- I bought an old BMW E36 Compact as a daily. This video marks the start of my journey with this car, to the interested viewer I want to explain what this car was about and how it was different to other E36 models.
This car has typical problems, which i will discuss, as well as share some quirks. It comes with the M43TÜ 1.9L engine with 105hp.

Ich habe mir einen alten BMW E36 Compact 316i als Daily zugelegt. Dieses Video markiert den aufregenden Start meiner Reise mit diesem Auto. An alle neugierigen Zuschauer möchte ich näherbringen, worum es bei diesem besonderen Fahrzeug geht und welche Unterschiede es zu anderen E36-Modellen aufweist.
Dieser Wagen bringt natürlich einige typische Herausforderungen und Eigenheiten mit sich, über die ich sprechen werde. Unter der Motorhaube verbirgt sich der leistungsstarke M43TÜ 1.9L Motor mit stolzen 105 PS.

I have 1999 E36 Compact with the same engine and manual transmission, it is real fun to drive! It currently has 228K kilometers and it is in bright red (Hellrot) colour.
Got mine since 2 years with the M43B16 1.6l 1999 with Automatic Transmission. cause me no troubles and Problems and a better one then in the E46 or E90. Its Clean and nice and another 2 years in my own.
Got füll Accessoire package and Got 271000 in His clock. Original First engine and gearbox. It felt a bit Off By a Car that was produced at the Last and longest to have parts of E30 Most of all Just the end IS shorter but the messuring IS the Same. The interior of the Coupé should fit but ITS hella Work. ITS a perfect BMW for beginners or Just AS a Daily Partner. This Thing ist unbreakable and i need to say it Got His quality. Mostly no issues...but the cupholder the Main console with the Gap ist waste of space and IT really gave me the Feeling BMW Just Wanted to be compareable to Golf4, A3 and wanting to Push a successor in the hatchback area.

The doors are different from the other models. They are similar to the Coupe when it comes to length, but they have pillars like on the Sedan and on the Station Wagon, so they are unique to the Compact.
wow really nice car, looks clean ;) Ive got my self a e36 compact, 1997 mod, boston green.
the pull switch for the headlight is also a turning knob to adjust the brightness of the cluster.
Great info, in hindsight I forgot a lot of other things like for example the damn steering wheel not being adjustable in any way!
0:40 cabrio and coupe do have different hood and fenders.
7:30 Compacts never had the electric rearwindows option, only the coupe had it

Another interesting information is the compact has its own headlights which use hb4 and hb7 if I remember correctly (I swapped them out to hella coupe headlights).
