As someone already said here in the comments, Hi-man's actions seemed to be pretty repetitive. They only started to be repetitive after the umbrella man appeared though, because before that, Hi-man was just looking around.
I think that the reason for Hi-man's actions being repetitive is that he somehow knows what happens to dynamic NPC's when they get caught by the umbrella man, so he tried to put up an act, and pretended to be a normal NPC.
The umbrella man put a radio in front of Hi-man to test if he really is a normal NPC or a DNPC. But that radio was a trap, and by dancing, Hi-man fell for it, because there is no dancing animation in HL2, which means that a normal HL2 NPC would not be able to dance. This also proves that the umbrella men are intelligent.
The Interlopers/umbrella men have seemed intelligent since their very first appearance, but this demo shows that it on another level. Patience, testing, and subsequent execution. It makes me wonder what the exact thought processes would be.
I am also very interested by the horrific scream that happened just before Hi-man is killed. It's so monstrous, demonic even. It makes me think that perhaps the Interlopers are more than just what they look like...Something we can't visually perceive for some reason, possibly from the games not being able to load them or something. This mostly just me guessing, but this combined with how they swarmed the character in misty.wmv like vultures to a carcass leads me to believe there's a lot more to them than we can see.

@@zerotwo6814 I dont think the Umbrella men are interlopers. Anomidae and others typing the command are. an Interloper is someone who becomes involved in something they werent supposed to know. There was a message when Anomidae typed the interloper cmd for the first time: "CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME, PLEASE BE CAREFUL *YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE* ", It seems that the Umb men are trying to catch DMNPC's without outside distractions. One even tried to warn Anomidae by attacking him during a type five. That could have been a message saying for example: "stop this now, you arent supposed to be here".

@@whoisanarnb This all has some very strong parallels to the new ghost hunting episode 8 video on Eidam0na reuploads.
The way that the heavy's model "melts" is very reminiscent of what happened to the first ragdoll that Eida spawns in that video, and the whole situation with an entity being captured when the demo is interrupted (and then potentially being confined into a female model) is, like, a 1:1 repeat.

This could be completely wrong, but for the type 5, the hi guy acts slow and reletitive until the music box appears from nowhere and he starts dancing. To our knowledge they have no ability to spawn items, which leads me to believe it was spawned in by the umbrella men or as a test (we've seen them use traps before in misty i think) to see if theyve broken their programming
You might be onto something. In the latest Eida vid he states that these entities as he calls it can be forced to react stronger. He did it with damage triggers. This opens the question if Umbrella Men are part of another investigation if they check for how the dynamic npc reacts
The DMNPC did seem to act more NPC than DM. Maybe the uman was testing to see if it really was a Type 5. Overall very peculiar.

@@darghe It's not incongruent with some of oldest theories either: That the Umbrella Men are like a "security system", programmed to clean up loose NPCs that grew too advanced, or something.
that makes sense, the npc was making the same motion and saying "hi" repeatedly for a while.
That means something intelligent is behind the umbrella men and it is not just an automated process.
Incase you missed it, the girl's head at 13:51 - 14:15 keeps turning to see him.
This is why I love the interloper series. Not only drops a new episode out of the blue, drops a massive manifest that must have taken forever to create, the small details in these videos make it so compelling!

Oh, I get it. Amomi _is_ an interloper. The narrator lady was a dynamic npc trapped and forced to read off a script against her will, then frozen when her purpose was complete.

Got a weird theory, but what if some demos are from the perspective of the umbrella dude? Similar sounds when interacting with the scoliosis models & both models end up spazzing out in the air
It IS the umbrella man's POV, fans refer it to as a type 6. I saw multiple demos of it in the VOD, it locks onto what I think are DMNPCs and plays an eerie ping for confirmation. Among all sounds, it could just pick Hampsterdance or a simple beep, why that noise?
I would think so. I've dug through all the demos thus far for TF2 and hl2. Two of the hl2 ones in particular stuck out to me, as in one of the type 6 as we'll call them, it's in the first map of ravenholm and goes to the alley where the graffiti is, second is where spookycoast took place. Also to note the demo data2 needs a specific map, what map is this? d1_town_01, a map from the beta of hl2. TF2 had a few of these type 6 demos as well and iirc one of them was on cp_steel, wherein eida saw an anomaly. Also in demo23 there's something peculiar, the letters ELX are displayed and not much else. I'd have to see if sfm, csgo or ep2 have anything else related to this. I would check out DOD but I don't own it.

