Your vlogs are not rubbish, as you say!!! That is why you are growing! It's because you two are just being you, and let us all into a part of your life. I always look forward to a new notification of a new vlog! Can't wait for the pub one, once they finally open again......
Are you are 10,000 or 100,000 because you have 100,000 in your pinned comment.... Beside all that really nice to see Rich up and about. PS I remember right at the start watching Fran walking the dogs down the side of a field next to a hedgerow talking about buying your boat. Yes I have been around since the start and love watching your channel
Hi Trev. Definitely not 100,000. Rich has corrected that now. I think it was all going to his head a bit. Thank you for sticking with us from the beginning xx
@@FloatingOurBoat It made me smile, and that's what it is all about. Being a bit of a numbers person, it jumped out at me straight away. I will always be subscribed, love watching you guys, down to earth, say it as it is, not trying to get viewers through drama, just straight up videoing.
You guys, Foxes Afloat and Cruising the Cut really are the 'Go To' Vlogers for me. Your content is interesting and amusing, you all are very professional with your presentation plus you're all good buggers! Inviting people into your lives, as you have, means that we all very much feel like we know you and have an interest in your well being. I'm Dairy Farming in New Zealand, you're living on a narrow boat in England, UA-cam allows us to enjoy and experience a completely different life style and environment. Keep it up you two, take care. Cheers.
Hi Craig. Thank you for your lovely message. Maybe you should start a UA-cam channel on dairy farming in New Zealand. We would definitely find it interesting xxx
@@FloatingOurBoat Cheers Fran. Maybe I should. I also fly a Convair 580 between NZ and the Chatham Islands and NZ to Norfolk Island. Internal night freight between Auckland and Christchurch as well as Metroliner aircraft all over NZ. UA-cam Air Chathams and check it out. Keep well. xx
If you get stung by a nettle there is always a dock leaf nearby and if you rub that on the sting it takes away the pain...(you may already know this 😊)
Fran, when we were kids we used to pick nettle leave by pinching then between finger and thumb in the middle of the leaf away from the stingy edges. Once picked then usually don’t sting. A slow and accurate attack works better than a quick snappy grabby attack. Give it a go and let me know if it works for you :-)
It's NOT rubbish! Well done on 10K, well deserved. Your videos at this trying time, are a balm to the soul, I've been watching some of your earlier ones, to help pass the time. Julia.
Hi to you both. You're looking so much better Rich, thank goodness. Good that you're such a go-ahead couple, able to forage, especially when veg is in short supply, to obtain the nutrients needed. I'm enjoying the virtual journeys and banter, with curry and nettle pasties along the way..nice one. Reminds me of my own boating adventures. I was supposed to be coming back to the UK in April for 2 to 3 months.....on the back burner now of course. Support and ideas of others proved to be invaluable to me when I was going through the mill, so I'm glad if you've found some of them useful too. Take care, love and best wishes from India. ✨🙏💖☀️🏵️✨
Delighted to see Rich doing so much better. Fran, you stay well and keep that lad in line! Rich needs to give you a good warm shoulder rub! Congrats on the 10k!!!
Being a know all after boating since 1995, Fran, at 7.09 you step off the boat and to slow the boat you wrap the rope around your hand and pull. Doing this under other circumstances with 20T of boat it would crush your hand. This is bad practice as we used to say in Health and safety meetings years ago at work. You were stood by a bollard, the correct and safe way is to take one turn around the bollard and ease the pull on the rope to slow / control the boat. Sorry if this rubs you up the wrong way ,I'm just trying to pass on years of boating experience. Stay safe.
being a know all sailing since the 70's I will second that... never ever wrap a rope around your hand nor pull on a boat that weighs more than you do... always use the friction of the rope against a cleat or bollard (or strapping post on canal). I've seen people pulled into the water or crush their knuckles so badly they cant grip properly for days.
I would suggest using the engine to slow the boat to a stop, rather than pulling on the rope. Certainly this is what was taught on the RYA helmsman course. I think it does mean you are in control, rather than the boat! Willow Wren have a couple of videos on this: ua-cam.com/video/rsCCI-eOiIk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/uebz3C6j7Ak/v-deo.html
Why are you surprised, you are wonderful, kind, intelligent people. I've been following since the beginning and you never disappoint. Glad to see Rich up and about and obviously feeling better. Fran, I have two color books on L.S. Lowry and would love to send one to you. Is that possible? Jane, Philadelphia
Congrats guys on the 10K.... Well deserved it is to.... Glad to see Rich is on the mend....Fran please please mind the comments about rope work.... Your present technique is going to land you in the water or emergency room... Please take care... You guys keep safe.... And thanks for living my dream....

