@@DavidPaulNewtonScott Im looking for a cheap house in Portugal my friend. Let me know if you see any cheap properties. I currently have a leisure 23ft great boats Westerly
Sorry to bother you i need some advice if possible. I'm in the process of buying a Pageant and the owner said the engine has been taking out but the outboards are better so it's not a worry is this true. Yes novice so i apologise in advance
@carlworrall You got just the man on this subject. The only issue with outboards is they are easier to steal. Solution take it indoors. Also remove the mount and fit a mount for a yolu sculling oar. Make a crappy but functional our. Thieves will then assume there is no engine. They will also not want to steal your crappy oar. Take a look at my other boat a Galion 22 from the TV series Howard's Way. Just type into UA-cam enntering limehouse basin. Misspelt with two nns. I motor sailed all the way from Portsmouth under sail and power on tickover. The outboard was a 6.5hp Toyahatsu. A 6.5 hp motor is referred to as a sail drive. On the issue of outboard. Losing the inboard reduces high weight and gives you more space. The key issue with outboards is if it gives you big trouble you toss it in the skip and buy another generic cheap one. Regarding pageants they are built like a tank and can sail anywhere. The boat will take more than you ever will. They are also the ultimate insurance policy against ever being homeless. Drop the mast and she will happily go.on say the grand union canal.
@@DavidPaulNewtonScott You read me like a book, the plan is to bring her down the canal work on her during the winter then back out asap. The only issue was the engine but you have put my mind at ease so thank you. Just going to watch the limehouse basin 👍Thank you for the reply and helping me out
I would never intend on planing but having the v sections of a planing boat on a displacement boat means if you were ever cought by a large wave you could plane down it. An engine would never get it up on the plane but a very steep wave would. There is also another situation where freak weather may cause a mooring in say a river to have the river flowing faster than the hull displacement speed. The boat would then get swamped with the ability to lift up onto the plane no problem. When I ever get round to building a boat to my own design you will see some pretty odd features but they will work. Watch this space. I lost control of my original channel but you can see my old boat which I am in the process of buying back. Just type in the search "enntering Limehouse basin". I misspelt enntering but I left it hat way as the search engine goes straight for it.
I am living in the Philippines at the moment when I left Watchet things were going well for them they had been dredging for months and the place was looking good. I hope they pull it round the local people need a boost in trade to the town.
I was hoping you were coming to the Phillipines with it i would love to have one here.
Like the relaxed commentary. Nice day, nice boat and marina (no wonder, all those people walking by stop and have a good look).
Looks like a nice marina. Thanks for sharing David-Paul (Dad).
Ah that's cute.

A McGregor is about the same size and designed to plane, but you must empty the water ballast first.

Mmm not sure about that type of boat with a planing hull, although many modern racers can and do plane.

Watchet Marina is a mess at the moment. It has been allowed to silt up and the gate is broken. Not sure if this person has any knowledge of sailing.