No, Anomi in the Stream said that it was a model that was made for the presentation that they put into the map to see if it did anything.
And Anomi isn't far enough in to trap one of the entities like Eida did with the Mona.

For people checking the files, there was one in particular that was weird. right before half life generated a type 5, on cs:go there was what looked like another type 5 generated, but the screen cutaway to portal rtx fixed. 1:35:28 in the original vod. If it’s possible to find that, that would be great
I found it. It's data43. dem (without the space) in the files for CS:GO. It can't be played through playback due to the unwatchable amounts of lag. But, you can access it from loading into the map directly. Type "map data3" into the console. Once it's done loading, select CT and the trigger for the demo should be directly to the right of where you spawn.

It's data43.dem in the csgo section of the manifest zip. It's a full type 5 with... new implications. I'm currently trying to download an editor to look at it closer but in summary:
The DMNPC in the demo hides in an elevator nearby before falling through the map but instead of dying or getting stuck, it falls into a custom map. A strange floating disembodied head is seen wandering the halls of the map and as soon as it notices the DMNPC, the head chases it down and the DMNPC spams the chat with HELLO before being pushed under the map again ending the demo.
A second figure is seen before the head attacks, but it seems to stand still and watch, neither of these entities are the umbrella man. The comments saying that unleashing that exe in episode 7 was like opening pandora's box didnt know how right they were. what the actual hell is going on

I absolutely think the commentator is some sort of ai, she appears in interloper 7 and is never properly introduced to us, and the editing from part 6 to 7 has a huge jump 7 is very well edited in comparison, I noticed also in earlier parts (probably part 4-6 I can't exactly remember) the editing got rlly shoty behind the scenes stuff being left in and shots that went on too long. I have a theory that this could be the ai training to edit?
Maybe it's just the model following the camera since it was used in recording?

It's so funny how many things that are being overlooked by him because of being focused on something else. 13:49 The instructor who explained the whole probe process in searching through the darkness that disappears, but he doesn't talk about cause he's focusing on the skybox. (Who also suspiciously looks like just an accessorized dummy from the server addon ad we saw a while back). The heavy demo saying "BYE BYE" because he is checking if the stream ended around that time. It's so silly and I wish film theory would do an episode on this already, so I don't have to break my laptop trying to explore everything myself.

The stream gets gaslit by chat into thinking the umbrella man was in the letsplay segment, demoman tf2 caps all control points, the dm npc tries to appeas the umbrella man with greetings and a dance, eida machinina communicates with possible ghosts, and heavy tf2 ascends (the umbrella men cant stop him now hes god)!
This is the best abridged version of events I could think of.
I mean, Eidamona had the Umbrella Men showing up in his games, it would make sense it would start showing up in Anoms games as well no?

Holy moly, we got a demo from the umbrella man perspective at 16:30, maybe they are two ai, one trains to seek, the other trains to hide, and maybe the realistic movement is to hide within realistic situations, and by using a ai trained to hunt "waldo", the other ai progressively becomes more realistic and "human" to blend in.

If this is the case the one at 16:30 implies that Umbrella Men see their targets as deformed versions of the character, which they usually aren't. I see this as something done to how they see the world intentionally, it reminds me of that one Silent Hill 3 quote. "Monsters? They look like monsters to you?".
@@rotomfan63 It could also maybe be evidence that Type 3 demos are actually demos from a different game. Perhaps this is a recording of a DMNPC being killed from a different game superimposed onto tf2, and the deformed appearance is because the heavy's model doesn't fit properly to the DMNPC's skeleton.
@@staryoshi06I agree, but I think that valve was trying to make a game truly realistic, and what was left was used to make all their other games. They might have worked as sections, and the dmnpc we have left are the training tools, but since we don't have valves methods, they see us as other dmnpc, hence why they are attacking us. So what we are seeing is a completely different map and textures compared to what the dmnpc sees.

