- Warning: distressing content. Letby has been convicted of murdering seven babies and trying to kill six more.
Watch live as Lucy Letby is sentenced on Monday, 21 August, for murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six more while working at the Countess of Chester Hospital neonatal unit between 2015-2016.
The most prolific child serial killer in modern British history is expected to face the rest of her life behind bars.
Letby, 33, could be given a whole-life order, which is the most severe punishment available in the UK criminal justice system for those who commit the most serious crimes.
Mr Justice Goss will read out the sentencing at Manchester Crown Court.
Letby previously indicated that she did not intend to take part in her sentencing hearing and would not follow the proceedings via video-link from prison.
Robert Buckland called for the sentencing to be played into the Letby’s cell if chose not to attend the sentencing.
The former justice secretary said Letby should have to listen to the victim statements from the families of the babies she murdered.
“Impact statements that will really bring home I think, to the wider world, the appalling devastating impact of the loss of these innocent children,” Mr Buckland told GB News.

This is the worst thing I've ever heard. The pain those little angels endured, so precious, so utterly perfect, it hurts my heart. She shiukd have been shackled tpday and gagged and hauled into that court room.
Just horrible, the babies murdered in the most painful way imaginable. As a father with a young son, i feel so lucky
Monster......
She denied everything but the evidence is too obvious and too strong. She was never gonna be found innocent.
Horrible woman why what goes through her head to do something like that
Stange that since her arrest, the 'mysterious' deaths have stopped yet she claims she's innocent..
It's deeply troubling that someone given trust could inflict such sorrow. Holding the affected families in my thoughts; may this verdict help them find a path to peace.🙏

"Life is a train with no return journey. From a small bed when we were born to a small box when we leave the world, we can take nothing away. What we enjoy is just a process. In this process, nothing can be kept. Therefore, we must learn to overcome troubles and abandon attachments. In this world, we need to be enlightened from the heart, to change ourselves, to see through quickly, and to be enlightened. Many people can't let go of their attachments throughout their lives: "This is mine, that's mine." In the end, there is nothing left. To overcome your own desires, you will not regret tomorrow." - Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Master Lu
He said 7 murders and 7 attempted murders when in fact it was 6 attempted murders. Really hoping she can’t use that on appeal.
I believe it was attempted murders on 6 babies, however one of them she made 2 attempts, hence the 7
@@andyh3873Two attempts on the same baby? Horrid. This case is the worst case I've heard of in years. I hope she has a very short life in prison.
Should of dragged the animal to the dock. I can’t believe they allowed her to sit in the cells when the judge passed sentence
what I'm wondering about is the experience of white middle-class people in prison............if we look at the case of Richard Huckle - he was tortured to death in his prison cell in HMP Full Sutton - so what will be the experience of Lucy Letby in prison, what will she do and how long will she survive?
Glad she got life in prison she can't hurt anymore babies she's evil and a coward...
She won't do life she will be got at before then I'm sure. Or do herself in. Vile woman. Them poor babies.
@@ilovecats1472she got a whole life order that means she ain’t ever coming home don’t u read
@@safffshah9455 yes I can read can you? In prison she will be got out probably killed. may do her self in. Do you understand what I'm saying. Obviously if she's dead she won't have done her life sentence.
She never got life in prison. She got WHOLE Life meaning she will be in prison for her whole life. Listen again, he said it many times.
@@drrd4127 life is life...
Something seems very 'off' to me about this. Im not saying shes innocent but something doesnt sit right with me about this case.
I’m thinking that??
How so?
@@cerburrows9380 that's the thing, I can't quite put my finger on it but something isn't right about all of this. I will study more of the evidence, and I'm sure more details of this case will emerge soon, perhaps there's things the media hasn't been allowed to tell us during the trial but, my gut tells me there's more to this.
The hospital management ensuring that she stayed working even when medical consultants pushed for her to be dismissed certainly doesn’t sit right with me. I think they should also be investigated and charged with manslaughter if it’s found that their actions enabled Letby to kill more babies
Lucy Letby is ‘OFF’ and she’ll rot in prison until she’s carried out in a box.
I think she's innocent.
Why do u think she's innocent??
She’s certainly not innocent, but there is certainly some failures from the very top.
Thank god you weren't on the jury
What part of filling up babies with gas and insulin screams “innocent” to you, people like you should be locked up with her. Freak.
@@II-ei4rk you don't even know what the evidence is
