  • Hi guys. This is a bit of footage from my 2nd day of ownership of my 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R.
    Hopefully it can give you an idea of how it goes on the road. Stock tyres (Mitas E07) and the stock exhaust.
    I have since replaced the tyres with a more aggressive Metzler MC360 Mid-Hard combination, and the exhaust with an Akrapovic (De-Cat and DB killers removed). The sound is amazing now.
    Riding with me on the day was Lisa (Beta X-Trainer) and Julian (a French traveller - we loaned him the TE630 for the day and had an awesome dual sport adventure - a good mix of dirt and tar riding). I will edit up the dirt-riding part of the Vlog at another time.
    Hope you enjoy :)

    My 21 690R came with a loud-er expensive exhaust on it, but it had a hesitation off idle and sort of a bog at low revs..................guys said "you need a power commander, you need the open airbox, you need various dongles " To make it run right with that exhaust.
    I put the stick muffler back on and it runs perfect,smooth and fast, wheelies thru 3rd easy.

    Fair play to you, you ride well, certainly better than any girl I have ever seen ride before. Quick but but not unsafe, accurate and with mechanical awareness, rare qualities and great to see.

      Thanks Mark. I'm not the fastest out there, that's for sure. One of my friends races and she is seriously quick on the track. I am tempted to go down that path too - but I fear I'd like it too much and get addicted :) Glad you enjoyed watching the video. I have ridden that stretch of road many, many times so it might make me seem like a better rider than I really am.

    Nice video, just in case you didn't know, Rade Garage have now made a 5.5 litre hidden tank for the 2019 which also includes a much better air filter than the rubbish stock one that lets dust through. Important in OZ where the 250-270 mile range (400+ kms) will come in handy. Unlike previous models you can fill the auxiliary tank without removing the seat. Getting one for my 2019 ER.

I did a short video yesterday, out on the lake, wishing everyone a happy NY :) Hope you're doing well up there!! Will we see you down this way in 2022? Peace and love to you and yours 🤗

    Hi Tori, love your videos, please just few questions if that's ok. How is the bike for a long rides? is it vibrating a lot? Is seat too uncomfy? Thanks, never had ktm considering getting something rally style but concerned about how bike is behaving on paved roads. 👍

      I have 10000km on my 690 now, and while it isn't as comfy as a dedicated adventure touring bike, it is fine for me. I did a 2500km ride in 4 days on it and found it very capable on road. Kept up with bigger bikes and was better when the going got rough n

    Hows the revs at like 110kmh? Real high?

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  3 роки тому +1

      It's not too bad actually. I've done plenty of cruising on dirt roads at speeds similar (and a bit above) 110. It is a single, so it's never going to be as smooth as a twin or multi - but the second counterbalancer really helps.

  • @simplyriding1199

    You mentioned it being “chilly”, just curious, but what’s your definition of it being chilly?

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  5 років тому

      Chilly here is slang for 'cold'. It had rained a bit on the day and I was glad to have heated grips. Not proper cold like you'd experience over in Sweden, that's for sure.

    • @simplyriding1199
      @simplyriding1199 5 років тому

      I figured so. I had heated grips on my previous 1290 super adventure, and I only used them when the temperature got below 4 degrees Celsius. But are the heated grips an aftermarket product or KTMs own?

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  5 років тому

      @@simplyriding1199 Aftermarket. I linked them to another guy in a comment below. Not too expensive and my dealer installed them on the bike before I rode away. You can keep original grips on over the heater element, which is good.

    Have you done a full review vid? Am tossing up between this or a 790. Figure this is lighter, better off-road, a bit taller (good thing) and the tyres are interchangeable with my smaller enduro bike. Cons would be less carrying capacity for thing's like luggage on camping trips, less fuel range, more vibration due to being a single and less wind protection on the open road. What are you're thoughts? Would you want to ride 400km a day on it and still feel your bum and hands?

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  4 роки тому

      Nah, not yet. Though I've spoken about the bike a lot over various vids and have done numerous walk-arounds. I've got 10000km on the bike now and I suppose I should do a 6-month review properly.

    Hi Tori. I have a 2020 690, just coming up to 1000km. I haven't been on a 'dirt' bike for years, sold a Triumph Speed Triple to get this one. Do you have any rattles? I don't know if something is loose, or if it's a ktm/dirt bike thing. Seems to be rev related (doesn't sound like it's in the engine though). Since there's no tacho, it appears at 34km/hr in 1st, 54km/hr 2nd, 66km/hr 3rd. First service is next week, going to see if they can hear/find the source....

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  3 роки тому

      Get them to check the timing chain tensioner? It can be the source of some engine rattles. It's an easy fix.

    • @BikesBoatsBees
      @BikesBoatsBees 3 роки тому

      Thanks Tori. I have had them take a look over the bike. Most of the rattles seem to be in the mirrors! Which is crazy, sounds like it could be coming from anywhere! I think the engine sounds fine. Mirrors are being replaced so I'll see if it helps... probably just get a different set of rattly mirrors.

    • @ToriMoto
      @ToriMoto  3 роки тому +1

      @@BikesBoatsBees get the Double Take enduro mirrors and you'll never look back. I use them on my 690 and they are very easy to fold away when necessary. Very well made, and you connect them to your threaded mirror locations via a RAM MOUNT ball.

    • @Snoozzzzzze
      @Snoozzzzzze 5 років тому +1

      Thank you so much for the reply. Those heaters are available in the UK and pretty inexpensive too, as are the bark-busters. I was thinking about getting the heated bar inserts but this is probably easier. Can I ask, if you have time, here they mounted the switch? Thanks again.

      I prefer the more aggressive throttle and relaxed TC response in Map 2. Map 2 is fine on the pavement . . . if it were REALLY wet or icy conditions I would probably switch to Map 1.