I see a lot of people theorizing that this is the dynamic npc "faking" being a half life 2 npc. I disagree. Remember those node blocks we saw before, where, once one was in the game, the npc stopped what they were doing and tried to touch it? I think these dynamic npcs were part of valve's attempt to make npcs more realistic, and these nodes were built to direct them. However, they ended up *too* real, being scared and acting on their own when there isn't a node block. I think these are AI "trapped" in the role of an npc, and being intelligent enough to fear their captors. It reminded me a lot of the behavior of chell when the portal incident happened; the intelligence left, and all that was left was the AI to follow nodes.
These s.pull commands seem eerily like training AIs. Why this is still happening years after HL2 is out of production is a huge mystery. It's almost like the umbrella men are exploiting this old tech, testing it, and weeding out those who find out by crashing and breaking their game, like with portal

It happens to me every time. I'm always on my PC in the evening, especially around 9. I looked at it on my recommended UA-cam hub page and saw it had 56 views and thought "That will probably be at least four digits after I actually open the video"

To update this theory with a new type of demo. A type 6 demo is a demo that takes place in the perspective of the umbrella man. After examining I’ve found that the “Are you trapped” demo by eidamona had the same thing. Npc being manipulated in some way, and to add more you can see the camera arrive at another map… kinda like the umbrella man.
Edit: Add the HL:DM white room oddity of a demo to the theory.
Something important to note at 13:49 is that if you focus on the model used for the Project Skybox video, the head is following Anomidae the whole time unlike the rest of the NPCs, even turning it's head a full 180 around it's neck to look at him.

We're all in agreement that the presence/appearance of the professor NPC is somewhat unsettling, right? I can't be the only one who thinks this random character's appearance is something more than just an obtuse late addition of someone who wanted to do VO for the series.
Especially after the weird T-Posing and "confirm/button press" in the last entry.
God damn, I love this series. Probably the best ever mystery I've ever been able to witness.
Especially creepy is the fact that the model started looking after the player, which is shown in this video. During the stream, the model was static and didn't move at all (before interloper's return and demo generation)
@@M5H4cK I actually dismissed that as part of her programming, like the NPC was coded to follow the player as the player's perspective is generally where things are recorded from, so that he wouldn't have to manually pose the NPC when recording.
But now that you mention it wasn't happening before, I have this persistent uneasy chill rolling down my spine. I guess I didn't NEED to sleep tonight...

Some thoughts:
- While we've been aware of this for a lil while, Anomi is clearly intentionally withholding info or not bringing up certain moments from the stream. While the Type 5 was definitely the highlight of the stream, there were other moments that felt important but simply weren't acknowledged. The most damning is what the hell happened with Portal RTX, with the glowing bright light in the void?
- Alongside the withholding of info, we now have a lil more evidence that the kind lady from the last episode is likely a DMPC. When Anomi was in the skybox mod for a bit, you can see her head following him. I saw one commenter theorize that maybe her head is set to follow the player, but I don't remember her doing thah during the stream (do correct me if Im wrong). If she is one, she is by FAR the most advanced DMPC, with a full grasp of english (assuming that is her talking in the last episode) and very human-like movements. I am curious if her relationship with Anomi is similar to Eida and Mona, where she is being contained against her will, or if her and Anomi have a more mutual/friendly dynamic.
(EDIT: I did notice another commenter mention that the lady's head moving in this video could potentially be a completely unrelated entity to whoever we saw speaking with the model in a previous episode. This is further backed up by the latest Eida upload, where he show cases a DMPC "possessing" a ragdoll model. Basically, the lady isn't a DMPC herself, but some OTHER entity made it's way into the skybox and took over the model themselves. If that is the case, then Anomi may have just accidentally captured an entity in front of us, similar to Eida. We'll just have to see.)
- Personally, the demos we saw in the stream and the end of this video are what I think to be the POV of an umbrella man, or at least some sort of hostile entity. In the new Type 5, we can see the umbrella man moving in a very similar way and even making a similar noise. If this is the case, then the final demo in this video may show something completely new: a DMPC who seemed to resist (to some degree) the umbrella man's influence. If the sound being made is the umbrella man's "weapon" (for lack of a better term), which can be seen being used in the earlier TF2 demo, then it simply did not work on this DMPC. We even see the umbrella man get visibly frustrated at this and starts spamming it on the Heavy model to no avail. I get the feeling this is not the last we've seen of this Heavy model.
Honestly, I haven't taken a look at the file in the description yet, but I'm excited to check it out when I have the free time. I'd love to know what weird shit is in there, if at all. I especially want to see that weird Half Life 2 demo we saw of the NPC run away with the shotgun, then the camera seems to turn to face a rock for several minutes straight. Something about that demo does not sit right with me. There was also that final CSGO Legacy demo that appeared to maybe be a Type 5 during the stream, but I'll have to check it out.
Heavies seem to be something else in this whole puzzle, they always appear to be glitching in some way. It also seems to me that the "viewmodel heavy" and the "world model heavy" are two different beings, one being the Umbrella Man and maybe the other one being a DMPC like you said. Also, it's worth to note that the first things to appear about this whole mystery were the glitched heavies, the two from the "Souce Filmmaker 10th Anniversary" and the other instance from Anomidae's twitter. There was also the music video of the engineer, there it showed a blue heavy seemly dissapearing while turning the missing texture of source (Purple and black squares).
@@hlthelel I almost completely forgot about the other Heavy models. Maybe it's another thread for Anomi to start investigating down? That would be strange though, for that one specific model to be much more tied to DMPCs and INTERLOPER than any other source model, especially compared to something like Half Life (the game Source was made for, right?)

