Allen Parsons is a genius. He didn't get where he is today without his great knowledge and Love of music. He is a God of music. He's not even close to being scary . What's wrong with people. It's so immature to even say your scared of him. He's a very Nice looking man. With impeccable talent. I'm thankful he's on this earth.
well said Darlene Eck I sort of always thought Alan Parsons looks like a bad a s s guy but he sure is talented I certainly enjoy his music he does have a lot to offer
This man is a multi talented Genius, his impecable attention to detail and knowledge of sound and enginering of music puts him ahead of the rest. a True Rock genius.
Totally agree. But, don't forget just how humble the man is. A genius with an ego is annoying but highly respected (Einstein). But, a genius with humility is a treasure and a gift to humanity.
I can't believe I've just now come across this page... I'm one of those "Audiophiles" that is always looking for the perfect recordings to play thru my over priced system... but reality is, more important than any system is how good that recording is... and behind that is the engineer and producer.. Alan being a prime example of the best of the best.
Wow! What can you not love about Alan Parsons? Engineer/producer/singer/musician/host-voice over/genuine nice guy (everyone I've seen who has met him says he's a great guy)...and he has cats, dogs, chickens and a Clydesdale at his home with his family!
The guy knows his stuff when it comes to all aspects of recording and being a sound engineer.. on a side note, did anyone notice this, he does sound a lot like David Gilmour not only when he sings, but also when he speaks?
This is a great introduction to Alan Parsons as well. I didn't know he'd contributed to many of the tracks that influenced me in my songs, recordings and productions. Thank you Alan.
His lineage is very rich with music study and history, theater, etc. I believe nature and nurture in the formative years shaped him. He has taken the baton into the future. He is blessed. My hat is off to creative individuals.
this is outstanding. I hope many beginning and emerging record producers pick this up and study it. It opens insight and education for new emerging producers.
Can not thank you enough for your marvelous recording and special sound effect on Dark Side of the moon album. This is a true Masterpiece both musically and technically and the sound is so open and dynamic.
❤great to see all journey in such short episode .. Psycho acoustic study with natural listening process in nature. Trying to get record the sound waves as it like to listen in actual performance ❤ The electronic technology, transperant sounding equipments, Speakers, signals handling without clipping in full path, new topic speaker clipping (spider mechanichal resistance) Dynamics handling through out path. Loudness war, Speaker placement and room acoustic ❤❤❤waiting...
Seems like there are at least a dozen behind-the-scenes movies about people like A. Parsons working with some of the great albums. Like that M. Jackson documentary Thriller 25.
This a great summary of the history of sound recording, all in less than 10 minutes. The sixties were a great time for the development of recording techniques. I still have Alan's Eye in the Sky and Sirius on my iPhone. A couple of years ago, I rebuilt an Edison Cylinder Phonograph and made a short video on it. Restoration- Edison Fireside Phonograph (1911) plays again. ua-cam.com/video/W1CHMPbnW1g/v-deo.html
He didn't mention Edouard Leon Scott De Martinville he was the one that first took a cylinder and a sheet covered with soot and discovered that sound waves were traveling through the air
+Jam Mack He was the first to physically imprint sound waves, but they were never intended to be played back. It was only through digital technology that they could be reproduced, albeit a century and a half later. This is why Edison gets the credit, since he developed a method for the actual reproduction of sound, while Martinville's invention only transcribed it.
Anyone else find it kind of odd/funny that the music at 1:54 is supposed to sound LIKE "Sirius," even though Alan Parsons himself is hosting the video? (I mean, I guess he's got to get permission from a few other rightsholders, Eric Woolfsen, among others, but still)
i'm a hifi audiophile and looking for the best recorded "Best of CD" i throw away poor recorded music cd's...please help me select...not interested in 11 different albums collection...just the best most popular songs on one or two cd that has a great recording...poor recordings and a lot of remastering stuff out there is junk...
wire recording was done a few years before tape it was a small gauge wire on a reel to reel about 4 years before magnetic tape i understand thomas edision invented this machine i have one
And all of this amazing technological achievement, the abilities, the equipment, the capturing, the reproduction, 20 to 20000 Hertz in almost that reciprocal of time! All wasted on a bunch of idiotic morons that think rap is music and a chord is something you use to close the drapes.
all of the studio people should simply visit more live concerts to know how the music originally sounds!!! most of the old "60-"70 sound much better than all this complex over-edited "all-sounds-equal" modern shit.
Fans all started stealing music. Paying musicians NOTHING for their work. Not good! And so what did the musicians all do? Keep on recording new music for the fans to get for free on the Internet. "If you don't give us all your music for free, we'll just go steal it anyway" is the new business model. NO PAY POLICY fans now expect the same quality music from ZERO BUDGET. Yes they actually think Alan will work to provide another 'Dark side of the moon' and then not get paid! Great business model! When I approached and gained the support from many people in the BEATLES camp twelve years ago I was trying to build a brand new Platform OWNED AND CONTROLLED by the musicians. The current business model is badly broken and working for free is not a business most smart people would go into! But HUNDREDS of millions of Hobbyists now think they can become Alan Parsons, LOL! My last few albums I worked with both Ian Bairnson and Chris Thompson from APP. And they both expected me to PAY THEM at the end of the session, LOL! And my last release was Uploaded to Illegal sites the WEEK BEFORE release date. People all enjoying Ian's wonderful solos but not paying me ONE DIME to help pay for Ian's skills! Yep. they all think this is fair! My friends in the Beatles camp know that GREAT MUSIC costs money! And FREE MUSIC is also NO BUDGET MUSIC. Not exactly good for helping future generations of musicians make QUALITY MUSIC! Is there a SOLUTION? Well, people like Alan Parsons need to DO SOMETHING to help the next generation of musicians get paid. Because this whole era of free music is a disaster for Professional musicians. Hey, I am retired and living happily in CA. I. did have people from the Beatles camp helping me as well as the AFM. But not the musicians. They were all too busy recording new FREE MUSIC for the fans! Hey I'm off to Stream Rip all of Alan's albums today! Yep, the new way of avoiding paying Alan for his amazing work. Guess he is okay with this?!
As much as I can appreciate Edison's invention, I can't dismiss his actions in the ways he promoted some of his work. For example, when he went across the country, in an attempt to demonstrate his DC power grid vs his competitor's (Telsa) AC power grid, Edison would electrocute elephants in front of large crowds. I'm not sure how many times he did this but even just once was enough for me to view Edison as a horrible human being.
Thank the universe for music recording and for Alan Parsons.

