Looks cool! However, as a collector and reseller, with so many free options, I personally don't see myself paying for an app with almost the same functionality.
Yea, he's trying to create a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Far too many free options that most other people will be using. Even without going for price charting apps/websites, it's too easy to just do some quick looking around to come up with a price. Unless it's a rare piece, but in that case the price is basically whatever you want it to be.
Can't speak from a collector's standpoint, but from a resellers standpoint, the time savings of this app would easily justify the price. Bouncing between apps/sites searching the same thing over and over is such a time suck. Quicker searches=more games scanned=more profit. Now if only there was an app like this for shoes....
Really like the great ideas you got going around for the app stuff.. I cant wait to see what the end product will look like.. love the name and the template I think you've got a solid compound for not just an idea.. but a game changer for the community good stuff man!
Really like the name and brand… kind of surprised that name/domain wasn’t also expensive like Loot seeing how that term is very well known in the gamer space. Overall, I think you went with the right choice and it presents itself with a lot of opportunity for mission statement/values as well as a cool aesthetic.
As soon as I seen the Name 1 Up! That had just to be the correct name. It's quick, simple, and easy to remember. You are on the right path my friend. Can't wait to see the finish product!!!
Legal question, do you need legal authorization to publish other site owned property database numbers on your app? Large companies legal departments can be very fickle about their information.
On PriceCharting's own website it mentions: "All Price Data on the site is sole ownership of PriceCharting. You may not republish, redistribute, or reuse the price data without explicitly citing PriceCharting as the source with a link to the url where the price is found."
I’m honestly surprised by how bad the names Bolt came up with are. None of them jumped out to me. Loot would’ve been perfect. 1-Up is alright but doesn’t have much connection to what the app is for and is kindve generic. Regardless, good luck with your venture and hope it works out!
Hi, yes your wife was right! I always suspect apps with the names you were mentioning to be a little suspicious. Great idea and I'm looking forward to using it. I'm a reseller but I'm not that knowledgeable about console games and I do come across them quite often.
1Up arcade cabinets?? How is that not a conflicting issue? That being said, 1Up is a great name. I hope it all works out for you, I can’t wait to see the finished product.
I think the app is a really cool idea, but at the same time, not exactly something I’d want to pay for heavily each month. Granted, I do like the eBay fees feature. It would be helpful to know right off the bat if my potential investment would be worth it or not. However, paying anything more than $1.99 maybe $2.99 would be a hard pass for me. Only because that, albeit small in terms of price, would just be another bill for my over head. It’s especially tough for me to opt into another subscription because 1.) im incredibly cheap lol and 2.) price charting, eBay. Amazon apps ect are already free.
Not trying to hate at all I love the idea of what your doing but will it be able to go up against and rival price charting, especially now that they have an app i feel like that it’s some pretty hard competition, but I do wish you the best of luck
Sounds so cool Caleb, would definitely be useful to me as an Amazon FBA seller but since I am UK based, do you know if it would work for tracking prices in the UK market or could be used in the UK in a future version of the app at all? I'm sure you'll get loads of US based users as it is but I'd love to make use of the app if possible, so be it if that's in a potential future version. Much love man keep it up
What about using computer vision for disc identification? For example, looking up disc only games. You wont have barcodes in those instances. Could be a cool v2 add
1up is honestly so much better. Never use words that can be confused for others, Loot has too many rhyming words people would get confused easily. "Did he just say Loop? Flute? Lute?"
I like the name but you still have to deal with competition there is many 1up apps out there, they all seem to be overseas but they do exist and even if it's not trade mark issue it will be a search issue. What impresses me the most is the 3 different price categories, to see price charting, ebay and amazon all in one and it is accurate... that is a huge time saver, I'd already buy in on a monthly subscription for that, in fact I wish it was already out. I can't tell you how many times price charting was so off base hundreds of dollars usually when it comes to big hitting collector's editions, they just don't seem to scrap the correct information for them or the way they collect the information is inaccurate. Thanks for these videos though it's a cool creation piece go through step by step for those that don't.
A power app that really boosts your sales would be worth the right price, so I’m not complaining. But, I don’t suppose you’d consider having a reseller tier for people like myself who don’t yet have an established business and is flipping and hunting in the few hours per week that I have when I’m not caring for the family. Something in between the reseller tier you demoed and the collector’s tier? Maybe the monthly price for reseller tier would work, but I’m honestly not yet sure how the economics of that would work out, whether my income per month would justify the initial buy-in. Anyway just some thoughts. Looks like everything I’d want in an app like this. :)