Goodness I so glad you go through that one Rich, and Fran, you weren't even touched! Our middle daughter got the dreaded lurgy 1 week before last Christmas. So all our celebrations were scuppered. Hope this winter is kind. Good health.
I do admire your resourcefulness. Can we have more foraging hints please? The cooking hints are great too. Loved those little bird feeders you made a few vlogs back.
Congratulations on 10K. Part of why we watch aside from the wonderful videos is your personalities draw us in to your wonderful experience whether relaxing or showing us the more difficult part. Thanks. Btw any history behind the red brick country house would be appreciated.
All I can remember about the house is that when the canal was built, it crossed their land and in exchange for allowing the construction the owners insisted on an ornamental fence being put up alongside the canal to improve the view from the house, and the fence is still there.
I feel your pain, Fran. Could not pull up my pants either! Even had pain as I raised my wine glass for a toast New Year’s Eve!! After trying cortisone shots with little results, Dr sent me to a physical therapist. Much, Much better, but MUST keep up the simple exercise routine 4 yrs later to keep limber! Was told it was the rotator cuff. My favorite exercise (which was painful when I started it 4 yrs ago) is to use stick or hiking stick and holding it out front of your body with both hands raise stick overhead, hold 3 secs, lower out front again. Stick keeps your arm straight and good shoulder helps support bad shoulder in exercise. A couple of other ones too I could share, but I still do this one everyday to keep the shoulder limber and lubricated. 👍Good luck❤️
Hi from Australia I went back to the beginning and have been watching all your videos and are thoroughly enjoying them I have always been fascinated by your canals. Thanks for sharing and stay safe 👍👏
Hey what’s going on you guys glad to see you are getting better that’s awesome...Little at a time Ritch Stay healthy my friend’s stay safe...👍👍👍❤️❤️🙏☮️☀️✌️p.s. hey I love you guys 😊
We’ll done to you both. Lovely channel, your helping to keep us sane in the lockdown. Hope you haven’t had too many problems with busy tow paths and are managing to get supplies. Stay safe👍🙂
The towpath has been quite busy, but everybody needs the fresh. We have actually put our planters alongside the boat to give us a little distance, but it is a fairly wide oath here. Most people are being considerate
Hi Rich and Fran, well I guess you might have to employ a secretary to look after your numbers. must take hours reading your support. Great show again and glad you have got the batteries done,. John .. NZ
Well done with your subscribers, yes I have going through all your trips ! Thanks guys . Hopefully you will enjoy our part of the world we live close to marple on the peak forest canal ,
Hi Rich@Fran Congrats on reaching 10;000 viewers not surprised great video to watch Hope you are both ok you looking a lot better than last video rich Keep the videos coming

