  • The standard (and tall) screen for the Moto Guzzi V85 TT causes so much turbulence and wind noise it was becoming quite unbearable. I love the bike, but that was ruining riding it for me so I have done something about it.
    I have fitted a screen deflector to the standard height screen fitted to the Moto Guzzi V85TT and I am really hoping it will sort out the problems.
    In this video I am testing the screen deflector for the first time, it was not set correctly, but future rides will allow me to adjust it to get it working, and hopefully I will be able to start enjoying riding it more as our freedom of movement restrictions are gradually lifted!

    I'm grateful for the tips to fix the niggles so I can have everything ready when my 2021 V85 arrives in a couple months. I'm downsizing from a 2014 1200GS ADV, and watching your videos over the past several months convinced me the V85 is the right choice for my current type of riding.

      No probs mate, am really glad they have helped you make the decision to go MG :-)
      The screen is really the only main thing that annoys me about the bike, but it will affect people differently due to us all being different heights and sizes etc :-)
      I hope you love the bike, the 2021 V85 looks lovely!

    I've had the same problem with every adventure bike I've ever had. The Vstrom's were the worst, and my latest now has a Givi Airflow which cured it completely (adjustable up and down and back and forwards - tilt). It's a shame manufactureres don't pay more attention to it. The Givi has the top shield further forward than the bottom and allows air to flow up through the space and smooth the flow. Seems to work. Cheers - looking forward to your shots with the horizon levelling feature on the 9.

      Sadly the Givi screen for the V85 looks really bad, but I've been able to get an angle with the flip screen to get rid of the buffeting and for spring/summer, the MX number board works a treat 🙂

    Hmmm.... well I can hear when the wind is buffeting on the helmet, but I have to say I'm quite jealous of how clear your audio is in spite of that! I really think my helmet is just very boomy, and I won't be changing that soon, as I can't just throw away $500 worth of gear.
    Like you though, I'll be trying different angles with the screen extention, trying to find that sweet spot.
    Take care mate :)

      I guess I am not used to bikes with screens/fairings. Maybe I expect too much, but a touring bike should be a pleasant environment, so a screen should add to that, not aggravate it. I get a lot cleaner air with the MX number board fitted.
      Helmets are so expensive, and it is better for them to fit well than help with recording audio. I think if you are able to get the gain levels right with yours you'll get a great improvement... I am trying to remember who went the same camera route as you, may be worth asking them how they sorted the audio? I think Phil480 and AndyManCam went Sony

    :) in my case adjusting the tall screen's angle using the tools and trying different settings made quite a difference. I tried 3 different settings (low, mid and tall) and found that the tall one (most forward, rised forwards) removed a lot of buffeting. You could also try riding it with different helmets.

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones  3 роки тому +1

      Cheers for the suggestions Albert. The V85 screen only adjusts the tipping, not the height sadly, but after recording this I did get a better angle from the flip screen which removed the buffeting, although was still a little noisy. The MX number board fixes both for me, but then has no weather protection... it is like I want to have my cake and eat it! :D
