There used to be a girl at a dance club I went to, She wore a built up shoe and an old style metal and leather brace. She had a limp but that didnt stop her from going out and dancing. She took them off once..and her foot hung straight down
I got blisters on the ball of the foot wearing dynamic walk AFO. I have brain and spinal cord injury, my left quadriceps and my hip is weak, I can't run. I have drop foot ( peroneal paralysis).I've been wearing classic plastic AFO for 12 years. I also tried FES (functional electrical stimulation) but every 3 months it got broken or something didn't work, so I had to sent it to the tehnican, at the end I was tired of repairing it and I gave up. I bought this DW AFO but now i have blisters on the ball of the foot and on my toes. Anybody else with this problem? What to do? I'm thinking about gluing some fabric or textile on the footplate, maybe that'll help. But I'm afraid it will reduce the function of dynamic walk AFO. Any sugestions? Please help
Conceptually it is a valid product for the "pure" falling foot (isolated deficit of the dorsal flexion): it acts as a spring to lift the foot, pre-loaded by the weight of the person (in fact without the foot inside, the brace has a smaller angle of 90 °), but fully allows active plantar flexion movement allowing greater functionality (eg driving) and physiological movement compared to other systems that use rigid cords to keep the foot raised, but which prevent plantar flexion. Unfortunately in Italy I struggle to find a store where to try it (and given the cost, you can not buy it without trying it).
@mrmetalfarmer Ok mate,I have foot drop.I got some of these through my hospital physio.after she referred me to the orthotics department. He reckons that they costs around £350.00 each, but they came free through the NHS.They are spot on.Any questions, give us a shout.
i m servive polio injurd in my left leg, i need afo. i m from bangladesh in asia. i m poor man,, how much cost i need this. i wante this afo.. please help me
this brace is a very good brace however, it will allow hyperextension of the knee. if you have very weak quadriceps, then maybe an allard toe off afo would function better for you. not to take anything away from this product because it does work!