Well done guys with the 10K. Well deserved❤️ I remember the fist time we used nettles I was convinced they were going to have a laxative effect😳 but they didn't, curry looked nice by the way Fran. 😱Thats one hell of a to do list, I thought mine was long but Rich's is much longer ( just read that back, sounded a bit weird😂)
Congratulations on the number of subscribers. Spent many hours around the Maccasfield canal so loved the memories. Currently self isolating at my home in Tasmania supported by great family, neighbours and local business. Glad to see you both looking so well.
We are so glad you both are well at this point. What a scare you had!. ...We even watch the UA-cam Ads, just for Floating Our Boat! (adds often are repetitive and terrible, yet we endure because we know there is revenue.
Hi Fran & Rich hope you are both well and hope that Rich is feeling a lot better and fully recovered from his illness, I wont say the word on you tube as its a banned word from what ive heard, sending you both love take care stay safe
That was a great video. I shivered when Rich said I can’t stop touching my face! He should be on the public information commercial. 10k subscribers, that’s fantastic but I think you should have lots more. Hopefully now, UA-cam will circulate your videos to a wider audience. I’m glad Fran is enjoying watching Kate at the last homely house. I have her calendar hanging in my kitchen but I would prefer to have yours! You have some fabulous photography in your videos and I’m sure your subscribers would love a floating our boat calendar in 2021. She’s expanded her shop to include other crafts people and maybe you could look to do something similar with canal crafts people. I know you’re limited for space but maybe you could pick up some ideas from her. She did some Christmas boxes and they sold in a flash, and they were £100! Maybe you’re not that interested in that type of venture but I think she’s got a good balance between UA-cam and crafty sales. If you needed help with land based logistics I would be happy to help. Great to see Chris helping you out. I also love Chris and She’ll. I hope Rich is getting better and I hope Fran’s shoulder isn’t giving her too much trouble and that you did avoid covid 19. Take care and thanks for sharing.
Hi Sylvia. Thanks for your comment and for being with us right from the early days. Rich is still coughing well, but on the men and miraculously I am still clear. I will look at Kate's shop, to be honest i didn't know she did that and I'm vet interested. We obviously still need an income so I may well be interested in expanding our sales. Thanks for the offer of help. I will certainly bear that in mind. We really hope you're both well Fran x
Floating Our Boat Yes, I remember your very first video from your old house! I wonder how boatman Ben is doing these days. If you get time look at Kate’s videos of her Christmas box she really has the ability to hook viewers! Also her patreon levels are interesting. She is obviously a craft based channel when you and Rich are arty and crafty on a NB channel but I’m sure you could get some ideas. I hope your house sale is still on track, what with flooding and pandemics you really have had some challenges. Take care and good luck. 😁x
Doing well with your subscribers well done, it's so good to see you have got over your scare. I have told my misses that she should look for nettles so we can put it in our Currys, thanks for the tip. Just a matter of getting foot and shoulder good the warm weather will sort that. Good luck with all you do. Regards Paul osman
I enjoy your vlogs very much! I love all the work you have done on Constanze. My dream would be to retire and by her when your new boat is ready! ❤️ And Fran, I have taken notes on your foraging information. Currently we only forage local mushrooms but I look forward to trying nettles this spring.
Wow Congratulations on your 10k+ subs. I can understand why people enjoy your banter and your humor. Rich is sounding like he is getting on top if the "thing". Cheers from downunder. 🇦🇺
hi im soooo happy to see Rich is doing so well its amazing news im very happy for you both please stay safe and hopefully this time next year youll have 20k subscribers
Have you ever looked at solar showers? . My friend lives in a van. He has 7 solar shower bags . Each time he's at a water point ( service station) . He fills them up and stores them . They don't take up a lot of space. He then leaves them out in the sun when he needs a them for a few hours. Then they're hanged in his van for a 6 minute shower.
Nettles sting even when you grab them fast or not. The idea is to take them from beneath and make sure your hands are moving along with the stinging hairs. So always move your hand from the root and upwards. Avoid the first part of the stem, as the hairs are completely upright there!!!
Keep it up You seem a lovely couple doing what a lot of people would like to do. Will keep watching, keep smiling nice to watch anytime. Want one myself ..
well done guys, spotted you on this stretch, blamed you for me being on a hire boat, we were lucky when we returned it the world shut down, thanks to Fran for sticking her head out and saying hello. Stay safe.
When we lived in the Shetland Islands we used to eat stinging nettles. A good iron-rich substitute for spinach. The nettles grew lushly around the cover of our septic tank.
Here you say you got 10,000, and now you've had 1 million. I'm getting through the past, to catch up. Thanks you keep me sane - In my motorhome.. we are grounded. My husband is going through chemo just listening to Fran with her sore shoulder. Try a chiropractor. Mine was fixed after years of pain. I feel sorry for you, it's really painful.
Hi Marion, sorry to hear about your husband, but thank you so much for watching our little videos in your motorhome. My shoulder is fine now after about 8 months of exercises and physio. It was one of the most painful things I have experiences.
Hi guys. I'm so glad Rich has made a good recovery. I was worried for the old boy. Hope you managed to avoid it, Fran. Congratulations again, on the 10,000 subs. All the best, and take care. Now I'm going to watch the vid.
Congratulations on reaching 10,000. I'm not surprised by that number, surprised it isn't a lot higher. As usual, nice relaxed yet informative vlog, thank you. Cheers.
Did you know that stingy nettles are good after boiling them put them in a bucket and they are great for psoriasis, my mum made some for her friend once who had this all over her feet and she soaked her feet in the bucket for a little while and the Psoriasis was gone never had a problem again.
Fran I thought the taste would never leave my mouth. I actually was hoping it would taste good. But I really prefer the berries and hope I have a bumper crop again this year. Be safe!
You're videos are NOT rubbish. They are a right good laugh. Great to see you looking better Rich.

