Beautiful video, gentle, calm & clear footage, the music tops it off superbly, very atmospheric, stunning piece of film, almost felt I was gliding over the landscape, many thanks for sharing. Subbed 👍😊
Thanks for documenting this before it was completely erased. As a holidaymaker to Butlin's all over the country as a kid, this is sad.......but one consolation is people can still holiday in part of the old site. Although nothing compares to the magic of the old Butlins camps.
Butlins you don't know what it was like you weren't there man , someone once said Holliday camp is hell The first causality of holliday camp is your dignity , those of us who lived through it still bare the scars and we think often of those who didnt make it home , in the primrose valley in 65 as soon as we landed we were imidiatly assulted by a well dug in and equipped hen party , lost a lot of good men that day , well you started it with adagio for strings lol great video enjoyed it.
This was my first family holiday It was around 1979 and I was six years old and confined to a wheelchair, I happened across the site some years later whilst visiting primrose valley it was a very sad experience.
Wow Brilliant!!!! Just imagine the Thousands and Thousands of memories of Holiday makers arriving at the Butlins Filey Camp .My Mother and Father first went in 1947,and We as kids in 1955 Heartbreaking Video!!!!!! Love to return and walk the Old Platforms ? Is it allowed?
Thank you for your kind comments. I think the land is used by the farmer but not sure on the ownership. I will be revisiting this year with my drone as last year was a bit misty
Sad end to what was a great place. I went in 83, hard to see it being totally eradicated. Not a trace is to remain apparently. Just soulless caravans, no fun! Billy would be very disappointed
I visited the old station 13th May 2022.Nothing, Nothing at all remains!!!!!!!!!! Very sad indeed!!!! All the evidence of any Platforms have now been Destroyed and Bulldozed into a corner!!!!!!!! The only bit that remains are the Old Steps and Iron Railings up to the Main Road, but impossible to get up them. The entrance to the Road Train Tunnel have now been totally filled in.I wish I had gone 20Years ago.!!!!!!!!
@@mickeytheviewmooI agree with you there in the mid 70s to early 80's my late parents had two static caravans on Primrose valley next door and I remember Butlins next door well I recall things like the chair lifts and the swimming pool with glass sides and in the mid 70s myself and a few school friends from the school I attended a few of us including myself and my fellow school friends and some teachers from my school had a week's holiday at Butlins Filey this was around 1979 I was 8 years old at the time and I recall what an amazing place and awesome holiday camp it was a shame really that from 1982 onwards to 1983 when it closed for good was a shame even more so that even though the business guy Trevor Guy couldn't make a viable option in 1986 to try and reopen it as Amtree Park even though Primrose Valley Filey was extended on some of the Filey Butlins camp and that thankfully some of the memories of Butlins Filey lives on as the Bay Filey 😊
@@stephenchecksfield632 Many thanks Stephen for recalling your memories of the camp. Happy times. A more innocent and simpler time. Wish we could go back to those days.
@@mickeytheviewmoo most welcome yes I agree that indeed the businessman Trevor Guy unfortunately in 1986 make his venture of reopening the Former Filey Butlins as Amtree Park fail but I think he had major issues with the creditor's and the financial sides of running it and making it a potential viable option to keep the camp open as I remember it being documented well on the local itv news in Yorkshire and the north east at the time and also well documented in the book by "Paul Wray entitled Butlins Memories" in itself a brilliant book and if you have a copy like myself or perhaps don't have I thoughly recommend it to you a great read cheers Steve 😀

Yes, I was glad I filmed it. The next year the whole area had been flattened. Many thanks for your comment.
Visited Butlins with my mam and dad back in the 70s. Can vaguely remember the train statiin and camp . So sad to see this, but nice vid .

Probably a ploy from the farmer. I do not think he likes folk on his land. My answer to that is do not buy ex railway land for a quick buck.
very sad
I agree 😔
