The NH90 military helicopter is a modern, multi-role aircraft designed to meet the most stringent NATO standards. Developed in two versions - tactical troop transport (TTH) and NATO frigate helicopter (NFH) - the NH90 contains a unique, fully integrated mission system for operations in the most demanding conditions over land and sea, day and night.
The core vehicle for the tactical troop transport (TTH) and the NATO frigate helicopter (NFH) versions is a twin-engine aircraft incorporating innovative features such as an advanced mission flight aid and fly-by-wire control system with 4-axis autopilot, along with on-board monitoring and diagnostics systems.
Versatile and compact, it is small enough to fit in the hangar of a NATO frigate, but with a cabin volume to accommodate 20 fully-equipped troops or a maritime mission system. Its wide modular cabin, large sliding doors on each side and a rear ramp make it the most accessible military helicopter available.

It is not. Expensive to maintain & unreliable. One major problem is the side door is too small to both disembark troops and have a door gunner. In Australian service the navy is already replacing them. They are so good special forces are getting there own helicopter rather than use this garbage.
@@lge330w that's because the navy only has a small number of them and no point trying to maintain 2 fleets at sea (MH60R and NH90) so makes sense to go to a single fleet. NH90 are too big for what SF do in most situations, just look at what they are considering, smaller deployable helos, otherwise they would have just got more blackhawks which would have been alot easier to introduce as they already have them.

This is my favourite, if not a close second.
And one of the most useless. That's why the Norwegians are returning all their helicopters and demanding the return of the money they paid for them. The NH90 is a bad design. Through and through. A naval helicopter that can only fly over the sea with special permission. The competition is laughing. An army helicopter that is not allowed to land on a meadow. The world laughs.

The title is wrong. NH90 is made by NHIndustries, a partnership between Airbus Helicopters and Leonardo.
Leonardo have fingers in many pies for the UK medium lift contract, this and the AW159 are potential replacements for the Puma/Bell/Dauphin replacement

🙄... really ? ...😂🤣😂 It is probably the worst helicopter in history !! Most countries that have it, keep them grounded for a lot of time. There are a lot of design failures and flaws. One is that it doesn't have a separate hatch for mg armament: it has to be placed in the door, (like the blackhawk) restricting entrance for troops. The helicopter can't witstand sea corrosion , very problematic as most countries use it for navy operations !!! The noise inside the chopper is such that dutch pilots aren't allowed to fly longe than 1 hour at a time. Spare parts are expensive and hard to get delivered . All together pilots can't get enough fly time .. etc ..
Belgium is selling their 4 tactical NH90s after 7 years service, due to operation cost and low availability. That tells you something..

The Belgian armed forces will sell its 4 NH90 TTH and will only keep the NFH version used for SAR and naval operations. The NH90 are too costly to fly and maintain. The TTH might be replaced by smaller Airbus H145 helicopters with obviously different missions in mind.

Its not as good as we think. The Dutch Government bought it because Fokker build with others on it, but the main reasons why it isn't that good: 4 intead of 5 rotorblades, less powerfull engines ( than what they designed and planned) both causes less in use if heavy cargo like Jeeps etc need to be transported and the CH-47 isn't available. Its corosion problems (wich has good prevention programs by now, but costs more money and takes more time). Also it has something to do with airbus, all Dutch helicopters made by airbus has a lot of age problems. Age related problems isn't something what happend much in the USA so far i know. All old helicopters can keep up with the new ones. If it gets replacd or gets issues, the cause is related to economical reasons. Not mechanical.

australia’s fleet has its own unique issues. theirs and new zealand’s were ordered to the same specifications yet new zealand’s fleet has the highest availability rate of any nations fleet and work fine. main difference is australia built theirs in australia whereas NZ models are european built. perfectly good helo but poor manufacturing, modifications and mission compatibility will hamper performance.
In Greece we got 20 NH90, but for some reason, now we got 6 UH60R, too. Don't know why they go for different types. The UH60R is the latest anti-sub helicopter US produced, but I don't know what makes it stand-out in order my nation to get them. There must be a reason, though.

Complete garbage. One of the most unreliable rotary wing platforms on the planet. Any prospective buyers should by basically anything else! AW101 or an AW189 is infinitely better is every aspect and is far more reliable.
