    Thanks for the ABBA. Bjorn - the guy playing the guitar and her exhusband wrote the lyric's. It was at the time of their divorce. He has said he wanted to sing it but knew it was an Agnetha song. When he gave her the lyric's and ask her lf she would - she read them and teared up. But she wanted to sing it. For years Bjorn denied it was about them but now they both admit it. Agnetha say's she was touched by him doing it. And they both say now it was a healing thing between them. Their studio crew talk about how sad all the breakup songs were to do. And they couldn't believe they were doing them. The crazy thing about ABBA is that the girls are the guy's perfect voices. And it goes the other way too. The girls have never found other songwriters who gave them songs so tailor made for each of them. That's why the reunion is so touching. I mean for decades they were never even photographed together. They were all polite but evasive about the breakups. I can tell you the happiest I've ever heard Agnetha is since the reunion. Frida's really upbeat too, even saying she wanted to do more together. The guy's are heaping praise on the girls and talking about how happy the girls seem now. Benny said he would do more if they asked just to see them so happy. They just released a photo of them all together, all happy, the girls beaming, just touching to see. I've always felt a big part of the breakups was the fame. It was just too much too fast and they all felt trapped. Thanks again for doing the ABBA songs. I know it's a pain. For me it's just so much fun seeing you hear the songs for the first time. I really do believe that by sharing ABBA we make the world a little bit better.

    Her name is Agnetha. The guy without the beard, Björn, was her husband. They separated a few months before recording this song. He wrote the lyrics and when she first read them, she cried 😢. The red haired lady is Anni Frid ( short form: Frida) she has been married to the other guy named Benny.

      Let's remember that Benny first wrote the melody
      Björn took it and wrote the lyrics in a lonely night, next to a bottle of alcoholic beverage.
      This was immediately 'after' the consummated legal divorce
      (not 'during')

    "The winner takes it all" (1980)
    It lends itself to many interpretations, some wrong or with information errors, so I want to make some clarifications, based on what I have read in notes and seen in videos
    the song was composed in July 1980
    the melody is first, by the pianist Benny
    then guitarist Björn writes the lyrics in one night in just two hours
    and record a demo with your voice
    but then in the recording studio Björn & Benny decide to give the lyrics to Agnetha to be interpreted by Her
    I think that, as with "The day before you came" later in 1982,
    Agnetha first recorded her part alone,
    and the chorus was recorded separately
    lyrics are A Story of Separation and Divorce
    ABBA previously had several (and very successful) songs about breakups and separations, such as "S.O.S." and "Knowing me knowing you" among others
    by then the four were two happy couples: Agnetha & Björn;
    Benny & Anni Frid (Frida)
    at the time of the recording of
    "The winner takes it all"
    it was only a month after the legal divorce of Agnetha & Björn had been consummated
    but They had separated as a couple in December 1978, and both officially communicate it at the beginning of 1979
    ABBA premieres "Chiquitita" at the Concert for UNICEF, does the TV special "ABBA in Switzerland" (plus other television presentations), records the album "Voulez Vous" and the single "Gimme Gimme Gimme" (including its official video) and makes the 1979/1980 Tour through North America Europe and Japan, all with Agnetha & Björn separated as a couple
    at the time of recording Both said that the story is a fiction, that it is not their real life, that in their divorce there were no winners;
    years later Both admitted that the song was inspired by their divorce; Agnetha says that the fact that it was exactly at the time of her divorce made her special and allowed her to put her emotion there; but that also talks about what happened after Benny & Frida as a couple too
    but there is a subtle difference
    It is not the same to write a song about the divorce of the couple, to be inspired by their divorce to write a song
    The latter was what really happened
    Björn was inspired by their divorce and wrote a fantastic lyrics, which possibly has part of His experiences, but it is not the real thing they lived;
    and logically Agnetha felt emotion when reading the lyrics and singing it, because even more than a year and a half after Her separation, the memories of happy times are still close
    anyway, both Agnetha and Björn were very professional in four years (1979/1982) at ABBA in their post-separation as a couple

    remember that ABBA is acronim with initials of Their first names, and in the begining two swedish couples:
    Agnetha (blonde singer) &
    Björn (guitarist songwriter)
    Benny (pianist songwriter) &
    Anni Frida (brunette singer)
    "The winner takes it all" (1980)
    is one of the Best Songs by ABBA
    and the Most sad and emotional too
    The best lyrics and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the lead singer Agnetha
    The lyrics is a fiction, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978
    These is the Official Video, with more than 100 millions views in UA-cam, it was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song
    it shows Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times, and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings
    ABBA have more than 20 worldwide hits between 1972/1982, included:
    Waterloo, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take a chance on me, Chiquitita
    All these songs are in your album recopilation GOLD (1992) that a few mounths ago just arrives to 1.000 weeks at Top 100 in UK Official Charts (first group singer or artist to do it)
    For a new reaction I suggest You
    "Waterloo" (1974), Their first worldwide hit, at Eurovision Song Contest,
    when ABBA schock the world with their victory between 17 songs of all Europe ,
    and begin the Legend of ABBA
