I am a bartender at an 800 seat venue in Knoxville, TN and my introduction to Billy was live. I was absolutely blown away. This guy is the real deal. Seldom have I seen talent like this. Marcus King came through the next month and I was blown away all over again. I don't know if I could handle seeing them together live. The UA-cam videos of them are amazing.
This was the one video that introduced me to Billy Strings. It's been well over a year now, and he is by far my favorite musician. I have had the fortune to see him life in Lexington, KY and it was amazing. Billy is revolutionizing the bluegrass world and I am here for it.

There's no such thing as the best guitar player in the world, because there are many genres of music on guitar, but you could argue he's the best bluegrass guitarist.

The thing that amazes me about singers is that they can remember all the lyrics as their singing. I can remember as I'm singing along but to do a whole song to music with no help isn't as easy. Am I alone in that?
Repetition helps... also, there's no shame in having the lyrics printed out. It's like giving a speech that you've prepared - you check the page every now and then. It doesn't really detract from the performance. Whatever helps you is all good.
@@tonyafawnironstone7107 I used to think that way also. But as a practiced playing the song I would also sing the lyrics in my head as I’m watching for chord changes. For me it actually works better when I can see the chord changes and the lyrics. As I practice the song more the more I memorize the lyrics and the chord transitions. It takes practice. Also, for me, hearing the music helps me remember the lyrics. You just have to practice and find a systems that works for you. I use guitar tabs when I’m learning a new song and it’s very helpful.

I use it in my "act" playing at gatherings for family and friends. I now hear Billy's version and have to retool mine . He whips all over me - but I've got a feeling I'm not the only one. Still not sure if his playing inspires me or makes me want to quit.......
I just watched his Turmoil and Tinfoil and I hear the same thing here instead of the regular Man of Constant Sorrow. He was formulating Turmoil even then.
