When I was a child I lived in Sydney Australia. Lionel toy trains were never imported into Australia, but I just loved looking at the advertisements for Lionel trains in the U.S. magazines that my Mother subscribed to.
Enthusiasts used war surplus components to build model trains from scratch. The Sydney Society of Model Engineers, located in Ashfield shared Workshop Resources to create basic compomponents that enabled less skilled people to create their own layouts at home, in a manner that was similar to that shown in your brilliant photo. Thank you for enabling me to recall the experience that resulted in me becoming a Sales Engineer with GE, then Siemens, when they were the Worlds largest Electrical Engineering Companies where a large number of Senior Managers were Model Rail enthusiasts. Phil.

I’m assuming the two “A” units are powered no motors in the two “B” units. There was another’s video posting that had 6 motors two in each “A,B,A” unit Santa Fe engines. His “B” unit was made from 2 “A” units, as he describes. Sharp looking engines you have. They pull the cars around consistently and smoothly even with a lot of over hang on the inside of curves. Very nice, thanks for sharing.

I thought you had two running side by side, mirror, gives the display some depth.
