DK every time I watch one of your videos, I am just in awe! You have sync a beautiful layout. If I had a layout like that, I probably would never come out of the basement.
Hey John. You made me smile. Recently retired, I now have a lot of time to do anything I want. My wife still works so everyday is a vacation day for me. I do spend a lot of time in the basement. However, with the approaching nice weather, l will need to focus on more outdoor stuff. I have another 2 freight videos I am working on right now. 89’ hi-cubes and 86’ auto carriers. One is CSX, the other pulled by Conrail. They should be out in a week or two. Thanks again for the positive enforcement.
I recently purchased a conrail sd40 legacy diesel and some modern freight. I was able to get a couple of the Lionel auto racks but they are hard to find. I am in the process of creating a new layout. My first layout is posted on Lionel fastrack website on UA-cam. I don’t have a lot of room, about 15x8 so I am looking at a around the wall layout with o72 curves. I have the same setup as you, retired with wife still working. I play senior softball still so my train construction will be from time to time, plus lumber prices are outrageous due to the covid. Anyhow great layout, always look forward to your videos.
@@JohnJohnson-wt8zc hello John. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, those Lionel Auto Carriers are tough to find. I plan to post a new video the end of this week that features a CSX freight train with those cars. Please stay tuned. Your space for a layout sounds good. I like an around the wall design. My old layout was exactly like that. I am so glad I purchased and started construction of my current layout 7 years ago. If I had to build it today, not sure it would fill my basement with the price of lumber. Regardless, enjoy your layout build. Between you and me, it is nice to be “retired” when the wife goes off to work!
Hey Don another great video and I dig your research about the El Capitan. Your videos take us back to the time when they graced the railways of United States. Thanks Don, more please.
I love anything regarding the Santa Fe El Capitan and Super Chief - real or model. Where on earth did you get the native American figure at the end of the video?? I gotta get one.
Hello Paul. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I agree those two “named” trains were among the best. The “Chief”. I picked him up years ago at a train show. It may have been an “Artistta” figure. It is metal and painted. I did an internet search for 1:48 scale figures. I saw a couple but I am sure a deeper search will help. Maybe look for western cowboy figures and possibly some native Americans are included too. I hope that helps. The “Chief” gets a lot of attention when visitors notice him. Take care.
Thanks Joe. Out of all my different trains I have and run, I have a special place for the vintage passenger trains, especially the Santa Fe. So classic.
Absolutely superb!! Great layout and the angles on the videos are stunning!!
Thank you very much!
