Beat the BOX and 1

Here ya go coach!!! Simple quick hitting and proven stuff. The key to beating the box and one is the same as beating any crap defense. DO NOT SETTLE FOR BAD SHOTS. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT pass up good shots. Push the pace. Get more shots up than the other team. OUT will them!!! Im really proud of you guys. This summer will be even better!!!

Yes. If a team is in a box and 1, they are in a zone with no practiced rules. If you simply put the "big" down low, you are running your offense exactly where their defense is. This is a sure sign of a coach who doesn't know any better. Simply putting the big guys on the block for the sake of putting them there or having those spots filled is why a box and 1 can occasionally work.

That is 1-4 Low into a Horns-like set.
Horns bring the Big Out to the 3 Pt Line with the Shooters in the Corner.

Pick and rolls really work well also. You dont have to use 1-4 high sets but it gives you an opportunity to see if they are really in a box and 1 or if theyr are just sagging in a help side man.
DO NOT forget to get the ball inside still. You should be getting post ups by having you bigs set 'Physical screens" inside the paint. after they screen, they should seal inside the paint so if they catch it, they are going straight up for a lay up. When guys post up outside the paint.... they a

are forced to make post moves which when executed outside of the paint, usually have to be made against 2 defenders. Scoring against 2 people is very diffiuclt and unless you have the right spacing, throwing it inside can handcuff kids without the correct off side spacing.
