Great idea, very helpful because I'm thinking of something similar for my Fusion. Assuming that you made the height of the box on a level with the folded down rear seats?
Hi Craig, yes the height is at a level to match the seats. I have noticed on one fusion I have seen that the seats were slightly lower due to the seat foam being compressed. From previous use possibly.
Hi this looks fab we have the same vehicle and would love to do something similar, the manual says the roof limit is 25Kg how have you found that with your roof box and solar?
Hi again. What did you use to fix the curtains wire/rope each side to the car ceiling? Was it standard hooks or some sort of special fixing? Also did you take out part of the rear seats or just leave them in place? Thanks for your help.
Hi Martin, I used black tent pole shock cord from Amazon. Clips were small stick-on aluminium hooks from Wilco. Seats were not removed. The point of this camper box is that it can fold up behind the rear seats and you wouldn't know it was there, or you can simply remove it from the vehicle when not in use.
Hi, great video and great conversion! I think about doing the same for my Ford Fusion - do you by any chance have any plans or measurements? I understood in the video that the folding part is somewhat not easy because of some metal/plastic thingy but I didn't quite get, what this thing was - could you maybe explain it?
Hi Martin, it appears to vary with insurance providers (and your country of course) so you would need to check. Most people make theirs removable, so its not in the vehicle all the time.
It's amazing! Can You give me the height (and width) of the camping box? I'm struggling with the designing (for my Fusion) :) And I don't understand an important thing: What is the stanchion/stand for the bed? Thanks!
Hi, I ended up adjusting a number of measurements as I was making this, so I will re-check measurements and write them down. I will put a link to it on here as soon as I get time. Note that some fusions have thicker foam in their upholstery, so you will need to check height when seats are folded down.
@@smokey11a1 Thanks! My (just a plan) box: height 36 cm, width: 60 cm, length: 90 cm. (I'm planning without the passenger seats) Could You tell me what kind of plywood You used? Pine or poplar? And the most important question for me: is it 1,5 cm or 2 cm? Thank You! :)
Did you get the height and width of the box ? I'd love to build a micro camper and also got a Ford Fusion but I´ve never really done such thing. So a little help in how to build the box would be totally awesome !
@@MrKaddixD No I didn't but I built my own one with special dimensions, because mine is for only one person (and I planned it without the rear passenge Ir seats) If You'd like I can give my dimensions , and tips and tricks later (1-2 weeks). But I'm not a pro, it was my first build :) Drop me a message if forget it ;)
Very clever design, well done.
Thanks Yorkshire Wanderer

Thanks for the great video. I have the same car. Do you have a construction pan? Greetings from Germany. Andrea.
Hi, I will have a look. I am moving at the moment, so when I have completed the move I will try and find the measurements.

Hi this is brilliant. Did you have to change your car insurance (ie a "modification") or is it covered by standard insurance? Thanks.

Do you have the dimensions, I have the exact same idea for my fusion
Hi :) Are you in Cornwall now? I've a Ford Fusion too and have been looking for a camper plan. Would love to chat. Boscastle, Cornwall
Hi Lisa, yes I am in Cornwall. The Fusion is suprisingly roomy for its size. I am off camping at the moment. Back soon :)
