The only downside for me for the Chase Freedom Flex is the rotating category is you can get this with the Citi Custom Cash. You can use the thank you points similar to the UR points you get from Chase. Discover would be a good card as well but you won’t get the sign up bonus but the cash back is better in the long run depending on your end goal With the Amex Gold, it’s great if you can take advantage of the credits. Otherwise it isn’t the greatest card out there because you can get alternative cards where you can get the same points system with other no annual fee cards 🤷🏼♀️
It is very difficult. The best way to start would be to get a secured credit card. It's like a debit card but a credit card where you have the money deposited. My daughter used Chime to do this and within a year her credit went from none to well over 700!

They can be but at a really poor redemption. You only get 60 cents per 100 points compared to chase $1 per 100 points
