@Cooking with Bryan. He reminds me so much of Mark Weins another food blogger who travels around the world ( he's half Thai-American, lives in Bangkok), similar mannerisms.
I like the commentaries with depth on taste and texture without influence of the star award and also the majority of fake expression in most VBlog. Keep it up we need more of such review .
i think Michelin is destroying Asian cheap eats.... as far too many examples in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan once they got the star, they believe they've arrived and start cashing in their food and brand... i'd rather people queue up for the quality of the food than queuing up for the star.....
It's not just Michelin. I've seen great family-run operations decline due to attention from newspapers and other award-givers. The thing is tourists want to sample the best and following what has been approved is an easy way to do it. Before traveling anywhere, I check tripadvisor and i make a note not to visit any of those places listed.
Lol what do you mean? The food in the restaurant is not quality?Sorry but it’s the streefood you are queuing up everyday that’s not as quality as the food in the restaurant
I have been waiting for this review and it's finally here! I was in Singapore in late January and visited the main store on Smith St. I really liked the food at Hawker Chan and appreciate that they chop the meat into large chunky pieces. On another occasion, I was in one of the food centres above the Bugis MRT and they cut the meat into paper-thin slices which don't give the same mouth feel and there is nothing to chew on - it was expensive, very small portions and horrible! Thanks for the review Greg.
Nice review, my man. I totally agree with you and can relate, because I ate there recently after avoiding the stall for a couple of years. I think the food is just slightly above average but all considered, including the price point, it is a good hawker centre dining experience. There are so many choices over there so the big turn off for me is the long queue. And btw, that’s how I gobble my noodles too.
Best I've had was at the Manila Franchise. I'm surprised that Singaporeans thought that the quality has lowered. I've never been a fan of soya chicken until Hawker Chan haha. Their cha siu is really great too and they have a vegetable noodle with amazing tasting sauce.
I tried the branch at Paya Lebar a few months back, and standards have fallen drastically. I won't be eating there again. I am wondering if Michelin stars are a good thing for hawker food.
Wow. You actually ordered so much food for one person. Please stay safe in view of the current situation. You tend to place the cutlery onto the tray. Please refrain fm doing so. Most hawkers do not sanitise the trays. Some people do throw used tissues after they are done with their meal.
The 'best' soy sauce chicken I"ve ever had was in the Richmond district of San Francisco. In the US, soy sauce chicken is usually served with a veggie oil condiment (don't know what it's called) that goes well with the chicken.
Bro, love the stalls u reccomend which are pretty famous but sometimes sg needs reminders..People will start to trust your reveiews so if you could start a rating points system.. thats would be awesome easy and great.. Thanks for the great frank eats.. this chicken rice tried and not too impressive
I have been going around trying food, and I realised that 99% of critics tend to be very good in reviewing but when u ask them to come out with the quality that even the chef is dishing out, I believe many cannot even cook an egg properly. Eg if the breast meat is not tender enough, I would like to see how an improvement can be to ensure its tender.
I just found your channel and have already subscribed. Watched a few videos randomly (Old Airport Road Lor Mee, Tian Tian vs Ah Tai Chicken Rice). I am going to enjoy watching the rest.:-) I am not sure whether you had mentioned what I would like to ask but what camera do you use to record your vlog? What editing software do you use? Thanks!
I think most of the people do not know how Michelin works. It is only awarded to the restaurant, not to the chef or branches. So this shop is not a michelin starred eatery.
Yep indeed. The star is attached to the eatery and this stall was the one awarded the star. It was after winning the star that Chan started his other outlets in Singapore and abroad. So this is the actual Michelin-starred place.
Greg, go to Chew Kee on upper Cross St. Between New Bridge and South Bridge. I thought it was great soy chicken, but when I went back I couldn't remember which one I went to?? I think one is a copy-cat? There is a Original Chew Kee eating and a Chew Kee Noodle house?? Clear up my confusion 😁
Oh mann i had high hopes with Hawker Chan. I went to the one at Paya lebar and it was so underwhelming that I might not eat there anymore. Maybe i ahld try the original outlet..
I tried it before the michelin title . Taste pretty Normal and definitely not worth the queue. Maybe the title only states that it's the cheaper michelin but not the taste.
Mmm tried before and for the price, i would say that it is definitely overpriced and overrated. Really nothing special. Perhaps only tourists will patronise it..
I may not be a fan of Soya sauce chicken, my take is his chicken is only tasty when Boss Chan is on duty helping out in the kitchen area and must be peak hour with crowds or I won't step in. That's me
I had it before he got the title . Hmmmm.. nice?? Not now and definitely not 'then' . There is another stall at the same hawker center , it taste alot better .
Over hype Michelin star, since when you see those blog fellow start chirping up video clip telling us where to eat and what to avoid, goodness, sure thy are paid for the work , nothing less
I hope once this Covid-19 nonsense is all behind us that all the older hawkers get up and running again. It would be very sad to see some of the less well-known dishes disappearing before their time. Is the Sg Government helping out hawkers whose businesses are taking a hit?
greg as always love your videos and yes stay safe when all is well look forward to another video. Please consider Boon Tong Kee, When I make to Singapore this year I wanna try it.
Your food channel is my all-time fav! I agree with you having the Roasted Chicken or Char Siew to be eaten with either rice or noodles, WITHOUT any gravy or sauce over it I dare say its better than FoodKing 😬
Doesn't seem to warrant the recognition and fame. Anyway that is just my personal view but definitely won't be on my list of food items when I visit SG as there are so many other delicious food to choose from
We all know it’s not that good if he doesn’t roll his eyes back.
How true lol
Thats his signature reaction & I love it 😜

Totally agree that's why I never bother to eat at these "awarded" food place
Lol what do you mean? The food in the restaurant is not quality?Sorry but it’s the streefood you are queuing up everyday that’s not as quality as the food in the restaurant

One of the best food channels ! ... stay safe Greg!
Thank you! Stay safe too
Definitely one of the most underrated food channel in SG!
Better food channel than the whiny noc and their food king. Criminally underrated
@@porridgeman Whats ur issue with Food King? Each channel is different ... Both Mr Leow and Foodking are equally good in their own way
@@kavissentirmanee Foodking has many problems. From their non objective views (thanks to sponsorships) to being a nuisance in public.
Great video as always. Love the way you describe what you're eating. Please keep making these awesome videos.
Rare to find honest and solid reviews these days. Keep up the good work!
Greg, I saw in the news that Hawker Chan allegedly lost its Michelin Star pride a few days ago.