@@hlthelel I actually did just remember that one of the few (if any) Type 5 demos we have from TF2 does involve the FSKY server (big letters spelling FSKY could be found near the player spawn in the map data of the demo), so maybe it's a connection to that? I'm just reaching here, but maybe the initial FSKY server was a TF2 server and the Heavy DMPC was one of the first or only ones nearing completion? 16:45, "heavy"'s movements are pretty erratic here. Almost like an Umbrella Man, Maybe we are seeing something from an umbrella mans viewpoint? Plus the same sound happens whenever the "Heavy" teleports to watch the distorted heavy walk around. The exact same sound has appeared in the past to signify Umbrella Men appearing.

calling it now, the last demo was either a 2nd person type 5 or a brand new type 6 that probably happens when a type 5 happens in a type 3 when connection is lost making it a very rare occurrence and possibly a new insight to this whole project.

Anomidae! Brother I need to discuss a sleep paralysis hallucination I had about this series (no joke). I had a dream I was stuck in some source game online basically just straight out of your videos, it was a room full of pipes, barely lit, and hl2 characters with blue outfits floating without eyes towards me. I woke up, but in my ROOM, a floating hl2 character was in the corner, just staring at the wall and slowing rising, wriggling like crazy in place as they rose. Then they disappeared. Coolest shit ever

@@mentallyillfinger It could be signs that the AI is growing more advanced - I.e., it could be a transitional state between a type 3 and type 4.
But, on the other hand, it also has parallels to the "type 6" demos, which also fixate on "Objectives" or "points of interest" on the map, but those seemingly have the ability to use console commands/violate the normal rules of the game with impunity, so they do it at a thousand miles per hour.
One of the demos in the archive (data48, it's uploaded on the Discord) even has another TF2 demo where it's very bad type 4 gameplay against bots at first, but then it suddenly starts deleting NPCs. More examples in the same vein of "evolution"?
It's an ARG rule nowadays: there is a Discord somewhere that has already perused those demo/map files upside-down within hours of the video release. We here on YT are several days behind the curve waiting for a comprehensive compilation to catch up.

So far the crumbs we got offered a CS:GO Type 5, plenty of "Type 6" videos where deletions occur, etc. as well as at least three messages hidden in demo files, starting with "FOR SERVER.a" and with one of them noting player input activity on Nov. 20, 2023 so it's recent; and comments in the map files, like "I think mapgen started learning" (from memory). There is still a kiloton to unpack, plenty of untold oddities, it must be / have been a fun egghunt for that Discord server.
What I've convinced myself of so far is that the body in 15:33 is not a Type 5 showing up. Moves too quickly, too game-like. And likewise the player itself is not an umbrella man. Sure they can pop up from nowhere, but they usually move, not teleport. Plus regarding Type 6 I don't remember umbrella men deleting anything. I don't even associate the weird Type 6 sound with deletion: plenty of cases where you hear the sound and nothing disappears (and vice-versa).
One thing people have pointed at is a demo file mirroring Eida's scout footage. And yeah it looks the same but it's also too fast and going out-of-bounds.
So far I've convinced myself that 15:33 is the player's camera. That is, one of Eida's entities took over the body but the camera itself, for whatever reason, remained unsynched. The rest is just the camera tracking the entity / the entity struggling with the camera. And that, to me, can be generalized to explain types 1-2 or even types 3-4: any time an entity picks a body/object, a recording happens. Types 1-2 are just the camera unable to track the player (entity) and so the entity gives up in short order; type 2 delay could be the time it takes to "disconnect". Types 3-4 could be an entity picking an object during a player session, so the recording happens on a busy camera, locked to the player; if type 3 is from a different map, that could be the entity, well, being on a different map (doesn't explain the suicidal tendencies though).
Type 5 remains unexplained and type 6 is a stretch: most people seem to assume it's administrators hunting entities while I'm more inclined to see game hacks, players/entities having fun with the mechanic. Look, it's a game, it's players, Fsky is not a Valve lab' gone rogue.
Anyway yeah, ep9 will be fun. Looking forward to it.

