I read his book and the way you describe his feelings for Jennifer Aniston are WAY overstated. WAY WAY WAY. He had a crush on her, and he thought she was beautiful. His addiction started before Friends even started. He didn't spiral out of control because of a crush on Jennifer. 🙄

@@mandymorrison5039 Not that I’m saying this story is true at all, but honestly had Jen been able to see the future, she might have been better off exploring Matthews crush, than getting with who she did. I’m sure the years and years of the relationship with Brad being rubbed in her face wasn’t easy either.

@FreeSpeech orDIE!!! People can be doing what they love and still be depressed. It might be that it's not as deep but it's still there. I've had depression as long as I can remember back into childhood. Even when doing what I love (teaching natural horsemanship and training horses), it's less severe but still there. I can be totally present and feeling good while engaged with students and horses, but the negative thoughts about myself come back almost as soon as I'm away from it for as little as 30 mins. Like Matthew Perry, I've always tried to be funny, but it's about hiding what I really feel. I've been fortunate that it's never let to any kind of addiction, unless you consider horses an addiction.

What a guy! I have so much respect for him. Plus, this shows people that money doesn't equal happiness. He is such an amazing actor, who knew his struggles whilst playing Chandler.
@mattew perry you are such a handsome talented sweet man I've seen every episode of friends and everyone of your movies!!!! I was really young like 8 years old when friends came out my parents watched the show every Thursday fast-forward to age 16 I got 4 wisdom teeth pulled out and they put me on Vicodin and I was hooked my parents had been on opioids since they where in there 40s and now they are 66 and 71 and have the onset of dementia I ended up becomeing a very bad opioid addict which soon turned into a heroin at the age of the 20 I went to prison just bc I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and lost 3 1/2 years of my life and then had 5 more of thoes year where controlled by parole but prison saved my life bc it got me clean well I ended up having to be put back on opioids again bc of having gallstones and my gallbladder out I was only 26 at this time I got off the opioids then I sprained my ankle really bad and my sobriety went out the widows until almost 3 years ago I went onto Suboxone program and until this day Iam still on it and clean but the moral to the story is that you helped me realize that I'm not alone in having an addiction can effect anyone rich or poor you inspired me to get clean and thank you so much I'm married now been almost 7 years and I still struggle every day with life but who doesn't that's the other thing you showed me about addiction I figured if you could do it I can too thank you so much for saving my life 😊and please continue telling your story because if it made a difference in my life it's making a difference in others lives also 😊❤

@mattew perry well , liked the whole entire cast of friends , but you stod out from the crowed , at least for me you did , with the comments you gave all over the place , and you reminded me of me a bit , i tried a bit extra when i was a teen and up several years , but then i got to know myself as you have been doing through the years , and to answer your question , from aboute the start of friends and untill the end of it , the last scene where you guys left your appartment , that scene was hard to watch , so HUGELY many years of memories you had gone through together . and i have also seen and read aboute you and your reunion with your co workers , david , jennifer , cortney , matt , lisa , . but like i said , you stod out from them in a very positive way , but i could never imagine the struggle you went through during those years of making friends . i myself feel its so personal that you have told and said aboute your health struggle , that i have felt people have put their nose into someting that aint there business to prey , but you have been so open with it and talked aboute it , so you really deserv what you have accomplished both during your time on friends and afterwards , i hope your proud of yourself .
It always seemed like Jennifer was always by his side, looking after him at the friends reunions and other times.She had her eyes on him in a protective way.She is now struggling with this loss, and I feel for her.She really cared about Matthew.
I love him for his brutal honesty. He looks so much like my own son who took his life at 26 years old. Of course he fell for Jen, she was cute vivacious and friendly.

And even after making it through all this, the world still loses him. Man, it's so heartbreaking.
Absolutely amazing that a person hurting so badly on the inside, brought so much laughter and happiness to others on the outside. May God bless this man forever and I hope that one day he finds true happiness. I wish him nothing but the best.

I felt sad when I first watched the video. I met and loved him as Chandler in the TV series Friends, he was my favorite character in the series. I was sad when he said he didn't want to be remembered as Chandler Bing when he died, but I understand. He passed away today, the first thing that came to my mind was this video. Oh such an inspiration for a lot of people out there. I just love this guy to pieces cos he’s not ashamed of opening up about his addiction. He wants to help people now and for that I have so much love for him.
Some truth from Mathew’s’ life as a baby is similar to my brother’s. My Brother was a colicky baby who cried a lot in his crib. My Father who was a Pediatrician gave him phenobarbital also to quiet him. He later grew up with a cocaine habit. My Brother who is no longer alive finally got clean after a life of drugs and three marriages, but it was hell for him and those who loved him.

I can empathise with that feeling of needing validation, especially from my family since I’d been neglected as a child, so badly that my obsession for love and validation drive me into such a dark pit. I have never taken drugs or alcohol but I can imagine you’d do anything to numb that pain. I’m so glad he’s better, and anyone who is struggling, I see you and wish I could give you a warm hug

So the medication they gave him back then got him addicted for his whole life? Maybe also his parents didn't know back then how addictive the medicine was. The doctor prescribed it. I guess they tried to do their best at that time.

Its show no matter the success or wealth you have, depression and addiction can hit anyone. To see a man that has fought his demons and continues to fight them and knowing he has done things to help others is amazing.
I will always see him as Chandler the same as I will always see the others are their friends characters.
I think you are a tremendous human being. I laughed with you through Friends, and I cried for you as I read your book. It's obvious (to us) that you are a very special man. Every baby needs what you lacked and some need more than others. I pray you'll find that love from a person who sees you for the lovable person you are. Please stay strong!

Recently my daughter was visiting, while I was preparing dinner she asked if she could help. I said sure, set the table. She opened a cabinet for dishes and found a bottle of Jack… she freaked out. By this time I am 6 years sober, I informed her to look at the bottle and her hand print in the dust… it was a constant reminder of the demons, that’s all. The struggle is real, Jack is gone and yes I am proud to say still sober

So weird we get attached to characters and their life is such opposite. chandler is the core of friends. Its breaks my heart how he kept going for the sake of show , its a big sacrifice for so many people maybe nobody saw it that way. But i cant stop feeling how he gave his best at the show while feeling worse evryday. Monica and chandler is a living fantasy . sometimes life is so unfair. U can never have it all never. Be Matthew , jen or any of them else. i love this show... i still watch it 7 years n onn n off my fav scenes. i hope he gets all the happiness he deserves it all. jen has shown so much strength and grace with evrything that came along with so much of fame love and success. I knew when he was loosing so much weight on friends that something was wrong and I was trying to figure out what happened to him. Then I saw him gaining it back I thought he beat it whatever it was but I was wrong. I’m so glad he finally beat the addictions!
