    Love that campground we spent 2 weeks there in 2022. One on my favorite places.

      We only spent one night there but certainly could have spent more--maybe we were there at the same time, Fall '22! ;))

    I enjoyed and appreciated your eye for the floral n fauna, the driftwood was gorgeous! I miss traveling with my honey bunny 😢 You are blessed! Take care! Love Fort Bragg glass beach has changed so much over the years, I've been with just my husband and I being the only ones for hours combing through looking for the red or rarer shades, have some of the drift wood too! Love our Northern Cali coast! Enjoyed😊

      Thanks! Sounds like a wonderful time on glass beach. Unfortunately, it was so crowded when we passed it that we just had to move on. And yes, the California coast is awesome!

    the "lashing" material on the forts were seaweed. Was just out there. structures and polls have been up for a couple years at least, forts not as long. cool area.

    Mattole road is so wild, but the views are worth it if you have the time to creep along! :D

      Yes, that road is pretty daunting! We've done it a few times and it doesn't get any less nerve wracking.

    Be extremely careful when throwing stick for your dog on the beach, many years ago I had a nightmare with my boxer she ingested sand and it blocked her intestines, she almost died, she was in the hospital for over two weeks I always tell people when I see them throwing a ball or a stick on the beach because every time they pick it up they scoop up sand and it will completely block up their insides and could kill them, I never throw a stick or ball at the beach for my dogs now and I watch them so carefully

    Is there a river we can swim or take a bath? Thanks for sharing

      Leave the campground heading toward the ocean and take a right on reaching the beach. 5-10 minutes walking on hard sand in this direction will get you to the mouth of the Mattole River, where in the warmer months a large sandbar traps the river behind it and forms a lagoon perfect for swimming and bathing depending on the air temp and wind. (This campground is very windy a lot of the time.)

    What does boondock mean?

    • @travelswithtrigger
      @travelswithtrigger  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment. Boondocks generally means not camping in a spot that is an officially designated camping area. This is generally done on public land and randomly selected as suitable. Dispersed camping is sometimes heard as well, however, there are often areas specifically designated for "dispersed camping". These areas don't have specific campsites, you just pick a spot that is suitable to you in that designated area. I hope that is clear, there is just a nuanced difference between dispersed and boondock.