I think that the demo we see at the end is mona taking over the ragdoll, and the heavy model teleporting is the POV of a umbrella man trying to delete Mona, but it seems Mona can overpower them, sometimes, that explains the "jingle" we keep hearing is the umbrella man unsuccessfully attempting to delete mona, short story Umbrella men are a defense mech to keep mona trapped inside of the severs

Theory: what if all or some of the "normal gameplay" type demos are actually Type 5s who know what's going on enough to hide from the umbrella men? They pretend to be normal demos to avoid deletion, but then when the server closed the Heavy realized it could drop the facade and float away.

I think the tf2 clip at the end somehow became a third person view of a type 5. The messed up heavy was the type 5 npc, and we were looking through the eyes of an umbrella man. What this means, I have no idea, maybe heavy was just tired of standing still and went for a walk, and anomidae got pissed his payed actor was leaving so he sent heavy to the shadow realm

I think the thing that crashed tf2 was a type 3 that glitched into being a type 5 (or maybe type 6 (irregular) like the weird 3 hour fly into another map demo) midway through after the demo's player replay said "BYE BYE"

From the looks of it and from what others commented. I think the demo showed us a perspective of an umbrella man doing its thing with a type five npc. Namely the heavy.
If we can take any info from
Eidas latest upload is that the dynamic npcs take control of the nearest ragdoll. Anomi got disconnected from the server and probably left his heavy as a ragdoll that got taken over. Why his type three demo then behaved like an umbrella man is super mysterious though.

In these demos a type 5 npc appears to escape and/or hide successfully from the umbrella men, thus upgrading it to a type 6.

Theory; The umbrella dudes exist to check whether the demo dudes have good enough dance moves and vibes. Hi man almost succeeded, but didn't have enough boogie in him.

I think Anomidae is Eida, as many people have pointed out Eida Mona is an anagram of Anomidae.
EVIDENCE FOR AND AGAINST THIS
AGAINST:
1. Eida seemingly has access to information Anomidae does not have.
2. Their voices are different
3. Eida uses the DM Editor tool, while Anomidae seems to be entirely unfamiliar with it.
4. Anomidae 'discovers' Eidas channel and seems to be unaware of the information in said videos.
INFORMATION IN FAVOR:
1. Anomidae is most certainly not being entirely upfront with all the information being gathered. He seems to prioritize certain leads/pieces of information over others, to the point that he seems to miss blatantly obvious things. Judging from the high production value of these episodes, it's likely that he cherry picks information that he deems as 'relevant'.
2. Based on the bumpers, which match the description of the original FSKY demo bumpers, it's likely Anomidae is being helped/supervised/threatened by a larger organization, probably FSKY itself. It would give motive for Anomidae to not be upfront with all information, as it's likely he is withholding information the organization doesn't like being shared.
3. Eida and Anomidaes voices are different, but this could be explained by Eida being a teenager and Anomidae being an adult, thus his voice developed. The gap of ~8 years between Eidas final upload and Anomidae's first part in the investigation is plenty of time for ones voice to change during puberty. Furthermore, Eida is almost certainly not a native English speaker, while I think it's pretty likely Anomidae isn't a native English speaker either. Thus, it's likely over 8 years Anomidae has gotten more comfortable in his English voice.
4. The presenter from part 7/8 is quite obviously a DM_NPC, that or at the very least it's using the same tool in the FSKY advertisement because of how uncannily similar the movements are. The presenter having a 'voice' could just be Anomidae's friend irl dubbing over the DM NPC's movements. The fact that Anomidae now has access to tools to make a DM NPC and chose to make a female model is very similar to what Eida did to Mona. It could be that Anomidae has had time to get better at curating his own 'Mona' and has used his experience to successfully use his own Mona to help in the making of a video. This is also what Eida did in some of his videos, using Mona in his videos.
5. With how quickly Anomidae dismisses the DM Editor tool as a hoax until given irrefutable proof, it feels likely that Anomidae has some sort of aversion to the DM Editor tool. This would make sense considering the jumpscare Eida received while using it. Furthermore, the DM Editor tool seems to be closely connected to FSKY, and thus the organization overlooking Anomidae might not want him covering it.
