oh wow, a Lamborghini Countach lp400 Periscopio, you've made my day! I was a 16yr old, in 1971, when a fellow student brought to class, a hardcover book of exotic cars, which included only a quarter page size, black and white, side profile shot and we were just wide mouthed looking at this, "car".
I can't believe how immaculate that luggage is. The exterior color is amazing and the interior is stunning. I was always more of a fan of the muscularity of the LP400S, but this LP400 is just gorgeous. Great video.
So many of the "why it's good", "why it's bad", "why it's worth...", "why it's a pain in the ---" videos do not have the well thought out, well studied, and passion this lady has. Very well done. No, I don't know her, but this is great! I own a 1980 Porsche 930 (owned for 10 years (before they were unexplainably high valued). I love my car and drive the wheels off of it (which I think how these should be driven). The Countach, the Testarossa, and the Porsche 930 were all on my walls as a kid (born 1981)
Somehow it manages to look more modern as well, with the exception of the wheels. Even the interior looks better than the later versions. The whole thing is just more cohesive.
A lil correction: the countach was supposed to have an actual periscope-like gizmo for rear view, but when it didn't work out they ditched it for a classic rearview mirror, yet keeping the recess on the first 150ish... and Countach is not italian, rather piedmontese, the region of Bertone. greetings from Sant'Agata Bolognese
Thank you very much. Memories exploded in my brain ‘cause it was my first auto show back in the day’s because this specific Lamborghini model. Thanks again.
Two clarifications: "Luci di Bosco" means, literally, "Forest Lights"; and "countàcc" is not an italian word, but a word in Piedmontese dialect (indeed, Bertone's coachwork was in Piedmont)... in italian it sounds like "contagio" (in english "contagion"); instead, in Piedmontese dialect, has the same meaning of "damn", or "wow".
The current state of automobile design is so depressing. I wish people still cared about design. Gorgeous car and great presentation. I love the luggage. What a cool addition.
As ALWAYS, your quality and coverage of this LP400 is just as superb as your many other reviews. It is always a pleasure to enjoying your reviews! Thank You!
@@FerrarisOnline The very small, rectangular, rear-view window (in the roof) as well as the very small amount that the driver's and passenger's lower-half windows open have always been intriguing to me.

Hi Coleen! Thank you so very much for posting this very cool and beautifully well done clip of such a stunning and fantastic looking Lambo Countach!! I am so happy like in the sky that I found your youtube channel and ever since then I have enjoyed all of your incredibly cool and informative Italian sports and super sports car videos, also love all the fun facts and detail that you describe about the cars- you and your company truly are an educational and amazing automotive garage and unique wonder of the world😎😀🏁😁👍🏻👏 Also besides for this sleek and gorgeous looking Countach both in and out, I also have a very cool, sleek and just stunning bigger all metal die cast model in my bedroom of the Lamborghini Countach 5000 quatrovalve in black!!!! Original from Lamborghini that I got when I was a teen and ever since then I love Lamborghini’s very much😎😁🏁 anyway cheers from Israel🇮🇱🍷😊
I really enjoyed this video and had never seen the luggage set before. The video was beautifully filmed, well paced and edited and the commentary was clear and articulate. Keep up the good work.
Interesting fact ... In the TVR Griffith ... The Avanti ... and the Countach ... The fiberglass is literally Grafted to tubular steel frames ... The frames can rust within the glass ... I knew of a TVR that was compromised structurally by rust ... If you could drill strategic holes in through the glass and inspect the frame internally you could correct that section ... Rivets and glue "strips" like on the Corvette allow for a separate frame ... This allows for an easier restoration ... Something to think about !!! 😮😮😮 ...
Just found your channel and I love it. very informative and the countach in this video is beautiful. I love the 70's super cars. they have so much character. Having the suitcase kit was awesome!
Thanks Colleen Great content had no idea the Countach was made in 1974, I knew it they sold in the 1980's. Like the sharp edge designs almost like the Faceted F-117 A Stealth Fighter
Colleen, this is probably the most beautiful car you have ever driven and reviewed. Just a pity you didn't show us how you reverse it. That would have made this a perfect video.
Fantastic presentation. Two questions. 1.) What song (soft background music) is used in this video please? 2.) Do you source / find American Muscle cars? In particular a '67 Shelby GT500?
I adore the Countach. Simply adore it. However, these early examples are my least favorite ones. I'm a child of the Eighties, so I prefer the outrageous looks of the LP5000S, and the LP5000QV. Still, I wouldn't pass this car up if it was offered to me. 💙🇮🇹
Correction, the LP400 was not very wide, at only 74.4 inches. A Cadillac Escalade is 82 inches. A Diablo is over 80. The Countach simply gave the illusion of width due to its low, flat styling
I'm a two time Countach owner. I'm saying that it was considered wide in 1975, but not in 2020, which is when the video was recorded. That trivial matter aside, another very good video. I truly wish my cars had been that color. We had a 1964 Ferrari 250 Lusso back in the 60's that was an unusual brownish silver, I cannot recall the Italian name of it
The color of the countach is Luci del Bosco The ferrari color your reffering to is im assuming Marrone which only a hand full of them were painted in. If you have the serial number i can tell you exactly what it was.
@@FerrarisOnline Marrone is just brown, which my old Iso Grifo Can Am was. This was something quite different. The Ferrari factory records say the car was silver, but it actually had a blended color. Typical of the factory at the time to be less than completely detailed. We bought the car here in NYC from a friend and legendary figure named Luigi Chinetti. Youre likely aware of him
Yes we knew luigi and his son., we have gone to italy with chinetti jr a few time and have bought and sold numerous cars to from and with him over the years. If you happen to have the serial number of that car, im somewhat of a nerd 🤓
The correct pronunciation for Countach is Koon-tatch. Not Koon-tash. If you hear Italians like Valentino Balboni say it correctly - Koon-tatch. I met him at a car event he told me he finds it amusing how Americans (and others) pronounce this Italian slang for "Holy Sh*t!" Find any videos of this legendary Lamborghini test driver and you'll see I'm correct.
As great as this design is I wonder if they screwed it up by not realising in time it would need to house more rubber? It looks so much better without the extra wheel arches... although maybe a wide body version could have looked even more awesomer!
Unreasonably beautiful.
Such a radical car design. Even more so today.
My dream car I have a bunch of posters of it when I was a kid . I lv this 1
that colour scheme !!! incredible .... wowowowow
An LP400 Countach in Luci Del Bosco? YES PLEASE! Same color as my GTV6! (BTW luci del bosco means "light of the forest" in Italian.)

That’s definitely a ‘70’s colour scheme. Proves that the Countach isn’t just an ‘80’s car!

The most beautiful Countach I've ever seen. This model is so slick compared to new ones and I love the color, so unique.

The most iconic super car when i was a kid. I have a red metallic Lambo countach at 1/64 scale as a kid and i love it. I wish i never lost it.
Perhaps the best one I've ever seen. Beautiful! WOW!
So good looking without the wing.
This is it. The LP 400. Before the body flares and wing. Perfection!

Fantastic
Stunning example !
Extremely amazing car (and presentation) even after so long, especially in this color.
Grande Marcello Gandini! This car will be a legend forever
I love this version of the Countach
In my view the most important of all super cars. Sadly way out of my price range, but man these are so cool.
The first super car that started it all
Beautiful Countach that was the first design
There are some cars that if truly driven should be exempt from traffic laws, gorgeous car 😁👍
My goodness does it get any better then that.. One of Marcello Gandini’s finest in a stunning color combo, Bellissimo!
One million plus dollar cars now, and very rare. Still iconic.