@keff. Probably best not to give Michelin stars as they get complacent and standards fall
Always nice to see you posting videos! Really enjoy and love your videos! Keep up the awesome work and stay stafe sir!

Hi Greg, can you recommend another stall serving soy sauce chicken which you think is better than hawker chan in the same hawker centre?

I like this, especially the history behind everything.

Hi, I used a canon 80d for earlier vlogs. switched over to a canon m50 about a year (?) ago. I use Final Cut Pro x. thanks for watching!
Gregory Leow Thank you for your prompt response! Keep up the good work! 👍🏻😊 Happy holiday!
What is the store in Jewel which also have a Michelin Star who is a rip off? $30 for half a chicken and also noodle.
Lol what are the random clips at the start of your videos?
I wish I could find your channel before pandemic...hopefully can visit Spore next year...new sub here...:)
04:23 Cute "take" to camera deftly inter-cut. Irene taking GL's order ..... startled but handled it. :-)

Greg - what is your opinion on where to get the best soy sauce chicken in singapore?
Try fragrant chicken also in the same fc. It’s my go to. You might like it too
They used to serve a herbalish tasting soup designed to cut through the strong flavour
u should try Havelock Cooked Food Centre roasted pork. its better than chinatown one.
My favorite SG food channel
Bro...................Nice video....Take care.................
Thanks ✌️
Thank you for entertaining me during quarantine in the USA. Good to see the flavors of motherland.
Glad you enjoyed it
Come to Yishun Gregory! There are quite a good number of food places for you to explore, taste and comment.
I am supposed to come back to sgp to renew my docs, the freaking virus ruined all my plans, guessed I will have to wait a little longer.
Got a Long video upcoming on that. Soon soon
Hi Amazings telling the🤣 chicken taste o my favourite mee also😁👍🏻 Thankyou 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh mann i had high hopes with Hawker Chan. I went to the one at Paya lebar and it was so underwhelming that I might not eat there anymore. Maybe i ahld try the original outlet..
Greg, please do top 5 dishes to eat in Singapore.
I tried it before the michelin title . Taste pretty Normal and definitely not worth the queue.
Maybe the title only states that it's the cheaper michelin but not the taste.
Char Siew is the star here. The chicken is so-so only
Honestly awarding this place made michelin star abit worthless.
You should write a book, Greg!
It can be rediculous sweet at time.
The quality is so inconsistent. Sometimes good and sometime bad.
Stay safe it looks good and yummy
Mmm tried before and for the price, i would say that it is definitely overpriced and overrated. Really nothing special. Perhaps only tourists will patronise it..
I ate from this Michelin stall when it was $2 a plate b4 stall was discovered.. hehe
I may not be a fan of Soya sauce chicken, my take is his chicken is only tasty when Boss Chan is on duty helping out in the kitchen area and must be peak hour with crowds or I won't step in. That's me

There is another stall at the same hawker center , it taste alot better .
Over hype Michelin star, since when you see those blog fellow start chirping up video clip telling us where to eat and what to avoid, goodness, sure thy are paid for the work , nothing less
Hi Greg, how does the self-quarantine affect the hawkers? I imagine this will hit them pretty hard.
I hope once this Covid-19 nonsense is all behind us that all the older hawkers get up and running again. It would be very sad to see some of the less well-known dishes disappearing before their time. Is the Sg Government helping out hawkers whose businesses are taking a hit?
It’s rubbish when the franchise opened in Melbourne, it’s worse than any hawker stall in Singapore
I totally agree! Was in Melbourne last year and wanted to see what a Michelin rated soy sauce chicken taste like and was left disappointed.
Greg, you were trying to be as nice as possible in this video. hahaha
CB is ending, i miss ur videos
Standard drop I would not go and eat again Best 2 stall soya black chicken is along Cross Street
greg as always love your videos and yes stay safe when all is well look forward to another video. Please consider Boon Tong Kee, When I make to Singapore this year I wanna try it.
Can see not many people at the food centre, maybe due to the virus situation...
Your food channel is my all-time fav!
I agree with you having the Roasted Chicken or Char Siew to be eaten with either rice or noodles, WITHOUT any gravy or sauce over it
I dare say its better than FoodKing 😬

Why not Kyrgyzstan, that's right next to China
Thanks Greg! Hawker Chan is definitely overrated! I respect your 'restrained' candour, hahaha:)
Doesn't seem to warrant the recognition and fame. Anyway that is just my personal view but definitely won't be on my list of food items when I visit SG as there are so many other delicious food to choose from
This stall deserve rateing not like tian tian! They bbq pork is ok not chicken
You're back, yay.
looking a bit greyer.
It's unavoidable
Get back to R&B accompianment, please.
Other award winning now overrate stall
Way way overated. Tried it once before the Michelin crap. Very average.....
Their char siew is better.... the chicken is pretty bland to me
it's just average now. but tourist like it. haha
Nothing special at all from other stall. Just average
I tried once before.....overrated and never return
So so only... What Michelin, rubbish...
