Appreciate the update!! I hope this little park is still doing okay given the challenges with planning and getting the attendance they need.. like you said, hershend has yet to invest in the park, but only remove thus far.. but.. I did not realize deluge was taken out. As long as deep water dive stays then man... KK has one of the most surreal and scariest attraction in the tri state area!
The park has a lot of potential if Herschend does them right, but it could just as easily flop for them if they don’t play their cards right. Unfortunately, it’s been pretty empty every time I’ve been, which isn’t a great sign so far but maybe I just got lucky. But I’m holding out hope, this park has been through a lot over the years and has come back every time
Man, I'm a local there, and my family and I used to go to Kentucky Kingdom a lot. Those days were when these two rides existed; and this was pretty recently too. I loved both of them, and it broke my heart seeing that they got rid of Deluge and T3, and not doing any expansion. Now we've been going to Kings Island as much as we did here since T3 closed.
I’m really hoping Herschend has something planned soon. People can hate on T3 for being rough as much as they want, but it was the largest coaster in the park and their only true looper. It certainly leaves a weird void that makes the park feel kind of empty.
After a recent visit, I received a survey and it asked about my feelings of a family themed area with 2 possible family style coasters. One coaster was similar to Dragonflies and the other was a family mine train style. Also an employee told me within 3 years they would make big changes???
Oh? That actuality sounds really nice if so! A decently themed Wildwood Grove style family area would be perfect for Kentucky Kingdom imo, and while they have Kentucky Flyer, another solid family coaster would do wonders for their ride lineup. Sure hope this happens!
@@CoastingThePlanet You kind find detailed concept art released by hershend of several proposed themed family areas online. All of them are for different areas of the park, but none where T3 stood. Also, as an employee of the park, we get told absolutely nothing about the additions so I have no clue if any of those will be a reality soon, much less within 3 years.
Did Deluge ever reopen before the permanent closure? I remember it being new around 2008 and I think the park shut down for like 6-7 years after that first year, but was always closed after the grand reopening in 2014. Deluge was a really fun ride back when I rode it.
I honestly have no idea. I just know Herschend said it was officially closed permanently after they took over; they never put out a press release or anything, but they said as much at some event presentation you can find on UA-cam somewhere. Unfortunate though, I love ProSlide water coasters
Right next to the T3 plot is Raging Rapids River Ride and Eye of the Storm, which have both been removed from the park's website. Do you think this could mean anything for the park?
if you can get a good shot of the codes on the shipping containers, there are people who know how to look up where they are going. it tells the port, not the final destination
Unfortunately I won’t be back to this park anytime soon, so what’s here is what I’ve got 😅 If this is anyone else’s home park, maybe you all can help out?
Should add that the park is technically owned by the Kentucky State Fair Board. It is operated by Herschend Family Entertainment, who also manage Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. Both top parks--maybe some of that magic will trickle down somehow. It's a terrible location--right on the flight-line for Louisville's airport. It really needs more space, and someone willing to make a major investment.
Theyre likely gonna tear out the stuff that sucks and make way for easy smaller investments to make it feel/look like a Herschend style place, then add a major onvestment or 2
That would be nice. They’ve already started with repainting a lot of the existing buildings, etc. The main problem still imo is the big gaps of empty space (especially near the back of the park) that are just concrete, chain link fence, and piles of junk lol. Makes me feel like I’m in a zombie movie or something
So the only coaster there worth riding anymore is the Chance Rides Lightning Run? Yeah, it's NOT an RMC. It's a Chance Hyper GT-X. The only one in the world. T3 was always pretty brutal, but at least it was a fun inverted. The real superstar was Chang; but Six Flags stole that.
I’d say Storm Chaser is still worth riding. I certainly prefer Lightning run, but I still find Storm Chaser excellent. It does really suck the park has been stripped of all its true loopers though. . .
Hmmmm, I wasn’t familiar with the Pope Lick Monster before this post, but I’m certainly intrigued by the idea of any park theming after a local urban legend; would help give the park identity rooted in the region and could be really cool if themed well. However, I don’t see Herschend doing it as they like to be more “family friendly” sometimes to an annoying degree, and that may be a little darker than they’d like
@@CoastingThePlanet Hate to sound harsh to the people of Herschend, but They'll need to grow up because this park is not just for families, it's for everyone, including thrillseekers and something like this would be very appealing to them. Besides I go by calling it The Floyd Fork Monster instead because that Train Trestle goes over Floyd Fork.
@@themeparkreconnoiter9787 that legend is tied to several real world deaths on that train bridge, I dont think any theme park would want to be associated with that, thill, family, or otherwise.
@@froggyl7472 after I read your comment I've looked at it up and it seems that they've all been strucked by the trains from walking on the tracks ,there where even some that where plowed by the trains while they were on the tracks searching for it. most of them were killed by the trains rather than the creature itself. but it did attack a few people over the years. including a group of men while they were trying to get it on video. So when you hear the media say that the pope lick monster took lives of someone, it doesn't seem true, it happens the same way like what I mentioned to you before.
@@froggyl7472 After reading your response. I've re searched for it on Wikipedia and It appears not a single person was killed by it, so most of the victims were killed from being hit by the trains while they were ignorantly walking on the tracks, especially when they were searching for it above the trestle. But there is a raw video of a group of men that were chased by it when they were trying to catch it on video.

@wrestlingandamusementparkl7789 awesome! Not my home park so, good to hear things seem to be moving forward for when I can make it over again

T3 has been shipped to what we think is going to be Oakwood in the uk 😢
I also believe that it will be going into the space of drenched as that has been standing and not operating for years
What makes you think that?
At least it was saved and not scrapped

Their next coaster to take T2's Place should be a Pope Lick Monster Coaster no matter if it's going to be built by S&S Looper or RMC T-Rex.
