Congratulations!! You say it's been 2? or 3? years without a seizure since you started taking xcopri. That's fantastic.(I wish you had said which other meds you're taking.) Since my doctor started me on xcopri I've had the same success. It's been approx a year since my last seizure. Or aura. Nothing. And yes, like you said the side effects are minimal. Xcopri basically gives me none at all. I'm taking 150mg at night. My other med is Keppra which I take during the day (8.) He weined me off of vimpat, onfi, and for me the xcopri has been THE ANSWER. I've taken tons of other meds like you probably have. I don't have a VNS. My doc was leaning towards that or possibly RNS but xcopri to the rescue! I'm finally getting my license back in July after having an accident last July. Can't wait. I've had temporal lobe surgery as well, (in 2006) but it didn't do a thing. Congratulations again! Xcopri really is a good medication.
I take lamotrigine 200mg 2x a day. My last seizure was 4 months ago. I been taking xcorpri for 4 months and so far so good. However, I think it's made me gain weight. But no seizures so far and that's fantastic for me. Usually every 3-4 months I have 1-2 seizures.
With I get side effects from Clobazam, If I miss a dose, I find as I play my drums songs sound slower than normal, It's really weird but sucks as I keep time on drums. I was asked to have a VNS as well, but with the list of side effects, it worries me to much as a musician. My Neurologist suggested Xcopri today, great video
Mising a dose on any medicine definitely is not good so be careful with that. Take care of yourself and I hope your drumming isn’t affected when you start XCopri. God bless you!
My doctor just put me on this I'm on the 1 pill now , he just uped me from a half of one. I'm on 5 different seizure medications depakote ,vimpat abivact zonagan. I just found out after 17 years I also have focal seizures.
Thank you for posting. They’ve been working for decades to control my seizures. So they’re trying this. I hope it’s gonna do something. The lamictal I have been on helps but it’s not working great. I soooo hope it works
Hey Liz! How are you now?? I’m trying to switch from Vimpat but I’m scared I’ll react to Xcopri like I did Vimpat - the first initial 2 weeks I almost had to check myself into a hospital due to the almost mental psychosis I was going through (racing thoughts, extreme mood swings etc) but 3 weeks in I balanced out BUT still feel anxious and unhappy.
I tried vimpat it make me feel like I was starving to death as if I hadn’t eaten in a week. I have no side effects with lamictal Keppra was the worst for attitude problems and gave me side effects anyway but w keppra I never passed out during the keppra gran mals I hope to get brain surgery
I've been dealing with some pretty severe appetite suppression/weight loss on this med, anyone else? From what I researched it's a pretty rare side effect
That is definitely not a side effect for me. The only side effect I have is drowsiness/tiredness and i’m not sure if it’s totally because of XCopri since I do take other medications
Is word finding an issue specifically for this medication or do you take another with it ? I’m on high doses of Carbamazepine and Topiramate (vision issues/high labs) that I just swapped to a new neurologist and she is starting me on Xcopri and taking me off my Carbamazepine
So sorry for taking so long to answer you but I would say word finding has been an issue for me even before Xcopri. Maybe it’s epilepsy or just part of my brain surgery results. I don’t know

Everyone is so different with medicine reactions but I’m so glad you found lamictal doesn’t give you any side effects. That’s wonderful
I am feeling exactly the same way
