Thanks for having an open mind about Wilt. As someone who saw his career, it's great to see a younger person take notice. He was arguably the best scorer, rebounder, shot blocker and playmaker at his position (before Jokic) in league history. Also, the star of the only team to win a championship in the 1960s other than the Celtics. There's a lot of footage out there, mostly from late in his career after serious surgery and after he voluntarily stopped scoring bunches, but more is coming out all the time. I've been following the league since 1963 and, though I don't believe in naming a GOAT, I never saw a better or more dominant player at any position.
@@ToddReacts One other little known fact - centers were slightly taller on average in Wilt's day than now and the average player only about 1/2 inch shorter. The idea that his height explains his dominance is dead wrong.
The biggest thing you need to know about Wilt is that they changed the rules about dunking your free throws because Tex Winter saw him do it in practice perhaps in 1957 after starting from 3 steps behind the circle above the free throw line. He went to the rules committee and told them about it so they voted to outlaw it. Their excuse was that it might allow other players to do the same thing. Yet no other player since then has ever done anything like that. Ever. Jordan and Dr. J did their dunks after runups from beyond half court. Wilt did it in flat sneakers almost 70 years ago.
Yes, and I haven't seen anybody that started the jump with their takeoff foot fully behind the free shot line. May have been one, or two, but I haven't seen any.
Wilt ran the 100 yard dash. Metrics came later here in the U.S. Wilt also played one year with the Harlem Globetrotters during what would have been his senior year in college. I'm 71 years old and I have seen more footage of him here on UA-cam because back in the day radio was the primary means of catching NBA games. ABC televised the Game of the Week. Thanks for sharing, Todd.
I want to suggest "Debunking 5 Myths About Wilt Chamberlain and 60s Basketball" and "10 Craziest Stat Lines of Wilt Chamberlain's Career" as some good Wilt Chamberlain videos that are mindboggling. Great reaction btw, really loved it! :D
I am a Brooklyn and Queens NYC guy. If Wilt walked into the school yard no Lebron Jordan Kobe etc, is picked before Wilt! Also saw him play at the Garden.
Wilt, first 6 seasons, averaged 40 points, 20 plus rebounds, probably 10 plus blocked shots. He was coached, after those 6 seasons, to not concentrate on scoring, but on rebounding, defense and assists, and did. He still averaged 31.1 points per game for his career, which is the second highest, after Jordan at 31.9, I believe. I have seen him, real time, on TV, intercept passes that looked to be over 13 feet high, and take hangers on, up with him, on a dunk. This was kind of late in his prime, a bit after he bulked up to about 280, or so. I wouldn't doubt him getting close to that 50 inch vertical in his young, kind of slim, prime, especially with a good run up. He was a very good high jump and broad jump, track and field athlete, in college.
The most effective offensive center of all time was Kareem. The most dominant modern player, and devastating peak offensive weapon ever was shaq. The most skilled was Hakeem. The most impactful defensive anchor and leader was russell. But THE MOST DOMINANT all around center of all time is WILT CHAMBERLAIN. If ur building a 2k bigman, wilt is who u go with.
Check Kareem's scoring stats for his best consecutive years, against Wilt's best scoring years. Keep in mind that Wilt was coached to slack off on scoring and concentrate on defense, after his first 6 seasons. Even though he won 2 championships, while doing that, I still think it was a mistake to handle it the way the coaches did. His rebounding and shot blocking were the best in the league, even when he was doing all of that scoring.
same thing happeend with jim thorpe, and even worse. jim was likely the overall greatest athlete of all time excelling in almost eery sport imaginable and noone talks about him. although that was 30 or 40 years before wilt. it is sad that wilt gets no mention. it is almost like he is too dominant for peoople to belive. had their been as much footage back than as now, noone would question it
@@ToddReacts same here todd. i always knew he was a guy with every NBA recored imaginable. i just though he was just some incredible sharp shooter orsomething like that for a long time, but then in the past 3 years i looked more into it and was amazed by what i learned. one other guy i love, for a very specific position of a very specific sport, not necessarily the most athetic person ever , but for his position, he was by far the most exciting and best to watch. barry sanders rushing. his moves are unearthly. he is very strong in his thighs, has greeat blance, great vision. and has great leaping ability and fast, but not as versitlie as wilt or jim, but hey, still fun to watch the guy :)
Watch Wilt blocking the sky hook consecutively in one game- the unstoppable shot.

Wilt is the GOAT and the individual stats proves it!

Jordan scored over 50 31 times in his career. Wilt did it 45 times in a season.
Wilt is 7"1' and 310lbs

Actually wilt stopped Kareem's skyhook too. Even after he hurt his knee. 100m wilt said 10.2 100 yd he said 9.9.
Wilt was able to block Kareem's sky hook.
that spot showing 50 oint games, you are not kidding about the distance. if you add up the next 4 on there it is still 22 games behind

False even Kareem says without a doubt Wilt chamberlain is the best scorer of all-time. Wilts also the best passing center

Wilt ran a 4.6 40 correction.
U should go to wilt chamberlain archive on UA-cam
I would reccomend 70'sfan channel for wilt chamberlain highlights, it has the most highlights of that era

Michael Jordan only deflected the questioned after he had stated he was the GOAT, and caught a little blowback.
The first video you reacted to wasnt "Wilt Chamberlain I GOAT", it was "Wilt Chamberlains Insane Athleticism Caught on Film"