I would have pitched something relating to discovery or destination because the point being to locate or find something, a word play on compass is the 1st thing that comes to mind for your app idea, secondary would've been Di$count, or Di$covered, and an out there one would've been relating to value like Pre$tige. I'd get in contact with collection apps like Retro Game Collector to check about possibly having your app available as an upgrade plug in to collab extra add on sales.
I just got into reselling because of you! The other day i scored a wave bird from goodwill for $4!!! I’ll 100% subscribe to your reseller subscription! I’m so excited and i can’t wait!!!
I agree, Loot is a lot better. The only thing is that both Loot and 1UP are already in trade with Lootaku Crates, Arcade1UP. Caleb kind of got the short end with the amount of money he paid his marketing team
My eyes are bad and kinda hard to see in the video if it's there, but it would also be important to show the amounts sold recently/listed so you can get an idea of how quickly an item would be moved. I know when I first started I didn't really understand the importance of that on eBay and still have items I bought years ago thinking what a great deal 😅
Fantastic idea, I think you hit a game winner here with have the multiple reseller locations fees figured in. Can't wait to try it out. Did you say you were doing a Beta? I think I recall hearing that? I would have done something more than just 1up but hey that's just me.
I think loot would have been a good app, and even more marketable than 1up. Also, now that pricecharting has their app, I honestly would never pay for an app like this, at least as a collector.
Hi Caleb, Will this be an international or usa only app? Here in Germany theres a graffitti crew thats called 1UP, as a piece of useless side info i just wanted to share I wish you best of luck for this project!
Loot could have been so much cooler. I think 1UP is kinda lame but it's easy to say and is modern, I have to agree. In any case, still looking forward to the app.
love the channel, and in no way hating, but how would this app be any different from just using price charting for free? i think would be better to make it free like them and give the payable option for more features and maybe listing direct on app?
i assume so but like cant you just calculate the fees based off % pretty easy for the normal data shown? say pricecharting is $100 and ebay fees is 12% , then just take $12 off?? maybe im missing it idk@@retrogamerescue
1Up is amazing! Looking forward to downloading that app, regardless of the pricing you come up with. Most of the pitched names felt a little too generic or cheap. 1Up is perfection. Keep up the great work!
One up is great! I’d pay a yearly fee but probably not monthly at $5. Also as an Australian or anyone else in the world will the prices be set to that region?
Also would you ever implement like challenges, achievements or trophies? Having something like a Fitbit with walking but for scanning games? Value peaks? Personal bests and challenges to friends that are in the same game?
I really like the name but... isn't there 1Up Games? Wouldn't that be an issue? I guess not, since this was recorded mid 2023. Anyway, congrats! Can't wait to see the next video.
Hi Caleb, I’ve been watching your videos since 2022. I do apologize for not always commenting and/or liking. I just watch your videos the UA-cam app via TV. I love watching your videos, congratulations on buying a new house with your wife! Congratulations on this next journey! I hope the app will become a thing and if so I hope that it’ll become a successful app! I love the name one(1Up), it is a better choice over the others. I can’t make any promises when I’ll comment and/or like a new video you’ll upload. But I will be watching them right away or at a later time. 😁
I know this is finicky, but it was bugging me so I’m curious if it’s just me? One up is getting an extra life in video games. When he was trying to use it as a verb, I felt like it should actually be “Level Up” instead. It actually just sounds better that way to me. Am I wrong with this? And now as I’m typing and listening to more, I just decided “Level Up Loot”. would have been a pretty sweet name too
I like the name. Although I don't know that you will be able to recoup your investment. I cant imagine a hobbyist paying more than 5 bucks a month. It would take thousands of subscribers paying a subscription. But whi knows maybe it will take off.
Are you allowed to use data from Pricecharting like that? It kinda sounds suspicious. Imagine you didnt have any other info on your app (amazon or ebay). you would just be mirroring data from Pricecharting. That really doesnt sound okay to me.
Looks cool! However, as a collector and reseller, with so many free options, I personally don't see myself paying for an app with almost the same functionality.

I’d pay $10 a year but $10+ a month is too much for what value I think I’d get, especially on the collector tier.
Did I miss him talking price??
@@brittzank8987yes it’s towards the end of the video
That actually makes sense. I’d do $10/year.

Hes putting like 15 grand or so into this he would loose so much money if it was 10 bucks a year@@peterlopez4529
Paying these guys thousands of dollars and they give you Sir Price as a name. Yikes!
Exactly what I thought. Sounds like something I could have come up with using chatgpt
Guarantee those guys used AI to come up with all of those awful names with price in the title. Seriously some of those were terrible. Sir Price?
I actually really liked Price Quest. Makes me think of looking for sweet deals in the "wilds"!
Doesnt 1up exist ? John Riggs promotes it. Not the same thing but is in the game community.
Personally for these guys being in marketing I think they were all kinda blah names.

the collector version should be free and then charge for the reseller upgrade
Should be no fee. But what do you expect from a re-seller.
Can’t wait for the 1 up to come out. Best choice you had in my opinion
