people will pay 80-120 for a used Walmart mower. You can score a toro with a cast aluminum deck for 100-150 used.

    • @EllisMowersandmore
      @EllisMowersandmore  6 років тому

      They do just because they're still in basically "new" condition aside from a few and it's a good deal for someone wanting a nearly new mower but are value-conscious. I have an aluminum self-propel Toro that is in great condition for its age that I tried to sell for $120 for about 3 months and I've still got it...people generally want "new" versus "quality" at least in this area.

      I've only had limited work with them as I've only bought about a dozen pallets, I would just use your judgement and make sure they look legitimate. They all sell them in "as-is" condition so it's more the retailers fault than the wholesalers if the pallet ends up not being good especially if it looks good physically.