You can't be more precise!
Alan, I always appreciate the awesome way you explain sound things so interestingly.
I’ve loved all of Alan Parsons work since I’ve been about 12 yrs. old through my brother, who bought his stuff. He truly is a genius!
I certainly enjoy his music Carol K. ALAN PARSONS is really a talented man

LIVING LEGEND MR PARSON
The Legend that can "hear" gold!
Can not thank you enough for your marvelous recording and special sound effect on Dark Side of the moon album. This is a true Masterpiece both musically and technically and the sound is so open and dynamic.
This is like Cosmos for music recording. I'm so happy the UA-cam algorithm blessed me with this gift.
Wow. I just discovered this video. Immediate saved favourite. God bless the legendary Alan Parson❤
It's great to see what a Master sees through his own eyes. You can learn and understand the mixing of sound ...then to music
Well, Alan is the man really, love his work from Abbey Road, Dark Side of the Moon and Turn of the Friendly Card...
Negli anni mi avete regalato un eredità di cultura. Rimarrete sempre nel mio🤍

Impressive acoustic treatment @6.52

Amen to that brother! :)

Very very good indeed
Damn, I want Alan to lead a programme telling about the history of music now.
Does anyone have a list of the music/tracks on this video? 🙂
Luv AP and all the APP Music 😅
I thought its Gilmour who's talking at the beginning 🙌
Why are there so many deleted videos on the list? Was this You Tube privacy policy or was there another reason for them being deleted?
Genio 🐌🌹
Alan Parsons is the music man. They cant get better than him, because it's impossible to exceed his status...
Imagine if Jeff Lynne and Alan Parsons got together for a chat/interview. That would be awesome viewing.
how about maybe Phil Collins and Alan Parsons together Mark Schulz ?
I would bet they have met. It’s a pretty tight circle. Probably two degrees of separation at the most.
he is akin to the David Attenborough of the music and sound arts.
How do I get 1 of your DVDs ???
Anyone else find it kind of odd/funny that the music at 1:54 is supposed to sound LIKE "Sirius," even though Alan Parsons himself is hosting the video? (I mean, I guess he's got to get permission from a few other rightsholders, Eric Woolfsen, among others, but still)
Wesley Curtis Woolfson died in 2009, I think.
I thought it was cool.
What kind of Magnum P.I. intro was that?!
I think there is also an art to tuning your sound system to sound good with music too.
Woah! Early recording in the Philippines. Who knew a 3rd world country had such a rich recording history?
Where?!

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
REVOLVER N O T SGT PEPPER... was the LP that changed the science of sound recording
Parsons knows sound but why is the video such low quality?
Alan Parsons has a 6'th 7'th and 8'th sense when it comes to sound.
Musica perfecta salida de un Ingeniero
Wow, that was the Hiromi's drummer!!!

Wow!
As the actress said to the bishop: "where's the rest of it?"
so i don't need to bother getting his latest albums, he fainted into the grey of standardised digital technology? :(

If Edison heard what music in the 2020s will sound like, he would've immediately destroyed the phonograph.
THE WORST JOB IN THE WORLD -- Doing sound for the Alan Parsons Band. After 30 years, I am still not worthy. lol