Thanks Paul. Any relation to Richard Osman? 😀
At last ! Someone else who puts nettles in the curry . I enjoy your wild plant inclusions.
Thank you
I enjoy your vlogs very much! I love all the work you have done on Constanze.
My dream would be to retire and by her when your new boat is ready! ❤️
And Fran, I have taken notes on your foraging information. Currently we only forage local mushrooms but I look forward to trying nettles this spring.
C’est merveilleux de vous voir en pleine forme. 👍🏼🌞👍🏼
Merci beaucoup Francois. Nous Somme beaucoup mieux. Xx

Congrats on reaching 10,000 subscribers . We are happy to see Richard is doing well . Maybe we can get a little tune out of him now lol.
Oh No! Don't encourage him! 😁
That's s good idea. We'll have s look.x
it's ALL down to the strong lady .
Nettles sting even when you grab them fast or not. The idea is to take them from beneath and make sure your hands are moving along with the stinging hairs. So always move your hand from the root and upwards. Avoid the first part of the stem, as the hairs are completely upright there!!!
Keep it up
You seem a lovely couple doing what a lot of people would like to do.
Will keep watching, keep smiling nice to watch anytime.
Want one myself ..
Thank you Mark
Another great share of your lives! Fran, you need to sew the holes in his pockets ;) Take care!
Very heartwarming to see you both well ."The love you take is equal to the love you make"...Be safe! you are much appreciated.
well done guys, spotted you on this stretch, blamed you for me being on a hire boat, we were lucky when we returned it the world shut down, thanks to Fran for sticking her head out and saying hello. Stay safe.
Hi, we remember seeing you. Glad you managed to get your trip in when you could xx
Brilliant and you're feeling better too❤
Your electrician did a good job and it’s so much neater. Well done on 10k well deserved
When we lived in the Shetland Islands we used to eat stinging nettles. A good iron-rich substitute for spinach. The nettles grew lushly around the cover of our septic tank.
Ah, they love the rich soil!!
PS use your bag to pick nettles, like you would pick up a dog poo!haha
Hi Marion, sorry to hear about your husband, but thank you so much for watching our little videos in your motorhome. My shoulder is fine now after about 8 months of exercises and physio. It was one of the most painful things I have experiences.
10,300 already... cool!
Hi guys.
I'm so glad Rich has made a good recovery. I was worried for the old boy. Hope you managed to avoid it, Fran.
Congratulations again, on the 10,000 subs.
All the best, and take care.
Now I'm going to watch the vid.
SarkyBugger amen

Congratulations on reaching 10,000. I'm not surprised by that number, surprised it isn't a lot higher.
As usual, nice relaxed yet informative vlog, thank you. Cheers.
Did you know that stingy nettles are good after boiling them put them in a bucket and they are great for psoriasis, my mum made some for her friend once who had this all over her feet and she soaked her feet in the bucket for a little while and the Psoriasis was gone never had a problem again.
I enjoyed this video. Congratulations on the 60k. Shame about the reason Chris had to stand off. But respect to him going out of his way to help you.
60k!!! Fran and Rich would be over the moon.
Chris is a great guy, we would have been a bit stuck without him. It's a shame it isn't 60000 😂
❤ foraging for nettles! I bet it was good in the curry

Philistine!

Fran I thought the taste would never leave my mouth. I actually was hoping it would taste good. But I really prefer the berries and hope I have a bumper crop again this year. Be safe!
Well done on your 10K you deserve it.
